Love my Liv!

This item is worth it as long as you aren't looking for a "filler". As a vibe (of any shape or size) Liv is a standout!
Published: March 22, 2010
Pros:
Variety of vibes, easy to use controls, easy to store, comes with a lovely box.
Cons:
Too short, too thin, controls easy to hit while playing, not waterproof, water-based lubes.

Use

The Liv is perfect for clitoral simulation, a little foreplay, and a vibration insertion. It didn't get my G-spot, but I can see how it would help others.

The best use, in my opinion, was to turn it on low and tickle my partner with it while he was blindfolded. The gentle vibrations touching at random drove him crazy!

Material / Texture

Liv is a totally smooth toy with a slightly powdery texture. It doesn't provide much interest for thrusting, but that doesn't seem to be what Liv is for. It would be a great dildo for beginners!

Design / Shape / Size

I like Liv's overall design, but it is a little hard to hold when your hands start to get slick: the base of the dildo is just as smooth and gripless as the insertable part. The box it comes with is fairly attractive and holds both the dildo and its charger, so it blends well in a sock drawer (like a small jewelry box that says Lelo). I probably wouldn't travel with it, since I don't doubt it would set off a metal detector, but I'd miss it while I was gone.

My biggest drawback to Liv is its size: Liv is small both in girth and length. If you're looking for something to fill you up, look elsewhere.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Biggest possible wonder of this toy: It recharges! That's right, no more batteries! The charge holds a long time too, so you don't have to worry about running out right in the middle.

The vibration controls are right under your hand! At first, it seems convenient, but then you end up changing the setting by accident which can really jar you out of the mood. There is a lock function, but it takes a minute to set so that can throw you out of the mood too.

That said, the variety and ability to control the vibes is great: from gentle to hard, steady to waves, the Liv has the best variety of vibes I've encountered so far. It is a little noisy, but nowhere near as loud as most other toys.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is very easy to clean: just take a damp papertowel and rub it over the body (not wet! Liv is NOT waterproof!). I store it in the original box in a sock drawer along with the water based lubes you need to use it.

Packaging

Liv comes in a long black box and is cradled inside a simple molded plastic cradle with a bump at the end to store the charger. The instructions are clear and complete. I could definitely stick a pretty ribbon on this box and make it a present.
Follow-up commentary
This is one toy I will never get tired of. Liv still looks and works just as well as she did the first time I used her!

So do you use an antibacterial wash while cleaning, I recommend that.

What material is the Liv made of? I'd also recommend cleaning it with a little soap, too, not just plain water, since water alone doesn't necessarily wash away all the "bad stuff". Welcome to Eden!

Liv is a silicone toy with a smooth plastic base. (woops, thought I'd put that up there)

I do clean it with a little soap as well (though I've been using Dawn).

  • Liv settings
    • I have the Liv and find all the interval settings to just be annoying! I use it strictly on the regular constant vibration setting. What's your favorite Liv setting?
    • Roller coaster is a really nice pattern

  • Liv strength like the siri?
    • I have the siri and I love it, and I was wondering if this has the same strength/depth as the siri?

  • Toy Colors
    • Looking at the new Lime Green color of LELO's Liv, I'm very close to buying it, just because it's such a kick ass color. Anybody else have a soft spot for nicely colored toys?

Gigi will be my next purchase, and I think the dusty rose actually looks really pretty, but now there's bright blue...lol, I'm torn.
    • Blue, green, and orange are my favorites. I prefer the "non-natural" coloring :-). Even if it's shaped like a real penis, it should be day-glo purple or somesuch :-)
    • I'm that way too. I like non-natural colors for toys. That is a kick ass color, that green. The pink Gigi does look pretty, but I also like how bright the turquoise is too! My next big buy will probably be a Gigi too, it just sounds so amazing. :)

  • The Liv or the Gigi. Both by Lelo
    • I've been hearing a lot lately about the Gigi. I haven't paid much attention because I absolutely love my Liv. I flipped back and saw that they are the same price, same company and only slightly different design. Does anyone actually have both? The Liv has been my all time favorite vibrator for a long time.
    • I actually have the Liv (though I haven't written up a review yet), the Iris, and the Elise. Honestly, and I hate to say it, but the Liv is probably my least favorite of the bunch. It's still an excellent vibe, but it's missing the delicious texturing of the Iris and the g-spot magic of the Gigi. If you like Lelo's products, I'd say the Gigi is definitely worth checking out!

Er, Elise=Gigi. I really shouldn't attempt to type before my morning coffee. *blush*
