Oui - clitoral vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Alicia

The Oui is a unique little clitoral vibrator by California Exotics. My draw to the Oui came from its thin shape. I was thinking this might be the perfect vibe to use between my husband and me during sex. I also liked that it had only the one push button control because it would mean I wouldn't be fumbling with buttons or controls while in the heat of the moment with my husband.

When I first opened my package the Oui looked pretty promising. It has a nice little black box with beautiful writing and it looks really elegant. Inside the box there's a little spot for the Oui and also a little mesh storage bag. It is all designed very nicely, in fact the packaging might just be my favorite part of this toy. (That's never a good thing...)

I was really excited to see how thin it is. It could actually easily be placed in a pocket and it hardly even makes a bulge. It's a lot lighter then I thought it would be, the plastic actually even feels a bit cheap, like it could crack easily if it was accidentally stepped on, even with bare feet. The battery is inserted on the back of the Oui. It takes one AAA battery and it has a battery door like a remote control would have. And there's visible screws from where the Oui is put together. So far not as glamorous as it looked from inside the box, but I suppose you have to get the battery in there somehow so really, it's gonna be what it's gonna be. Ok, but the cheapness aside what I was most interested in was its power!

There is only a single speed on the Oui so I was hoping that it would be enough for me. Since I was looking at this toy to be used mainly between my body and my husband's I wasn't looking for knock my socks off vibrations. I'd leave the knocking off of the socks to my husband and just wanted this as an extra oomph. It's a very good thing that that is all I wanted the Oui for, because it barely even delivers that. When I use vibration during sex I use it when I'm on top. I can then sandwich it in and control my speed and the pressure that I use to get the correct amount of stimulation. The Oui did not poke at us, didn't get in the way and it didn't vibrate so much that it got in the way of the feel of the sex itself. This was a good thing, and I appreciated this. The Oui worked to give just a light vibration while I enjoy the natural feel of our bodies. The Oui wasn't able to give me an orgasm this way, it doesn't get credit for delivering the one that I had, but I will say that it accented it very nicely.

I did try the toy on my own, in the name of a good review I had to, just had to. I tried it on its side, upside down, flat down, moving it around, using lots of pressure, and no matter what way I moved it, it was not going to do more than tickle me. I found that the shape was too wide and too flat; it couldn't deliver enough vibration to any one spot. The plastic also didn't seem to carry the vibrations well at all, but it did carry the noise well. It wasn't as noticeable when using it between my husband and I, but on its own this toy is loud, far louder than it should be with the lackluster vibrations it provides.

Now, I fully admit I love powerful bullets and vibes. So, if you prefer more mild vibrations or are very sensitive, then the Oui might work out great for you. But for me it just left me frustrated and I was very glad at that point that the Oui was not my only toy.

My final concern and dislike for the Oui is that it's not waterproof and with the placement of the battery compartment and the button it makes it hard to clean the toy the way that I normally clean them. I like to run them under hot water, use some mild soap and then dry them off with a towel once they're clean. Well, with the Oui I can't do that because it would get the motor wet. So it needs to be wiped down, I don't normally clean my toys in this manner so the first time I used it I found myself having nothing ready to clean it with since we don't normally keep wipes in the master bathroom.
