LAYA One On Me

The LAYAspot is a great addition to any toy box or nightstand drawer. Quiet, multiple settings, easy to use, comfortable, ergonomic, and you can even use it to work out knots in the back and shoulders! Great for beginners and more seasoned toy users alike.

Use

The LAYAspot from FunFactory is an extremely versatile little toy. Designed for precise clitoral stimulation, it can also be used as a personal massager to work out knots or kinks in your back or shoulders. You can also use it to stimulate and tease the nipples, his scrotum, or the underside of his shaft. Heck, the LAYAspot is small enough that you could probably tuck it right into your jeans if you wanted to.

The LAYAspot won't work for every woman out there, but its design guarantees a valiant effort at the very least. For those who don't enjoy it clitorally, you can always use it as a massager.

Material / Texture

LAYA is made of hard plastic and elastomed. This makes her non-porous, odorless, and phthalates-free.

The hard plastic comprises the battery cap as well as one squiggly section along the top with the control buttons, and one small section on the bottom. The elastomed makes up most of what you'll be touching. It feels almost velvety, with just the slightest drag. If the drag bothers you, however, you can just add any body safe lube.

I didn't find a smell or a taste. LAYA just always smells like plastic to me.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

LAYA is only about 4" long and features a unique ergonomic curve that cups the clitoris and vulva. She's small enough to fit into the palm of your hand with plenty of room to spare. You could even tuck her into your pants for an even more hands-free experience.

At one end of LAYA is the battery cap. On the underside of the toy it tells you which way to twist to open the battery compartment if you're not sure. Once it's open, you insert 2 AAA batteries (don't worry, there's a diagram), close the lid back up, and go. Make sure to twist until you hear a locking pop, otherwise your cap can come off during play and kill the mood.

Her curve is gentle enough that you can keep your hand on her the entire time and not start to feel any pain, cramping, or other uncomfortableness. She's wider at the top and tapers towards the bottom. This makes it easy to slip your thumb underneath one of the edges to provide support for changing the speed during playtime.

LAYA is small enough to fit into any traveling bag very easily without taking up much room, and she doesn't pick up tons of lint or anything so you don't have to worry about that. As far as being discreet, well, yes and no. It wouldn't take much to figure out that LAYA is indeed, a sex toy. However if left out on the nightstand across the room and somebody comes in and catches a glance of it, they probably won't think twice.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations seem to be located in the larger head, directly across from the battery cap. The controls themselves are pretty easy to use, especially if you own any other FunFactory toys, since they use the +/- configuration on a lot of their toys.

To start the vibrating, you need to first press and hold the + button. The first level is pretty quiet, but also pretty tame. The next distinguishable level is enough to start making your hand go numb and is still pretty quiet. Even on its highest, hand numbing setting, LAYA is still really quiet.

Once you've gone through all of the steady vibrations, press and hold the + sign to start the pulsing patterns. The first one goes from low-med-high, the second from low-high, the third from low-high at a quick pace. To go up through the patterns just press the + sign once.

Once you want to cycle back down, just keep pressing the - sign. Pressing and holding the - sign will take you all the way back down to the lowest setting, and then to off.

According to the box, LAYA is splashproof, so you might want to avoid any real submersion in water.

Care and Maintenance

Care and maintenance for LAYA is actually pretty easy. FunFactory says that before the first use and then after every use, you should wash it with warm water and a mild soap. Personally, I just used the same toy cleaner that I use for the rest of my toys. Either way, make sure that the battery cap is on and closed tightly and properly before getting any liquids anywhere near it.

When I used lube, it was a water based one. However, you could use a silicone based lube and be just fine.

For storage I keep mine in the box it came in. But you could keep it in pretty much anything. LAYA doesn't seem to be a huge lint magnet, which is always a plus.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

I've had mine for a few years. I bought mine from a brick and mortar store, so my packaging might vary slightly. But what you should end up with is a cute little box, easily toted around by hand with a view window in the front that lets you see the LAYAspot, and a folder style, magnetically closed flip-out on the back, that when open gives you all of the features in 4 different languages on one side, and lists what I believe to be use, material, and a small list of features in an additional 2 languages. This side also contains a little window that lets you see the toy.

When you remove the LAYAspot from the box, you get the toy itself in a plastic clamshell that doesn't stay shut on its own, as well as a small pamphlet and a small toyfluid lube sample. The pamphlet tells you in multiple languages what you've bought, how to use it, and what kind of batteries to use.

The box itself is nice enough to give as a gift, and I've been using mine for storage. Being nice doesn't make it all that discreet however, so if you don't want people to know you've got sex toys, I'd stick this one in a drawer.
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

While LAYA was not meant to be inserted in any manner, you could probably use her for shallow vaginal thrusting and be pretty safe. That being said, never ever ever put LAYA in your butt, unless you want to explain to that handsome ER doc why your rear is vibrating.

Experience

I've been back and forth on this toy for years, literally. When my ex and I were trying to spice things up, we picked this up from a toy shop. Needless to say, we had a hard time with it, and it ended up in a box. Well, get a new significant other, and start experimenting with toys and such with him, and this comes back out. It's been sitting in a box for a year and a half or so, so I dust it off, pop in some batteries, and surprise surprise, it actually worked. I swore I remembered it not working at all. It took a few minutes to get reacquainted with everything, but having owned at least one other FF toy with the +/- controls really helped with all of that.

I use it during solo sessions, and during sex. It's small enough that it doesn't really get in the way at all, and I don't have to hold it in place like I do my bullet vibe sometimes. I find it works better if it's laying on me and I'm on the bottom, but I've been able to make it work while being on top as well.

Unfortunately, I think mine's going to need to be replaced shortly. Trying to turn it on now is like trying to start a car with a pretty much dead battery. It has a lot of false starts. I have to really make sure to keep pressing the + button to get it to turn on, and sometimes on the pulsating settings, it randomly turns off when switching. This doesn't really bother me though, because I'm not a huge fan of the pulsing setting anyway.

After actually getting to use this toy on myself, and with a partner, and being able to use it to work out a few kinks in the back, I really do think I might be willing to buy it all over again when mine finally croaks.
Follow-up commentary
I feel really bad about saying this, and it's not that I don't like the LAYAspot anymore, it's just that I have so many more toys that I like so much better that she just doesn't get used anymore. This is another toy that has joined the island of sad and lonely toys that don't get played with enough. I'm not sad that I bought her all those years ago, but at this point, I wouldn't buy her again.

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
