My Secret Workout Helper

With all of the great things going for it, I think this is a stellar kegel exerciser. It is easy to wear, maintain, and seems like it would be very effective.

Use

The SinFive Emigi is a kegel exerciser, designed to make doing the exercises easier and more effective. Kegel exercises, or "kegels" for short, strengthen a woman's pelvic floor and are accomplished by intermittent squeezing and releasing of the muscles used to stop the flow of urine. Doing kegels has many benefits for women in all stages of life. They can help increase the intensity of orgasms for one, but are also especially helpful for pregnant women, preventing urinary incontinence, and perineal tears during delivery of the baby.

Emigi is slightly different from the typical kegel exerciser on the market, which is typically either two separate balls (aka ben wa balls), or two balls joined in the middle. Emigi is peanut shaped, which, I'm told, helps it sit more securely in the vagina. This is the first kegel exerciser I've tried, so I can't compare it to the traditional style. I will say that it has not slipped out to date, and I've worn it for up to 6 hours.

One word of caution: never use Emigi or any kegel exerciser anally because they can quite easily slip in and become lost. Although Emigi has a long retrieval cord, it could still happen, so don't risk it!

Material / Texture

Emigi is made of elastomer, a very firm, smooth material. The cord is made of silicone. It rates an "8" on Eden's famous safety scale, which is considered extremely safe. It is non-porous and free of phthalates. There is no smell whatsoever to the material. The weight feels moderate to me, but again, I have yet to try any other kegel exercisers to compare it to. Despite being firm, I found it to be comfortable and easy to insert with just a little bit of lube.

Design / Shape / Size

I think the design of Emigi is a great concept. It stays firmly inside thanks to the peanut shape, but is still comfortable (more comfortable than a tampon, I would say!) At times I even forgot it was in, which was surprising since I'm very tight and find a lot of toys too big. If anything, it might be a TOUCH small, but that is getting picky. I do think if a woman has a lot of experience with kegel exercisers or is more "loose" she might want to stick with a slightly bigger exerciser, of which there are many. I actually chose Emigi because it was the smallest I could find. According to my measurements, it is one notch below 4" around each of the balls, and closer to 3.5" in the middle. The length is just 2.5". In my opinion, it would be great for beginners.

Cute little thing, isn't it?

I noticed that in another review a contributor said that the cord was coming apart from the body. I have not had that problem with mine, as you can see here.

Performance

For me Emigi was easy to insert and comfortable to wear for an extended period of time. The material isn't "draggy" at all like a lot of silicones, so you just need a very tiny dab of lube. It's a great reminder for me to do my kegels when I'm wearing it. Having something to squeeze around, no matter how small, does help. I did not feel particularly aroused from wearing Emigi as I've read in other people's reviews. It could be because Emigi isn't very heavy compared to other kegel exercisers. The good thing about that is I can go about my work or whatever I'm doing and not get distracted. That makes Emigi a truly versatile product.

Care and Maintenance

Emigi is extremely easy to care of. Personally, I keep it in its box inside my toy bag but you could just set it out if you wanted since it doesn't collect much dust. Elastomer is safe to use with silicone or water based lubes, but because the cord is silicone, I would recommend water based only. It also says this on the packaging if you read it. (When silicone comes in contact with another silicone product, it can often ruin the material.) As for cleaning, I just wash mine with soap and warm water. It could also be sterilized by boiling or spraying with a bleach solution and rinsing off.

Packaging

Emigi comes packaged in a cute little box. There are directions printed on the back for its use and maintenance in several languages. The box is not particularly sturdy though, so I can imagine most people will want to recycle it (it is recyclable in spite of the plastic window-yay!)

Personal comments

To be completely honest, I haven't used this regularly enough to give it a fair assessment of how well it works. I will say that as I get further along in my pregnancy I'm noticing some of the incontinence I've heard about, so I'll definitely be upping my usage.
