Oooh...Oooh...Oooh....Good Vibrations

If you don't need a vibrator that is flexible for hitting your G-Spot or one that has a bulb-shaped head in order to be enjoyable, the Opis is probably a great choice to buy-- especially if it is your first silicone vibrator. It is a great way to get introduced to multi-speed vibrations.

It's a great value for the price you have a one year warranty on the product, and batteries are included in the box.

Use

This is our first silicone toy and, as a beginner, I have some mixed feelings about him. Part of my mixed feelings stem from the fact that I thought we would be using him for G-spot stimulation, but I do not find we can use him comfortably for that. However, we do find that in using him for my clitoris and for helping to exercise my Kegel muscles, he rocks. I imagine that when I do a follow-up review in two months, I may have a more positive impression of him because we will have played with him some more.

The Opis does a very good job of stimulating the clitoris. It has ten different vibration settings so there is something for everyone. However, due to his rigid design, he does not flex well to reach my G-spot. Due to this rigidity, we can only use him vaginally if I'm already warmed up. Our preferred use is to use it for stimulating my clitoris while I have the Flexi Ribbed Massager inside me.

The Opis is not recommended for anal use because he does not have a flared base.

He is also splashproof but not waterproof.

Material / Texture

The Opis is our first vibrator that is made of medical grade silicone. Because of this, he is hypo-allergenic, phthalates-free, non-porous, odorless, tasteless and latex-free.

I love the sensual feel of the material this is made of. He has no smell or taste, but his rippled texture feels good just to hold in your hand. Some of the vibration options really work well with the ripples to bring me to orgasm. I love the deep rumbly vibrations that he gives.

He is actually nice to hold in your hand and simply feel the ridges, and because of this I find it aesthetically pleasing and oddly relaxing to hold it in my hand and feel the texture.

Design / Shape / Size

For size, the Opis is 8" in length with 6 1/2" being insertable. He has a 1 1/2" diameter. The only reason I would be hesitant to recommend him to a beginner is because a beginner may not be able to handle that diameter. However, I find it to be about the same diameter as my spouse is. The Opis felt larger mainly because it is so rigid.

When it comes to clitoral stimulation, I love the design of the Opis. He almost has an velvety feeling to him and the ridges work so well against my lips. The vibration seems to be strongest along the shaft and about 1 1/2" down from the top. The variety of vibrations has something for everyone.

When it comes to using internally for the G-spot, I do not find the design nearly as comfortable. The tipped end (versus the bulb shape of a head) hits me wrong. In addition, although this is the same diameter as my other vibrators, due to the material and its rigidity, it is not as comfortable.

However, when we used it internally without trying to hit the G-spot, we found that it exercised my Kegel muscles to the point that I could grip my husband much harder when he was in me. The Opis "primed the pump" so that we both enjoyed ourselves.

For internal use, I prefer a bulb-shaped head and plan to order either the Brigit or the Girdle by Touche' in the future to see if I will enjoy those designs a bit more.

We liked the third and the last setting the best.

The vibrations are located mainly in the shaft of the Opis as the vibrator itself is located about 1 1/2" below the tip of the toy.

The control is simply a push button in the bottom of the unit. You have to cycle through the various settings by pushing on the control button and it can be very frustrating to accidentally push the button once you're on the "perfect" setting and have to start again. You can turn it off easily by holding down the button for 3 seconds.

We find the vibrator to be one bee when it's used externally, and silent when it is inside. (I sure am glad that we don't have to give bees for the person it is being used on).

Care and Maintenance

You will want to use water-based lubricants with the Opis, if you need any lubricant at all. The Opis is very easy to clean and you can simply wash him before and after using him. He won't tolerate the dishwasher because of his sonic motor, so be kind and simply use hot water and soap. Do not use alcohol on him.

Don't forget that if you are sharing with a partner you will need to use a condom.

Packaging

While the Opis is visible in the front of the box, it comes beautifully packaged in a black box with white embossed lettering and design. The back of the box contains information in four languages, plus inside the box are two small manuals with instructions for use in a total of 8 languages.

If I was giving this item as a gift, I would wrap the box up as it is because the box itself is beautiful.

Personal comments

The Opis is part of the Touche' line that is produced by Shots Media. Touche' states that their products are tested and approved for all countries they are sold in.

The Opis is not recommended for use by pregnant or menstruating women-- although I am not sure why. I would have loved to use it externally if I wasn't post-menopausal.

The Opis has a one year warranty which includes both the motor and silicone tears.

I would encourage a beginner to look at both the Opis and the Girdle and Brigit which are also in the Touche'line of products. The Brigit has the same dimensions and length as the Opis but has the bulb-shaped head. The Girdle is 1 3/4" in diameter and 7" insertable length, which makes it a slighter larger vibrator but also with the bulb-shaped head. While it is larger than both the Brigit and the Opis, the Girdle has only 5 vibration settings instead of 10.

Experience

Almost 30 years ago, my husband and I bought a vibrator at a specialty shop. It was sort of a plastic beige thing that came to tip at the end. We played with it a few times and tossed it and never used vibrators again for 30 years because the tip and the size of that vibrator hurt me.

At first, I was nervous that our experience with this vibrator would be the same. Truth be told, I do not like the way it comes to a tipped end, and if it is inserted before I am ready, it can hurt. However, when we wait until I'm ready and when I'm in the right position, this baby can give great vibrations. My honey was amazed that he could not hear it at all when it was inside of me.

Follow-up commentary
The more we've used Opis---the more I like him. Of all the vibrators we have, I think he has the deepest vibrations that really help me once I am aroused. He is probably one of our three or four most-used toys.

In spite of this, he doesn't seem to drain batteries at all. We have used him probably every other day for a month for playtimes and I think we may have changed his batteries once.

I do have two complaints about him though. I wish I'd bought the version (I forget which one it is) that has the bulbous head like a real penis. I can still use him, but I find that I prefer to have the bulb shape to grip.

Secondly, sometimes he likes to get turned on by himself. We suspect he does this in hopes of getting some action going. There will be times when our toy bag gets jiggled while being moved and the next thing we know, he's vibrating up a storm. This last weekend, we took our toy bag with us on a trip and as we were driving down the road, my husband heard something running. He kept checking the car to see what it was. As it turns out, this guy had turned himself on and was just vibrating along with the car as he went for a ride. I laughed so hard I almost cried, until I watched my husband explain the problem to our very embarrassed 27 year old son. I wound up with tears going down one cheek as I watched my son shake his head and walk away.

To keep him from turning himself on, we have to remember to loosen the battery cap after use.

Other than his constant desire to be turned on, he is a great vibrator and highly recommended by us.

I just uploaded the review but I feel like I really didn't do this toy justice. Of all of our vibrators (we have maybe 15 or so?) - he is probably one of the deepest and rumbliest we have plus he is super quiet (unless he turns himself on in a bag of toys and starts vibrating against them). I wish he was more flexible (like the Rock Star line or the Roulette line) - but he sure is fun to use.
