Nicknamed the Caterpillar

The Waterproof Silicone Softees Purple vibrator is a good toy for the price. The shape is pleasing while the texture is interesting. It isn't made to last forever, but it's a workhorse while it works.

Use

I chose this toy because I wasn't sure that I would like the texture, and I liked the idea of the removable sleeve. My boyfriend was somewhat put off by the spiky shape of it and named it "Caterpillar" but it's more nubby than it is spiky.

The Waterproof Silicone Softees purple vibrator is best used for vaginal and clitoral stimulation. I found the bulbous end of the sleeve to be very satisfying in vaginal play while the nubs were particularly exciting when they contacted the vaginal entrance. They did their job best when the vibrator was inserted and left alone so that the vaginal muscles could close around it. The texture was a little rough to begin with but was easy to acclimate to, but it is a little too much with vigorous movement of the toy.

Anal play with this toy might be better sleeveless due to the sleeve texture. The texture really isn't very butt-friendly and should be used gently if used anally. Anal use of the unsleeved vibrator is okay, but the thin plastic body of the vibrator isn't suited to stay in place.

Material / Texture

The TPR silicone of the Waterproof Silicone Softees {Purple vibrator is odorless and well-made. The material is softer than a smooth plastic but firmer than jelly. Although the sleeve was silicone, it did seem to pick up a little bit of lint. It was nothing a quick rinse cannot fix.

The body of the vibrator under the sleeve is smooth, transparent plastic.

Design / Shape / Size

On first inspection, the sleeve seemed well-made, and the seam was subtle. The bulb-like end is solid silicone and sits like a cushion on the vibrating end of the body. The offset weight is situated in the tip of the vibrator and offers easily transferred vibrations through the sleeve.

The plastic vibrator under the sleeve is seamless and transparent. The texture is smooth save for a tiny dot of plastic at the very tip that would normally be under the sleeve. This point of plastic is like a bit of extra from the mold and was a little too sharp for my tastes.

The "stacked" spheres of the sleeve vary in width and provide sensory interest, but the sleeve is not actually 5" in circumference through its length. Most of the sleeve is somewhat below 5" in circumference while the "head" of the sleeve is the reported size. The sleeve itself adds a lot of bulk to the vibrator, and the traditional vibe underneath is comparably small.

Taking the sleeve on and off the vibrator is more challenging than it should be, I believe. I ended up using a little bit of lubricant the first few times, but too much lubricant allows the sleeve to slip some.
    • Bizarre shape

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is simplistic in function and performance. It doesn't have any vibrational patterns. It just has a control dial at the bottom that starts at off and moves through a spectrum of intensity. The control dial is not terribly sensitive but does what it's supposed to do. It really only has four distinct levels: off, slight buzz, definitely on, and full tilt. The plastic ring to control the speed is textured for a better grip but can still be difficult to grasp.

As previously stated, the vibrations emanate from the tip of the vibrator so that may not do much for those who enjoy vibrations at the base and entrance, but the tip vibrations make an excellent clitoral vibrator.
    • Discreet sound
    • Easy to use
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

The sleeve has a bit of texture and crevices for things to get into - especially if used anally. It is not the easiest to clean.
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

The packaging was a simple clam-shell plastic package that you can put the toy back into for storage if so desired. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Follow-up commentary
The Waterproof Silicone Softees Purple vibrator served me well, but lead me to better products. First thing, the TPR silicone is just inferior to real silicone and I would have been better off purchasing real silicone to begin with. At the time, I just didn't know how much better silicone really is. While the material was an unforeseen con, my main reasons for losing interest in Caterpillar are the very ones that I list in the original review.

1) This vibrator's cap seal is somewhat weak. I don't believe it is suitable for use underwater. Eventually the seal let in a significant amount of moisture which made the product rust inside and become unusable. The leaking seal also became a cleanliness issue.

2) Cleaning the textured grip of the cap, around the nubs, and under the sleeve became tedious. Lubricant would not only collect between the cap and the vibrator, but outside the seal so that untwisting the cap and cleaning around the exposed guts was absolutely necessary. This should be done anyway, but I feel like the gap between the cap and body could have been smaller.

3) The nubs were stiff and somewhat desensitizing. After becoming accustomed to them, they all eventually twisted off of the sleeve leaving jagged, unpleasant bumps in the material.

All in all, I don't regret purchasing this toy and I feel like I got my moneys worth. So, for a cheap, quiet vibrator with a little too much texture and some weird quirks, the Caterpillar was OK.
