Mama Mia! Here I go again!
Barely larger than a tube of lipstick and almost as silent, the Mia by LELO is an excellent choice for a classy and discreet clitoral stimulator.Published: December 3, 2008
Pros:
Almost completely silent, petite, hard plastic, attractive, USB chargeable.
Cons:
Charger cap tends to come loose very easily, USB chargeable.
I am fortunate enough to not have to be discreet in my use of sex toys; therefore, most of the toys I own are on the large, loud, and spectacular side. The Mia by Lelo is one of my first truly discreet vibrators, and I am happy to say it is not a disappointment.
The Mia comes in Lelo’s traditional attractive packaging, with a hard black box with a display-area for the toy and storage for the charger underneath. Yes, the Mia is rechargeable, which is nice; it charges, however, from a USB port, a feature I cannot decide if I like or not. It is convenient for traveling if you carry a laptop, and it does not take up valuable outlet space in my bedroom. However, it does require plugging a vibrator into your computer for about 2 hours, which may be inconvenient for some. On the plus side, the Mia holds its charge quite well and lasted several days for me on one charge.
The Mia is small, only 4 ¼” long and less than an inch in diameter, so it is more effective as a clitoral stimulator than as an insertable vibe. The case is hard plastic with silicone-covered buttons, and the candy-purple/magenta color of mine is absolutely delicious, especially with the contrasting silver band. It has two simple control buttons, a “ ” and a “-“ which you can use to scroll through four different speeds and 3 modes of pulsation. I personally preferred the steady vibrations, but it is nice to have the pulsating options, especially in such a compact vibe. Though the hard plastic is compatible with any lube, I would stick with water-based lubes with this toy because of the silicone buttons.
The Mia is surprisingly powerful for its size, and it almost completely quiet in its operation. During use, I honestly could not hear it at all! The hard plastic and tapered tip allow for intense, pinpoint clit stimulation, and the small size lets you hit just the spots you want.
The major drawback to the Mia is that the cap that covers the USB charger port does not stay on very well when pressure is applied to it. Repeatedly during play, I find myself having to stop and push the cap back on or make sure it is still secure. It can be rather annoying to have the cap pop off at just the wrong moment, trust me! I tend to like firm pressure for clitoral stimulation, but I noticed the cap actually comes loose when very little pressure is applied. However, despite this annoyance, I did enjoy my experience with the Mia and will use it when traveling or when I have the need to be discreet.

Mias USB cover cap
-
I've done a little reading up on the Mia and found that many people were having problems with the cap falling off during use. Since Mia is not waterproof, I wanted to know if this was a defect or is this is something that happens to the Mias over time. I am looking to get one for my girlfriend, but wanted to know more about this problem before I purchase it. Also, I read that LELO has made improvements to Mias motor. Is that the only improvement that was made? Or does anyone have the same problem with the cap falling off on the new Mia?
Thanks!!

Any USB vibrators that you can use WHILE they are charging?
-
So I see there's no way you could use this one while it's charging, and apparently the same goes for the Fairy Baby. Does anyone know of one you can use while it's charging via USB?
-
I think the We-Vibe Tango might be usable since it looks like it's got a really long extension cord. But I don't own one.
-
I'd be worried about the risk of electrocution. Also, the power draw of simultaneous use and charging might fry your USB port.

New Lelo Mia?
-
Does anyone have the "new and improved" Lelo Mia? I'm curious if it's a lot better.
-
I didn't even know about the new and improved Mia, now I'm curious because I was thinking about getting the Mia with my next order.
-
I just went on the website and looked, I'm hoping that the one I order will be the new and improved one, because they said that they started making them better as of February. Now I'm even more excited to try it out :)

Thank you for viewing Mia – sex toy review page!

I agree, I dont know if I would like a toy to charge from a USB. I'm also fearful that lelo products wont be strong enough for me. Great review, thanks.
Thank you so much, Minxy! I have several Lelo toys, and they've all stood up well to very firm pressure so far. The Mia's cap just has an unfortunate tendency to come loose.
Great review - as always! One question: when you say a “ ” and a “-“ above - do you mean and - ?
Heh, actually, I meant a plus and a minus sign, but the system doesn't seem to want to take the plus sign as a character. I put it in my review and in my initial response to you, and it left it out both times. Weird. Thanks for your kind compliment!
Yes! I have the same cap problem! Arg.
Yeah, I think it's a serious design flaw. It really should screw on or something.
I bought this product and sadly haven't touched it much since. I just doesn't have enough kick. I love the design and the rechargeable feature but lelo needs to give us more oomph
Thanks
does the cap need to stay on for the vibes to work. i was seriously thinking about buying this one.
Great review.
Don't know about the USB charging, but thank you for the review!
