Not for all Chicks

The Groovy Chick provides hands-free dual stimulation by sitting on it and rocking back and forth. If your g-spot is 2 ½ to 4 inches in, and your clit is 24 to 36 mm from your vagina, this toy might fit you well. If your measurements are larger or smaller, don't bother, this toy wasn't designed for us!

Use

Assuming this toy fits your anatomy, you can sit (in a chair or kneel over a pillow) and rock, alternately stimulating your vagina and clit, which is great if you prefer grinding over using your hands or if you want your hands free for something else such as playing with a partner or holding (or clicking through) some reading material.

The bullet vibe can be removed from the silicone and used on its own to stimulate any erogenous zone. You can also replace the bullet vibe in the Rock Chick with your favorite ~5/8 inch diameter bullet.

Material / Texture

Looks and feels nice in the hand: dark lavender color, soft matte silicone feels firm when held lightly, squishes when squeezed, smooth design, and no abrupt angles. It looks much friendlier than its predecessor, the clamp-looking Rock Chick. The bullet is hard purple plastic. See photo for size comparison. Use with water-based lube or patch-test first if you would like to try a silicone lube.

Design / Shape / Size

The insertable portion of this toy is 1 inch across, and the insert-able length is 4 inches if used in the default C-shape, and 5 inches if stretched straight and inserted to just before the ridged section.

Let's talk about anatomy: Although there is still some controversy about the G-Spot (*ahem* medical community not keeping up *ahem*), most sources agree that the g-spot is one to a couple inches inside the vagina, about two finger joints in. In the Eden Fantasys forum, Coralbell conducted a poll on g-spot location. Of the respondents who knew where their g-spots are, 91% have g-spots that are 3 inches or less inside, and 66% are two inches or less inside. Since the g-spot head on the Groovy chick starts about 2 ½ inches up, the Groovy Chick will overshoot the g-spot for around 80% of users! (Somewhere between 66 and 91%, skewed toward the smaller measurements to fit the normal distribution, for the math folk.) It can still be used as a vaginal stimulator past the g-spot. It could also be used not fully inserted, but that defeats the purpose of being able to sit and rock on it, and increases the chance that it will also miss the clitoris.

Regarding the clitoris end of the toy, - Kira - also conducted a poll in the forums, this time on the distance between clitoris and urethra. It's harder to find info on vaginal-clit distance (apparently it's less distinct and harder to measure, that's why the study that - Kira – cites used urethra-clit distances), but some websites said the urethra is 1-2 mm from the vagina. That seems low to me, but I used that number. Using a string and ruler to measure on the Groovy Chick, I estimate that a person would need a vagina-to-clit distance of at least 25 mm to reach the first bump on the clit side of the toy. For people with distances less than this, the clit section of the Groovy Chick won't reach your clit. For people with distances too large, the toy would be bent open from its C-shape during use, creating pressure which would be uncomfortable for large bends and make it very hard to keep in place as it tried to snap back to its C-shape. A distance of 35 mm or less (again estimating with my ruler and string) appears to keep the bend around 45 degrees or less. Adding 2 mm (for vaginal-urethral distance) to the numbers in - Kira -'s poll, 41% of respondents have a vaginal-clit distance of 24 to 36 mm. For everyone else (more than half of us!) the Groovy Chick is either too large or too small! For all of us, most of the clit arm of the Groovy Chick will be on the front of our body, against the mons pubis, or out in the air if the toy is bent.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Based on the numbers above, the Groovy Chick will fit very few people. It will overshoot the g-spot for almost everyone, and only properly reach the clit for under half of us.

The vibrating bullet is located on the clit side. When held in my hand, I could feel the vibrations on both sides, but when in use, the vibrations did not travel through well enough to be felt internally. I found the on/off button difficult the use, probably due to the sealing system necessary to make it water-proof. When turning it on, if I didn't press down far enough, it would go on while I had my finger on the button, but turn back off as soon as I released it. Same thing with turning it off. If I didn't press hard enough, it wouldn't go off. This can be bad if you want it off in a hurry.

Using the bullet vibe separately on its own, I found the sensation pleasant and enjoyed the tapered pointed tip, but the bullet's small size means you have to be careful to hang onto it or it'll slip out of your hand. The vibrations are definitely stronger than when used in the silicone.
    • Discreet sound
    • Not enough variety

Care and Maintenance

For everyday cleaning, use soap and water or toy cleaner. One thing I love about this toy is the ease of sterilization! To sterilize the silicone, just take out the bullet and put the silicone in boiling water, run it through the dishwasher (top rack), or soak it in 10% bleach solution. But don't include the bullet! Heat (from boiling or dishwasher) would damage the motor and bleach could damage the plastic. Rubbing alcohol can also be used on the silicone and the plastic bullet, but try to avoid the rubber washer (where the bullet cap screws in) and power button on the bullet.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging is high-quality and great for storage. Comes in a cardboard box with plastic window and lid hinged on the side. Inside is a shaped plastic tray to hold the toy. If you want something slightly smaller than the box, you could store it in a cloth pouch. Just keep it out of contact with other silicone (or other soft material) toys, least they fuse themselves together!

It comes with a small brochure with a download-able 3 month warranty, a catalog of other Rocks-Off products, and battery information (the main thing to note is that you need to unscrew the cap of the bullet, remove the plastic disc blocking the battery, and re-screw the lid before use.) Unfortunately, some of the text is so small and blurry that it is nearly unreadable.
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I thought this toy would be perfect for me. I prefer grinding over using my hands and wanted a toy I could use while sitting and reading erotica at the computer or while lying in bed. But it just doesn't fit! I especially liked the pleasant, unique design; it looks like it was designed for women, rather than to mimic a penis. Unfortunately, now I know why similar designs are so uncommon: most people just aren't shaped like that! If this style felt great to most women, they'd be best sellers and every brand would have imitations. As it is, there are just a few.

Here are my thoughts on other toys to try:
-For a shorter g-spot depth, try using one of the toys meant for couples solo: The Tiani 2 with the fuller-feeling attachment, or the We-Vibe. (The Thrill is meant for solo use, but looks like it might not be significantly shorter.)
-For closer spaced clits, an anchor- or L-shaped toy with the clit section right against the base of the insertable portion and the motor in the bottom. I haven't found any candidates I like the look of.
-For further spaced clits, perhaps try one of the toys meant for prostate massage in men, such as the Naughty Boy?

I am new to the world of sex toys, and before getting this toy, was afraid of vibrators. Electric toothbrushes remind me of the way predators (like dogs) shake their prey to kill them through brain damage, and I had never had any experience with high-end, quality vibes. I was very pleased to find the vibrations of the RO bullet mild and pleasurable. Other than some initial hesitation, I didn't feel like it was killing my cells. After making friends with that bullet, I am excited to try out larger vibes that will be easier to keep a hold of! I will keep an eye out for hands-free dual stimulation toys, because that still sounds amazing, but I am planning to try out other, more common types of vibes first. For something that works, go for what's tried-and-true!

Experience

I was really optimistic about this toy but just couldn't make it work for me! It fit most comfortably partially hanging out (about a half-inch). When fully inserted, it was uncomfortable and frustrating to have my clit on the curve section because I could FEEL I was missing out on the stronger vibrations on the firmer section above. I tried to straighten and insert it far enough to get my clit on the external arm, but that was painful! The internal portion was trying to push through the front of my body, and it was difficult to hold it open against the force trying to snap it back into its C-shape. I gave the Groovy Chick several tries but couldn't enjoy it. The RO-80 bullet, however, I liked. Now that I know I'm a fan of vibration, I can't wait to try something larger!

Amazing measurement info there! Great job! I have similar problems with my Rock Chick--the shape is a bit too U-like for me.
