my new friend Gigi

Gigi is great for G-spot stimulation, especially if you are looking for a smaller toy. It is quiet but still packs a punch, with strong vibrations and a variety of patterns.
Published: August 5, 2009
Pros:
Great shape, great materials, great vibrations.
Cons:
The handle is too small, and it can be easy to change settings by accident.

Use

Gigi is clearly designed as a G-spot vibrator. With its obvious curve and enlarged tip, it's perfectly suited to finding and stimulating the G-spot. The design is great for self-pleasure as well as partner play.

Material / Texture

Like all Lelo toys, Gigi is made from safe, high-quality materials. The handle is glossy ABS plastic, whereas the insertable portion is a firm, silky smooth silicone. The slickness of the materials allows for easy penetration. Note that water-based lubricants should be used with Gigi, as silicone lube may damage its surface.

Design / Shape / Size

Gigi's design easily lends itself to its intended use as a G-spot vibrator. But it can also be used to stimulate the clitoris, due to the shape of its head. My girlfriend enjoys using it that way before inserting it vaginally.

Beginners will find Gigi easy to use thanks to its smooth curves and narrow girth. This toy was designed to be easy to use, not to fill you up. My girlfriend, who finds larger toys hard to insert at times, was very happy with the size of the toy. I think the length of the insertable portion was perfect for reaching her G-spot.

My only complaint when using it with her, is that the handle end could be longer. The handle is a bit small and becomes slippery when wet, so it's easy to lose your grip on it sometimes. She had less trouble when she was using it on herself, as the curve makes the handle better positioned for using on yourself than for using it on a partner.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Gigi can provide either a constant vibration, or several different patterns. You can also adjust the intensity of the vibration in any of the modes. My girlfriend prefers the constant vibration most of the time, but sometimes uses the wave-like surging setting. (The three on/off pulsation settings don't do anything for her.)

The vibration can be pretty strong; my girlfriend rarely uses it on its highest setting. Even on the highest setting it is very quiet. You should not have many issues with noise, especially when using it for its intended purpose as a G-spot vibrator.

The controls are pretty easy to understand. It has a cross-shaped button (like the D-pad on a video game controller) with up/down changing the pattern (constant, slow pulsing, medium pulsing, fast pulsing, and wave pattern) and left/right changing the vibration intensity. (You also use right/left to turn it on and off.)

The petite size of the handle is again a problem, as you will accidentally hit the buttons at times. This can be very annoying, but against it seemed to be more of a problem when I was holding it than when my girlfriend was using it on herself.

Care and Maintenance

Gigi has an internal lithium-ion battery (like your laptop computer). It comes with a charger which plugs into a concealed jack on the handle. It charges pretty quickly (an hour or two) and can provide a few hours of vibration on each charge. You should be careful to close the cover over the charging jack when you're going to wash it. Also, be careful not to get water into the controls. Gigi is not waterproof, so don't use it in the bath and don't submerge it completely when cleaning it.

Packaging

When you open up the outer cardboard box, you'll find a nice black gift box (with just a subtle "Lelo" embossed on the lid). This inner box is great for storage or for presenting Gigi as a gift. Some might find the box to be a bit bulky for storage, but Lelo also includes a small cloth bag, so it's up to you how you prefer to store Gigi.

Lelo provides an adequate instruction manual (in several languages), which provides clear operating instructions as well as tips on care and cleaning your new toy.

Experience

My girlfriend and I have had a lot of fun with Gigi. We also have an Njoy Pure Wand, which we've used for G-spot experimentation, but we're finding Gigi easier to use, especially when she wants me to lick her while we use it. While the pure wand works pretty well, it's a bit scary to have a few pounds of steel near your face, plus it's just a little big for my girlfriend. But Gigi is just right, at least for now. She may work her way up to using the pure wand in the future, once she gets more accustomed to G-spot toys, but for now Gigi is our new best friend.

Great review! Lots of important information to consider as well. (I own one,but its not a favorite) I was not in love with the handle, too much guesswork....

Is the silicone plush or pliable or is it pretty firm?

The silicone is very, very firm. It actually feels more like a thin coating on top of hard plastic inside. I think the silicone on this toy is there mostly for the surface texture (and marketing buzzwords), as it doesn't provide any squishiness at all.

Sounds good! I love the nerdy (please don't take that the wrong way!) references. I totally thought of a d-pad the first time I saw this! Nice review!

It's nice to see a partner review. I wonder how fun the toys are from the other end sometimes.

    • How easy is the Gigi- G Spot Vibrators to use during sex?
    • I think it's more of a solo toy. You should look at the We vibes.

I think it works pretty well for this purpose. I use it simultaneously with a dildo all the time. Is it the best for this purpose? I would say you'd be better off using a smaller vibrator such as the Lelo Siri which is another personal favorite of mine during piv sex. Although it is pretty easy to use the Gigi. Works in all positions where your body isn't completely pressed against a surface or your partner's body. You'll need to give a little space in between you and your partner to fit the toy but it still works really well.

  • Lelo Gigi - Using a Condom or Not
    • I have recently bought the Gigi vibrator from LELO.

For my first use, I used a condom to cover the Gigi (the brand I used is Lifestyles Studded). After removing the condom, I noticed that the lubricant, from the inside the condom, left a kind of oily residue on the Gigi. I tried to use my toy cleaner to remove it, but I am slightly worried

I am worried that the lubricant from this condom is not water-based. Now, I have a few questions that I was unable to research answers to.

      1) Was the condom I used water-based?
      2) Have I ruined my new Gigi?
      3) Is it best to use a condom on the Gigi or not?

Any advice/help will be much appreciated.

      - Dr. Manhattan
    • From what I can find via Google, it looks like the lubricant in that condom isn't a silicone lubricant so it should be okay.

Lubricant Ingredients: Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Phenonip, Carbomer

I don't think you're ruined anything. If you're concerned you might want to try to find a different type of condom that leaves less residue. I have no suggestions because almost all condoms irritate me and since I'm fluid bonded with my partner we don't use them.

What would you recommend to clean the Gigi? I currently have a toy cleaner called "Swiss Navy."

Will using soap and water be bad for the Gigi? At least just for the silicone part of the vibrator?

  • is jt worth it
    • Is the product worth the price ????
    • I'm pretty sure we answered a similar set of questions about the pros and cons of expensive vibrators.
    • Quote: Is the product worth the price ????
Absolutely!! I bought mine a couple years ago after (literally) melting my previous one. Between the cost of having to replace my vibrators and the batteries constantly, I went for it and have no regrets!! Gigi is a regular part of our sex life! However, I use it only for cliteral stimulation (which works for me) so I can't speak if you are interested in G-spot usage.
The one drawback is I've found that I tend to hit the speed controls during use. Otherwise, the warranty is great (though i've never had one problem with it), it's easy to keep clean and store, and I LOVE that it's rechargable.
      Enjoy!

I highly recommend the Gigi for G-spot play. It's firm enough to stimulate it with the amount of pressure needed, but velvety enough to not be too much. Additionally the vibration settings I found to be ideal for pressing against my G-spot. Just have a towel ready!

I would recommend the Gigi for g-spot play. I will point out though that if you have a g-spot that is on the further side in terms of depth in the vagina, or if like me your vaginal canal has a sharp curve to it then you should look for a toy that is longer than the Gigi. I love the Gigi as a clitoral vibrator but based on my anatomy it didn't do much for me as a g-spot stimulator. Take your anatomy into consideration before you buy a toy for g-spot play. If you are like me and think you'll need a more lengthy toy try the G-Spot Pink glass stimulator. I'm currently working on a review for that toy and it is a personal favorite of mine.

  • Charging Gigi in the UK
    • FiredrakeNemmy
So uh, my gf lives across the pond in England and I wanted to get a little something to bring her next I go visit.

She really likes the use of the Gigi vibrator but I'm worried about the charging of the toy, I learned to be wary of such things when I blew out the power to my Wii :X

But anyways, if anyone who has one could kindly take a look at the allowed voltages I would really appreciate it. The voltage info can usually be found on the charger itself ( a bunch of random numbers and such and has that UL logo ) Does it list the Input as 100V-240V or just something around 100V?

      Thanks!

They're good for 100-240V. I charged mine while living abroad just fine.
    • The charger I have with mine has the 100V-240V range.

You might also look at getting a charger specifically for using the Gigi in England.

    • My 22nd birthday is coming up which means birthday monies <3 I'm trying to see if I can orgasm with my gspot but haven't had any luck. I've been close but no beans yet. I'm debating getting this to see if it'll work for me, plus I'm trying to go off birth control, it's made my sex drive completely dissappear after 2 years of being on it, not to mention making me depressed, moody, etc.

Anyway, would this be recommended? Where's the vibration, though? More in the shaft towards the buttons or more at the tip? And is it plenty strong? (I need strong vibrations.)

I'll have to order at a time my dad won't be home, though, and make sure it arrives when he's at work--how embarassing it'd be for me for him to find out I have toys!

Have you read all the reviews on it? If not then I would.

I know I love it! It's my favorite vibrator.

  • is the gigi a good starter g-spot vibe?
    • My friend Lee's birthday is coming up and ever since I told her about female ejaculation and what it is and that I can do it, she's been trying to find everything about it and is really interested in a g-spot vibrator, but she doesn't really like the way most vibrators feel with vibrations. To her, they feel like an "Oh, there's something vibrating in my ladyparts but it's doing nothing for me." So, my question is, is the Gigi different in that sense that the vibrations have some "variety" to them and they're not so monotonous? I'd love to get her the Gigi for her birthday and have heard nothing but great things about it.

My Gigi is on its way, so I'm not much help there... Although, whenever I read about female ejaculation the Ella is usually involved.

It doesn't vibrate, but you may want to check it out.

Miss KissThis totally beat me to the punch! If it has to vibrate and you want to be able to use it for clitoral stimulation, Gigi is great. But if you're on a lower budget and only want g-spot stimulation, the Ella is one of this forum's favorite dildos.

  • Best G-spot vibrator. Which one to pick?
    • Rachell25
LELO has presented a couple of very well designed G-spot vibrators, like Gigi, Liv and Elise, lately. Just looking at them makes me feel horny. They all have great features and different vibration modes and they are also rechargeable, so I can safe my money on batteries.
Gigi seems to be the toy of my dreams due to its well pronounced curved tip. I guess that will lead to a better contact with my G-spot.
Any ideas, suggestions, tips? Anything will do.

PS: Will Gigi make me squirt???
    • Rainbow
Wow... that looks really splendid, in fact, all of them do.
It looks like it's going to be my G-spot's best friend for ages.

That must be a bargain but it is kind of expensive for me at the moment but as soon as I can afford one I will surely have one in my toy box.
    • Siren
My dear, not every woman is able to "squirt", it depends on every woman's physiology but it is definitely going to send you to Seven's Heaven of Pleasure.
I own one, the Liv, and it's just terrible, in the good meaning of the word.
I can assure you, you made a perfect choice if you're looking for G-spot stimulation.
