No Love for This Bug

I was excited for the possibilities this toy could offer. If it had fit me, it would have been ride-able, easy to clean, and the vibrations would be sufficient for orgasm. It's simple to use and easy to clean. However, I suspect this toy won't fit all or even most women. Know your measurements before you buy!

Use

I had high hopes for this combination clitoral and G-spot vibe. Its design is different from other toys, which attracted me both for novelty and in the hopes that it was onto something that other toys were lacking. Unfortunately, the Butterfly is for 1) women with shallow G-spots and 2) incredibly distant clitorises from their vaginal entrances.

The Butterfly is for largely penetrative use as positioning it for only clitoral stimulation is a bit awkward (but it can be done). I don't think it's very good for non-genital erogenous zone stimulation, like the thighs, nipples or stomach, but I could definitely see the Butterfly being used for anal. Its wings and antennae act as a good flared base as well as extra stimulation at the perineum, so don't discount that! That possibility makes this toy accessible to both men and women. Its short length and relatively small girth would make it a good beginner/moderate anal toy, or perhaps just for a warm-up.

This toy is 100% waterproof (I explored this aspect thoroughly)! Using it in the bath, hot tub or potentially the pool is a possibility, so this Butterfly is not just limited to the bed. However, the Butterfly is not cordless and while there is a secure-seeming ring around the battery compartment of the controller, I would be shy around water with it.

Material / Texture

When I opened the package, there was a slight odor to the Butterfly, but nothing a quick rinse didn't eliminate. The Butterfly is made of lovely silicone, which feels quite plush and velvety. The silicone is mostly firm, having only some give in the shaft and head. The antennae, however, are quite bendy and flexible. The wings are also flexible, but to a lesser degree. There is some texture around the head and down the shaft of the love bug's penis, but honestly, I can't feel it. The wings have some non-functional texture on the reverse, just to make them look more like wings. Around the body of the Butterfly, there is a very deep seam, but you would probably never get near it while in use.

Design / Shape / Size

I gave the Butterfly more chances than I thought I would, given the somewhat unattractive shape and price point. I tried it in the bath and dry, in bed. I tried it on my back, traditional 'on top' and on my hands and knees. I tried! I loved the idea that I could ride it, given the relatively flat base while grinding against the curve for G-spotting action. I loved the idea that this was not a traditional rabbit vibrator. However, my anatomy is all wrong for the Butterfly.

The antennae are supposed to be the main source of stimulation for the clitoris. The first problem is that the vibrations are poor to fair at the tips of the antennae. The second problem is that the distance from the shaft to the antennae of the butterfly is a full 2". The clitoris of most women from their vaginal opening is about 1" to 1.5". The antennae miss my clitoris completely, defeating their purpose.

The wings are surprisingly stiff, less flexible than the antennae, and I didn't notice much stimulation from them at all, unfortunately. They do contribute the size of the base, however, which may be useful for anal play.

The shaft measures 3.5" in length and is about 3.7" in circumference. A gentle curvature at the tip is supposed to stimulate G-spots. So the butterfly isn't that big! This will either be good for some women or it might be a reverse Goldilocks problem -- not small enough, not big enough. I personally found that the length is not long enough for my G-spot and actually stimulated my bladder more than anything else. Uncomfortable!

Functions / Performance / Controls

The remote that comes with the Wild Butterfly is the same shade of pink. It is attached by cord, which is 21.5" long. That's a fair length in my opinion, but the fact that it has a cord at all might be a turn off. I found after several bubblebaths that the connection of the cord to the butterfly is totally waterproof! However, I wouldn't want to try the remote in the same conditions.

Wild B remote

The Wild B's controls are very simple. The bottom button serves to turn the butterfly on or off with one press. Using the wave button at the top cycles through several vibrations. Three red lights on the face of the remote can tell you what level of vibration strength (for the steady vibration settings only).

1. Level 1, steady (About 2 vrooms)
2. Level 2, steady (3 vrooms)
3. Level 3, steady (I think it's more like 3.5 vrooms)
4. Strong pulse
5. Revving
6. Strong, long pulse
7. Two short, one long pulse

The butterfly is quiet! This was much appreciated. Even at its highest vibration in your hand, it rates about 2 bees. In use, I think it's even quieter. Additionally, the vibrations of this toy sound a lot more like a cell phone's vibrations rather than being rattly or like a small appliance like some other toys.

Care and Maintenance

As the butterfly is waterproof and silicone, it's very easy to clean. Like all my silicone toys, I use soap and water and wipes. Unfortunately, the texture behind the head of the penis on this love bug is a little difficult to clean. There are three ridges that are very small but somewhat deep and closely spaced. I would pay more attention to cleaning that area. A deep seam runs along the edge of the butterfly's body as well. I imagine that could harbor some bacteria.

Like many silicone toys, the butterfly attracts lint and hair. It's not the worst, but it's not the best.

Storage options are limited for the butterfly since the cardboard box it came is flimsy and indiscreet at best. The butterfly's strange shape also makes it somewhat bulky in a separate pouch.

Follow-up commentary
Nope, still doesn't work for me. My anatomy just doesn't work with this vibe. It's plenty strong, good design in general, made of very plush silicone and doesn't guzzle batteries. After using it multiple times, I'm neutral about the cord -- there are times it gets in the way, other times it feels long enough. I would keep my 3/5 star rating.

Right on about the measurements. For what it's worth, although the antenna miss the head of my clit by a mile, they do snuggle in on either side of the shaft, so for me they aren't a complete waste.
