Once you go black...

For a set of beginner Kegel balls, these are well worth every penny. Feeling my body clench up around them during masturbation was... in the infamous words of Joey Lawrence, "WHOA". In just a couple weeks of use, my orgasms have become even more wonderful than they already were, and I'm thoroughly disappointed in myself for having not gotten these sooner!!

Use

The Lelo Luna Beads Noir are black, weighted Kegel Exercise balls. They are meant to be used vaginally only, and should not be used as anal beads as the balls and string can easily get "sucked up" into your bum.

Lelo has marketed the Noir balls at the "under-30 women who have not given birth" demographic. Though they are smaller than Lelo's Pleasure Bead System, they are still sizable and therefore may be intimidating to someone who is a beginner.

The idea with Kegel exercisers is to build up vaginal muscles to then increase orgasm intensity. While they are inserted, flexing your vaginal muscles will help tone and strengthen them. Since the Noir beads are weighted, you can not only feel the weights moving, but there is a very soft sound as well. It is recommended that you use them daily.

They can be used during masturbation, foreplay, or during regular day-to-day activities (household chores, office work, etc). I recommend trying a variety of everyday things while having them in - you'll find something that really feels great!!

Material / Texture

The Noir ball system is made up of plastic and silicone, with a cotton-like material for the string. The overall rating for this product is an 8.

The balls themselves are made up of a glossy plastic, which is rated 8 on the EF safety chart. One of the balls has the string attached to it, and also has "Lelo" etched in the plastic (which cannot be felt during use). Both balls have indents where the harness is meant to sit, but is otherwise completely smooth.

The harness is made out of black silicone (a 10 on EF safety chart). There is a very slight drag to the silicone, but with a dab of water-based lube, this isn't an issue. There is a very small seam in the connecting piece, but it is only noticeable when outside of your body and upon examination.

The connecting piece between each ball is flexible. The rest of the system is rigid.

Because of the materials used, water-based lubricant is recommended. According to the manual provided by Lelo, you should not use alcohol-based cleaning products.

There was no odor or taste to the Noir system.

Design / Shape / Size

The Luna Noir beads are about 1" each, with a total insertable length of 3". The pull string is about 2.5"-3" long, and should be left outside of the body while in use for easy removal. As previously mentioned, these are much smaller than Lelo's Pleasure Bead System, but are still sizable in my opinion. This vaginal exerciser is meant for women who prefer smaller balls and/or are under 30 and have not given birth.

Each ball has an inner weight that moves around while in use. There is a very slight sound that can only be heard if you're really listening.

I've only used one other set of Kegel exercise balls before, which were not only much smaller, but they were not weighted. The weight makes both a noticeable and pleasurable difference. I find that the size is not uncomfortably large (an initial worry that I had upon purchase).

The design is one that is discreet-looking to an untrained eye. Mine sat in my drying rack for several hours without anyone making a comment as to knowing their use (instead, I got questioned as to what their purpose was). Leaving them out by the bathroom sink may draw attention.

Performance

Upon the arrival of my Lelo Noir Beads, I immediately washed them and put them in. I was extremely excited to try out "Ben Wa" style balls and really understand what the hype was about. I very quickly learned that keeping them in is an experience that I can't help but recommend.

The small manual included with the system suggests trying one ball out until you're comfortable and ready to begin using both beads. To use one ball, you can use it with the harness or without, though it was recommended to use the ball with the string attached.

To use the balls, you can stand and spread your legs, or put one leg up, gently push the top in (the ball without the string should be at the top), and then slowly guide the second ball in afterwards. You can also lay down with your hips tilted. To avoid drag, and for easier insertion, a tiny bit of water-based lube can be used. The string should be left outside of the body during use for easy removal.

The Lelo manual includes both a diagram of proper placement and descriptions for where the balls should sit inside to avoid pinching.

I find that when removing the balls, there is a bit of drag that almost feels like a suction. It is not uncomfortable or painful though.

Each ball is easily popped in and out of the harness with a small amount of pressure, though not so easily that they'll come out while inserted.

Care and Maintenance

Upon arrival and unpackaging, the Lelo Noir Beads (and all other toys for that matter), should be cleaned and/or washed.

To clean, remove the balls from the harness and wash with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. The harness can be boiled (as it is silicone), but the balls cannot. Avoid any cleaning products that contain alcohol, petrol, or acetone.

Because the harness is made out of silicone, only a water-based lubricant should be used. Too much lube can make these easier to come out, so only a dab is needed.

To store, Lelo has included a small, unpadded black pull string bag. It is recommended that you do not let the silicone in the Noir system touch any of your other silicone toys.

Personal comments

I was hesitant to purchase these because I'm not sure how I feel about the Lelo brand. I hear comments all over the board about the quality, power and price of all of Lelo's products. It took several months of debating before I finally decided to get over the brand and try them for what they were.

I had also been hesitant because of an irrational fear of Kegel balls getting "lost" inside of me similar to the NuvaRing birth control, but I'm happy to report I still have both balls (ha!) and I've never had an issue removing them.

Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase and cannot recommend them enough.

Experience

As these were my first legit set of Kegel exercisers, I started off by wearing them around the house while doing housework like vacuuming, folding laundry, and doing dishes. Once I was more comfortable with them, I began wearing them out of the house and for longer periods of time. My favorite time to have these inserted is while I'm dancing, even just around the house. Even driving around town with these in is a pleasure. I could feel the weights moving as I accelerated my car and went over speed bumps. The feeling of the weights moving around is euphoric, regardless of the activity.

One of my friends picked me up and spun me around one of the first days I had these in, which put enough pressure to push these out. It was an embarrassingly hilarious experience. For some reason, I think he got more enjoyment out of that than I did.

I really enjoyed having these in while masturbating with a vibrator on my clit. I've also noticed that even after a couple weeks of use, my orgasms are stronger and more intense.
