Adjustable clamp - nipple clamps by Spartacus - review by Alchemical

I giddily ordered these as a surprise for my boyfriend. We've been experimenting with nipple play and decided we wanted to take the plunge into some proper clamps. I admit, I was nervous! I wasn't sure what to expect. Would they hurt? Would they be too much for me? My boyfriend assured me that I could probably take a bit more pain than a tweezer clamp offered and I knew he was probably right about that. So, after some browsing, I decided on the Spartacus Adjustable Clamps. They looked so intimidating and sexy. I was so excited to try them out in the bedroom.

I shyly tore them out of them package (which was pretty standard really; plastic with a window for viewing the product adorned with your typical sexy yet bland looking models). The first thing that struck me about the clamps was their weight. They seemed so heavy! But that cold metal felt so nice in my hands and I loved how the chain slithered. The actual clamps seemed a bit clunky and heavy but I wasn't going to judge them without giving them a proper test drive. To the bedroom!

I coyly dragged my boyfriend along (he didn't need much coaxing), proudly toting my new purchase. I had such high hopes for these clamps. However, after getting playfully tossed onto the mattress by my willing boyfriend, it became apparent that my perfect nipple clamping fantasy was not without flaws. My boyfriend wanted to put these on me, that's sexy, right? I thought so. However, he had a hard time getting these on. For one thing, I was right about the clamps themselves being a bit clunky. They're large and a bit unwieldy. My boyfriend soon figured out a good way of getting these on was to open them only as far as was necessary to get them around my nipples (which are quite small, all things considered). Then, once my nipples were positioned between the clamps, he turned the screws until they were in place and felt secure enough to stay put on their own.

At first they felt amazing. I wasn't used to the sensation and it gave new heights to my pleasure. I loved how the chain felt against my skin and I loved the pressure achieved by pulling it lightly (we found pulling it too hard would tear the clamps right off - Ugh!). I kept asking for them to be made tighter. Tighter, tighter, tighter! So tight, in fact, that we couldn't adjust them any tighter if we'd wanted to. That was disappointing! I had quickly become accustomed to the bite and found these couldn't deliver much more than a pleasant firmness, there really was no sting at all.


They didn't hold up terribly well during sex either. They did well enough for the Cowgirl position, and modified missionary, but they were quite useless for Doggy Style. The weight of the chain hanging downward was lovely at first, right up until it pulled the clamps right off.

My boyfriend and I were a bit annoyed by this point. We tossed the clamps aside and continued on without them, having to rely on a lot of good old fashioned pinching to satisfy my desires. Sadly, we've used the clamps very little since we bought them. They're too much trouble for minimal pleasure.

While these clamps look great, they just didn't do what I wanted them to. The quality and craftsmanship are very nice, but the design seems flawed. They don't clamp tightly enough, they're hard to get on, and they fall off too easily. I was hoping the adjust-ability would make them easier to use and offer a wider range of pressure, but all it succeeded in doing was complicating things. Maybe a curious beginner would enjoy these more than I did.
