Discreet massager discontinued

Oh, You'll Dance...

The Salsa is small, sleek, powerful, and rechargeable. If you've always thought you didn't need a bullet vibe, the Salsa will prove you wrong. It's great both solo and with a partner, especially if you have a partner who's intimidated by larger vibrators.

Use

The Salsa is a bullet vibrator. Due to its simple design and small size, it is quite versatile. It can be used to stimulate the clitoris, the nipples and the perineum. I would NOT recommend inserting this into the anus at all, as it is quite small and difficult to hold onto while it is vibrating. There would be a great risk of losing it, and that is not an emergency room trip that anybody wants to make.

Due to its size and design, it isn't terribly effective when inserted vaginally and would be incredibly difficult to use alone for G-spot stimulation. Due to its power, however, it could be used in combination with a dildo in order to achieve G-spot or P-spot stimulation. It can also be pleasant when stroked along the length of a penis.

Due to its silicone base, it is incompatible with silicone lubricant - I recommend using water-based lubricant with this vibrator unless you are SUPER careful. Since it is waterproof, it can be used in the shower.

Material / Texture

Most of the Salsa is made of plastic. Plastic has a safety rating of 8 on the Edenfantasys safety scale. The bottom of the Salsa is silicone, however, and the booklet that came with it advised to only use water-based lubricant with it. If you decide to use silicone lube with your Salsa, be very careful not to get lube on the base so you don't damage the silicone. That's tougher than it sounds, because due to its intense vibrations, the Salsa can be difficult to hang onto.

The plastic that the Salsa is made of is extremely smooth and rigid. There's nowhere to get a very good grip on the toy, but the plastic does a great job of transmitting vibrations. There is a very small We-Vibe Salsa logo stamp at the very base of the Salsa... but you probably won't be rubbing the base against anything, and you can barely feel it.

My Salsa initially had a "plasticky" odor that went away with its first cleaning. It now has no odor at all. It has no flavor.

The Salsa's booklet recommends cleaning it with soap and water. I spray mine with toy cleaner and then wash it with soap and very hot water.

Charger

The charger attaches magnetically to the Salsa, which is how it manages to be both rechargeable and waterproof. A yellow light indicates that it's charging - mine turns off when its done. Unfortunately, the charger is also sort of twitchy so the light being off can also mean that the charger isn't charging properly. It's my only real complaint with the Salsa's design. The magnet is secure enough that you can dangle the Salsa by the charger and it probably won't detach, not that I would go around swinging my Salsa around by its cord. You need to tug it firmly in order to detach it, but even most people with dexterity issues should be able to do so.

The Salsa looks like... well, like a bullet. It's a little larger than a tube of lipstick. It can easily be slipped between the labia, beneath a pair of panties. Because it is so small and light, it tends to stay put. It's also easy to use during intercourse. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it is so small and completely smooth and vibrates so strongly, it can be hard to hold onto it. I tend to lose my grip on mine. It doesn't help that it tends to make my fingers go numb.

Anybody who knows what a bullet vibe looks like will probably have an idea of what it is. Don't worry, though - it comes with a soft, silky-feeling storage bag with a drawstring. Due to its small size, it is very easy to conceal. It easily fits in a purse or any number of hiding spots. Because of this, and the fact that it doesn't require batteries, it travels very well.

Due to its simplicity and lack of insertable parts, the Salsa may be a good toy for a beginner. The only reservation I would have about that is that it may not be best to start off with an extremely powerful vibrator before you know what you need to get off - and the Salsa packs quite a punch.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Salsa has a single silicone button at the bottom. A firm press turns the Salsa on, and you cycle through the settings by pressing the button. Each button press switches to the next setting. The Salsa will remember which setting you last had it on when you turn it on again, which can be either nice or irritating depending on your preferences. I found the button to be a bit difficult to press at times, especially when my hands were slippery.

When I received my Salsa, I needed to charge it for 90 minutes prior to using it. The charge seems to last quite a while, although I have noticed that I sometimes need to recharge it the next day if I have had a long session and turn it off for the night. It also doesn't help that the charger is a bit finicky and the Salsa must be sitting on a perfectly level, firm surface in order to charge.

The Salsa has 8 settings. I made a chart to give a visual of what they're like. I'll also describe them:

Settings 1-4 are Low, Medium, Med-high, and High steady vibration.
Setting 5 is 9 steady pulses followed by what felt like 15 or 16 quick, high pulses.
Setting 6 is a wave that builds and trails off.
Setting 7 is high, quick, steady pulses.
Setting 8 is 2 long pulses followed by 3 shorter pulses.

Pulse Chart

When I saw how small it was, I expected buzzy vibrations from this toy. I was shocked at how rumbly its vibrations are. The higher settings can be a little loud for such a small toy, and the toy also has a distinct rattle when you apply pressure to or with it. You would definitely be able to hear it through covers, but not through a closed door or over a shower.

The Salsa is waterproof, but a bit slippery to hold onto in the shower. I can't keep a good grip on it when it's on high and I'm afraid of dropping it in the shower.

Care and Maintenance

The booklet that the Salsa came with recommends washing it with soap and water. I also use toy cleaner to clean mine. I would not recommend using silicone lube with the Salsa because, although the body of the Salsa is made of plastic, the bottom and button are made of silicone.

It is extremely easy to clean - a quick spray, wipe, and rinse and I'm done. It's very easy to conceal and also comes with a nice storage pouch.

Packaging

The Salsa came in a very nice box, and the packaging was very nice. Not super luxurious, but definitely tasteful (although it's still clear that this item is a vibrator). In my opinion, it's a nice box for gift-giving.

It also comes with a nice, white drawstring bag to store the Salsa and its charger in. The bag is well-made and the material feels soft and smooth.

Personal comments

I love my Salsa. I'm very glad I bought it, and it's the best vibrator I have. The size, power, and simplicity of it are wonderful and it has filled in an important gap in my toy collection.

Experience

When I got my Salsa, I was impressed by how well put-together the packaging was. It even came with a nice booklet! I felt more like I was opening a pricey gadget like an iPod than like I was opening a sex-toy... which I actually liked.

I let it charge and then put it to the test. I need power in order to orgasm, but the vibrations of a rabbit vibrator tend to either be too weak or powerful enough but way too focused. The Salsa was a happy medium between the blunt power of my Hitachi and the focus of my Silly Diver, and I enjoyed my first experience with it. And my second. And... you get the idea.

The vibrations are a bit too intense to apply directly to my partner's penis, but strong enough for him to feel through me, and the Salsa is small enough that it doesn't intimidate my partner or get in the way during sex. The only issues are holding onto it when things get slippery, and the fact that if I set it down without turning it off, it will "dance" its way across the bed.
