LAYAspot sex toy review
The LAYAspot is definitely a well-designed and solid addition to any sex-toy collection. It was not as earth-shattering as much of the hype surrounding it had lead me to believe, but it is still definitely a quality product and I would heartily recommend it.Published: June 29, 2008
Pros:
Body and hand-friendly design, waterproof, hygenic materials, powerful motor
Cons:
Buttons can be a bit difficult to push, not as awesome as I had hoped from all the hype
The first thing that struck me about the LAYAspot was its size. It is very small, smaller than I was expecting from the pictures. It fits nicely in the palm of my hand, rather like a computer mouse, but far more slender and tapered, and with more of a curve. The design of this toy makes it both ideal for cupping and stimulating your pelvic curve as well as holding in your hand. This is definitely one of the most comfortable toys I own to use during extended play sessions.
The LAYAspot hooks down over your pelvic bone and stimulates the clit and labia. It stays in place pretty well, and can easily be used hands free; this also makes it ideal for use with other toys or during partner intercourse, since it is small enough not to get in the way. It operates on 2 AAA batteries, and is controlled by 2 simple push buttons located on the top of the toy. The “+” button escalates through several speeds and 3 patterns of pulsation; the “-” button toggles the pulsation feature off and decreases the speed of vibration. The vibrations themselves range from barely a purr to quite powerful; the toy is fairly quiet, however, even at its highest setting--definitely not silent, but nothing that would wake the neighbors. The buttons are not overly sensitive, so you do not have to worry about accidentally turning off the toy; however, I often found my finger resting naturally on the “-” button, so I sometimes had a tendency to slow it down when I actually wanted to speed it up.
The toy, as I said, can be used hands-free, but I personally preferred to apply some pressure over the clit area with a slight rotating motion. The vibe is strong enough to work through clothing at higher settings, but I found my favorite way of using it was to apply a little lube and just allow the vibe itself to warm me up until I was really ready to go. The motor is located in the tip that rests on the clit, and the hard material applies a good amount of pressure on your sensitive spots.
The LAYAspot is made of hard plastic and silicone, and is easy to clean and waterproof (thought I have not tried submerging mine). The batteries fit in securely under a screw-on cap located well away from the controls. I received mine in the black-and-silver color combination, which is not as cute as some of the others, but definitely quite sleek looking. It is also small and discreet enough it would be easy to carry along for travel.
The LAYAspot might not produce the most earth-shattering orgasms ever, but it is a reliable, effective, incredibly well designed toy that is a quality investment and would be a welcome addition to any collection.

RadRachSo my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy? -
reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.

it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

LayaSpot Questions
-
So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.
Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?
Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).
Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?
Just looking for different experiences with these things.. -

I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.

Thank you for viewing LAYAspot – clitoral vibrator review page!

Do the buttons go toward the clit or away?
I'm curious as to how one would adjust the pulsation if it uses the same buttons as speed/level.
The buttons go toward the clit. The pulsations do not seem to be adjustable, as far as I can tell, anyway. Basically you cycle through the speed levels, then the pulsation settings, then can continue to use the "+" key to cycle the pulsation settings; one hit of the "-" key will immediately take you back to the strongest continual vibe setting. It does take a little getting used to.
Sounds great that it can be used during intercourse. Did it stay in place really well when used this way? My only concern is that it might squirm off to one side or something. Now I have one more thing in my wish list.
Thanks for the review!
The silicone holds it in place pretty well, actually. Of course, it doesn't have straps or anything, so you still need to be careful, but if you just feel like lying there, looking at the ceiling, you should be fine. (Sorry, been up since 3am and am a little slap-happy!)
Haha, lying there looking at the ceiling. Sounds like a good idea to me!
Sorry, Bulma, I've recovered now. Seriously, it really is a great hand-held clitoral vibe, and I think it's definitely a worthwhile investment you'll enjoy for a long time. But yes, it's small enough to be unobtrusive during intercourse, even if you have to readjust it once in awhile. Hope my answers eventually got around to helping!
Really, Epiphora--let your partner and the LAYAspot do all the work!
Thank you Dame Demi you answered my question. My biggest problem with bullet vibes is that I have to hang onto them pretty much all the time, so if this just requires adjustment once in awhile, then that's great.
Been up since 3 am? That's when I went to bed!
Hahah, yeah, Bulma, my dog has a habit of deciding what time "Mommy" needs to get up.
I have to try this one. It is SO popular!
My wife and myself have used it for intercourse and also she loves to use it when I am not home, like when deployed but it stayed in place pretty well when used.
It really is small enough not to be to cumbersome during intercourse, and the silicone helps it stay in place. Thanks for your comments!
Demi - I just stopped by your review again and wanted to note something. The Laya Spot is splash-proof but not waterproof according to their instructions.
Thanks for the correction, Adriana. I rarely use toys in water because I'm prone to UTI's, but I haven't had any trouble with water getting in this one.
