This is an external sex toy, and NOT an internal sex toy. It is NOT waterproof either. This means no anal or inner vaginal play, and no bath tub fun. But don't frown! There's plenty you can do with the Mia. Mia does a great job at stimulating the clitoris, but can also be used as a teaser for your breasts, nipples, labia, and even your partners erogenous zones such as ears, neck, perineum, etc. This toy is feminine, but don't think for a minute that it wont please a man! My husband uses mine all the time!

The Mia is made of non-porous plastic and silicone. The only part of this toy that is silicone would be the buttons, do keep in mind that the entirety of this toy is plastic. The plastic is smooth and slippery when wet with lubricant - I love slippery when it comes to clitoral stimulation, so this is a huge plus for me.

There is no texture to the plastic, so if you are a person who needs texture, you might not be pleased with this one. The smooth material makes this toy great for beginners, but advanced users who usually like texture can enjoy this vibe just as well.

I find that the plastic does not scratch easily. It takes a lot to make a mark and I am yet to be able to scratch my Mia. She's been in my makeup bag, my purse, my underwear drawer, and just about everywhere else without getting a single mark. So that's always good to know!

I LOVE the design of the Mia. It looks exactly like a designer Mascara. Here is a picture of a mascara that this looks similar to in shape. I was attempting to find the picture of a mascara from Sephora that looks almost exactly like the Mia in size and shape, but I was unable to find the product online. Some also say the Mia looks like a lipstick, but to me, it's personally a little too big to look like a lipstick.

I think the fact that this toy looks so much like some sort of cosmetic makes it the ultimate discreet vibe. This also means you can easily take it anywhere in your purse without anyone getting suspicious. You can leave it out on the dresser without anyone knowing what it is, and it isn't a toy that has to be hidden or locked up.

The slanted tip is actually the cap of the toy. To charge your Mia you simply remove the cap, and plug it into a USB outlet. For some computers/laptops, your USB outlet may not be as easy to plug the Mia into because of it's size. Not to worry. The Mia comes with its own extension cord which makes the USB easier to use. You can also go to your local electronics store and get an extension cord that turns your USB charger into a wall plug. Radioshack sells these for under $15.

I think the fact that this toy can be charged via USB is just awesome. That's not something you see everyday, and it's really unique. This makes your Mia easy to travel with. You could easily pull out your laptop anywhere and plug this little gal in without anyone suspecting a thing. In the car, on a plane, on a train, etc.

There are 9 different functions/vibrations for this toy:

1. A Low Rumble, almost oscillating like a finger, for those who like that type of sensation or have a sensitive clitoris.

Hold down the "+" hard to start cycling through your 4 patterns
1. High, regular pulsations
2. High pulsations (faster ones)
3. Hard beats (feels like a hard tapping against your clit
4. Hard beats with breaks in between (equally as hard as #8)

To go back to regular vibration at it's highest level any time, simply hit the "-" button once. To lower your level of vibration you keep pressing the "-" button. Patterns can only be cycled.

Each of these functions can be achieved by simply pressing the up and down button. You cannot cycle through the settings but you can simply go from high to low using the "+" and "-" buttons.

When you press each button, the Mia will flash a red light (in my case, white. I am now reviewing the Black Mia since my pink one had a defect). This is nice when you are playing in the dark so you can know if you're hitting the buttons correctly or not. This is good because the buttons are a little firm to press, and not as easy as others may be. I do not find this to be a con since it would be annoying to accidentally skip levels when using your Mia.

The Mia shuts itself off when it has been on for too long (about 15 minutes or so). The Mia can be turned on without actually using the vibrations, so this setting is great in case you didn't know you turned it on.

You can lock your Mia by holding down both the "+" and the "-" sign for about 3 seconds. To unlock, simply repeat the same thing. I find this useful when traveling with the Mia in my purse.

This vibe charges for about two hours in the USB port. If you are using your laptop at the same time, the charging may take longer than that. So if you want to get the quickest charge you can either plug it into a game console, or charge it when your computer is not in use. There is also the wall adapter, as I had mentioned. Once charged, your Mia can last you almost three or four hours on a medium setting and about two hours on it's highest setting.

If you do not have a laptop, computer, or game console, you can easily connect your cell phone charger to the USB extension and charge the Mia in your wall. Most cell phone charger cords are removable from the base (it is often hard to notice. you may have one and not even know). Once it is all connected, the Mia will charge - and she'll even charge a bit faster through the wall.

The Mia is NOT waterproof. This is a downer, but it's very understandable. Because of this, you do not want to insert this toy, use it in the tub, or use it in the shower. When washing, using toy wipes or spray would probably be better than hot water and antibacterial soap, simply because water might get into the USB.

I have gone out and bought myself a pack of antibacterial hand wipes, and I use them to clean my toy. Eden Wipes work just as great. Lubricant is fine to use, but don't use tons of it and take care not to get in underneath the cap.

If you do notice that some water has gotten into the USB - don't panic. Simply blow on it until all the water has come out and do not use the toy for about a day until it has dried. As far as lubricant getting underneath the cap, you should be okay. If you use a thicker lubricant it shouldn't really get on the actual USB. It will probably stay on the cap itself and can easily be wiped away.

This toy is made of plastic, so you can use any type of lubricant. Oil, Water, and Silicone based all works perfectly fine with the Mia and will not cause any damage to the toy.

The Mia comes with a black box (inside of the outer box, which can be thrown away or kept if you wish). The Black box is thick and can be kept for safe storage. Inside there is a plastic shell that is pre-fit just for the Mia. You can easily re-nestle the toy after use. If you don't like keeping boxes, also note that the Mia comes with a white satin bag that easily holds the Mia and her cord extension. This is great for travel or to protect the Mia from getting dirty in your purse, etc.

The Mia comes in a flimsy paper box that covers a thick, coated, cardboard box that can be kept for safe keeping. Your Mia comes with informated on LELO's 10 year Satisfaction guarantee, a 1 year warranty booklet, and a booklet on how to use the Mia. You also get a USB extension cord and a small, white satin bag for storage. The white satin bag itself is pretty flimsy and I wouldn't rely on it to completely protect your Mia. It may protect it from dirt and grime, but it wont protect it from a fall.

The outer box basically gives away that Mia is inside and that Mia is a vibrator. It is not very discreet if you were to pick it up and look at it, but from afar it looks like nothing.

ALTHOUGH plastic is compatible with all lubricants, the buttons on the Mia are made of Silicone. Therefore, Silicone lubricants are not recommended. Water based lubricants are recommended as they will not do any damage to the toy whatsoever. Silicone lubricants will make the Silicone buttons tacky and the Silicone may begin to actually fall apart.

I want to note that for some reason, my Mia does not blink red when in the USB port on my laptop. I am not sure if this is a malfunction, but Mia does still seem to charge correctly. The extension cord causes the Mia to overheat, which is something I just noticed today. (I've had the Mia for two days and did not see this happen the first day). I'm contacting LELO because I believe my Mia may have a defect.

My experience with the LELO Mia has been really nice - for the two days that it lasted. On the third day I started having some serious malfunctions/defects and I have posted a list of them at the link at the end of this section. PLEASE read this if you currently own a Mia or are thinking about purchasing one. I have spoken to LELO directly and I had purchased one of the Mias from their "bad batch". I am awaiting a replacement, and I will then edit my review. Some of the information above is incorrect, such as the amount of vibration levels. There are more than what is shown; the only problem is that my Mia is broken and couldn't operate each level. So please, take a few moments and read this post so that you are all well aware of the possible issues. LELO has corrected the problem but there can still be defective Mias out there floating around.

I did get a new Mia, which is black. (See the new video later). It operates correctly and has three times the power. It still has the same cycles, though.
