Moody BluesThe Mood Playful is a cute, fun looking little traditional vibrator from Doc Johnson. It is petite, so is good for people with limited space. It takes normal size batteries (AAA) so you won’t have to go on a battery hunt when you need to refresh its power. It’s definitely not a power house vibe, and is middle of the road on bees too. Great for anyone who just wants a basic, traditional, run of the mill vibrator that’s cuter and more whimsical than your average toy.
This is the perfect for any couple to begin toy exploration with, because it is easy to use and unintimidating. It would work very well during couple’s foreplay. The Mood Playful is also completely suited to solo use. Be sure to use a condom if you plan to share this toy with someone you are not fluid bonded with.
Playful requires 2 AAA batteries that fit inside a removable battery pack that slides into the body of the toy.
The toy is completely rigid, and the plastic has zero drag. The TPE does have a bit of drag, so if inserted, this toy will need some lubricant. Mood playful is smooth, but does have a ridge along the edge where the TPE meets the plastic along the shaft. While not felt during use, this seam can present a slight problem during cleaning, so be sure to pay extra attention to this area.
Total length: 5.5”
Insertable length: 4”
Handle/Battery compartment lid: 1.25”
This toy is certainly not going to satisfy the size queens, but its size could make it a very nice introduction to toys and penetrative play. The Mood Playful is waterproof; thanks to a large o-ring that seals the battery compartment. Bath and shower play get the green light, so when you’re feeling playful, this toy can definitely set the mood!
The vibrations are focused in the tip of the toy, though they can be felt throughout the entire length of the Playful. The more powerful tip makes this toy perfect for clitoral stimulation. The vibrations are not extremely strong and are pretty buzzy. For comparison purposes I always use the Je Joue MiMi Generation I to gauge the power of toys. The MiMi is my favorite clitoral vibrator as of yet, and makes it easy to rate the vrooms and bees. Mood Playful is slightly buzzier than MiMi. There are three settings as follows:
1 – Low, steady vibration – 2 vrooms, 2 bees – comparable to MiMi on level 2
2 – Medium, steady vibration – 2.5 vrooms, 2 bees – comparable to MiMi between levels 2 and 3
3 – High, steady vibration – 3 vrooms, 2.5 bees – comparable to MiMi on level 3
This toy doesn’t have a locking feature, but if you take the batteries out it will travel quite well.
Playful can be used with any kind of lubricant, water-, silicone-, oil-based or hybrid lubes. If you are using this toy with a condom, just be sure that your lubricant of choice is compatible with your condom.
Being waterproof makes this toy easy to clean. Warm water and regular soap will do the trick, or you can use toy cleaner or toy wipes. The Playful can’t be sanitized by bleaching, boiling or putting it in the dishwasher. Do not clean your Mood Playful in these ways as it can damage the toy.
Doc Johnson offers a 30 day limited warranty on its toys. If your Mood Playful fails to work due to a defect in workmanship or materials, Doc Johnson will replace it with a new one for a $15 warranty fee. To register your toy for this warranty, just see the Doc Johnson Warranty Registration Page.
Internally, I really can’t feel the vibrations either. It’s almost like they travel into my pubic bone. I could seriously feel them vibrating my pubic bone, but nowhere else. It wasn’t painful, just a very strange feeling and definitely not stimulating. I also don’t think the sound level (which is somewhat loud) is warranted by the lack of vibration. I prefer for a toy this loud to be stronger, or to at least be able to feel its vibrations. I found the disparity between sound and power disappointing.
Since the Mood Playful is so straight, I have to use it at a very extreme angle for it to stimulate my g-spot. That made it somewhat uncomfortable around the vaginal opening while thrusting. I also don’t really like the feeling of the pokey plastic end when inserted. Additionally, this toy lacks a handle, and since it’s such a short toy I really don’t have much to hold onto to maneuver the toy once inserted.
