Zippity Zap! Gotta love that!

Interested in electro-sex but too intimidated to get into it? This kit is great for beginners because of the very low speeds and intensities you can choose from. On the other hand, advanced users will love the power this thing is capable of! With 10 different settings for speed, and another 10 for intensity, you're bound to find something suited to your tastes, whether you're looking for a tingle or an intense electrical experience.
Published: July 29, 2011
Pros:
Lots of intensities/speeds, authentic medical look, unique sensation, can be used solo for massage.
Cons:
Not for everyone, lack of directions.

Use

Have you ever heard that song by MGMT that goes "Ooh girl, shock me like an electric eel. Baby girl, turn me on with your electric feel . . ."? Well, after getting this set, that song is stuck in my head.

While Shock Therapy may be intimidating to some people, it's really not too intimidating of a product once you get to using it. The shocks it can deliver range from incredibly mild to pretty intense. No matter what kind of sensations you're into, Shock Therapy is bound to please. On the lower intensities, there isn't much of a feel to the electrical stimulation, but instead, it tenses up your muscles and it more tingly than painful. I really enjoy the lower settings for relaxation and more of a massage type of stimulation. On the higher intensities, it does have a nice bite to it. I like a medium amount of pain and this was perfect.

While this set is intended for use in the bedroom, it can be used for muscle stimulation and electro massage. (In fact, I have this on my back as I'm writing this.)It is super silent. The only noise you'll have from this toy is the clicks of the buttons on the control panel. It can be worn under clothing for private play in public, or while doing chores. I put this on my arms while I was trying it out and the next day I woke up with a tinge of soreness like I had worked out. I was super impressed. While you may enjoy lighting your lover up with some love shocks, you can use this for a nice muscle simulator, as well. Another great thing about this set is that is can be fully enjoyed for a great solo experience. It's one of the few BDSM kits out there that you can use by yourself and still get the full effect. The pads can be placed on just about any area of the body you choose. Two people can share in the pleasure of this set as long as they are each on independent channels (which are the Y-shaped parts of the cord).

Nothing in this set should be inserted into anything on your body. If you're looking for internal stimulation, check out the Fetish Fantasy Series Shock Therapy Pleasure Probe. This set is also not waterproof, so don't take it in the shower with you.

A word of caution: Don't use this kit if you are pregnant, have heart problems, a pace-maker, or are being treated for any health conditions. Ask a doctor if this kit will be safe for you. Do not use on metal objects, including jewelry.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This has a very authentic medical play aspect to it. As a Psychology major, the whole idea of "shock therapy" really amuses me. Not to mention, I have a not-so-slight medical fetish. For the price, this is a really amazing set. The control panel is black and silver. The pads and the lead wire are white. The only indication of the nature of this set is the word "Pipedream" on the front of the controller, making it incredibly discreet.

The pads have a sticky gel material on them which helps them to adhere to the skin time and again. The pads are pretty sticky, but they peel off easily and without any pain. They can be washed with toy cleaner and warm water, which is an upside. After a few uses, they may begin to lose their stickiness, however. Replacement pads can be found here and come in a set of 12 for a pretty low price.

Performance

This Shock Therapy set has a ton of different functions and combinations. According to the box, there are over 100 different combinations to choose from. All you need are two AAA batteries and you're ready to go.

Modes
There are three different modes of stimulation to choose from:

Tap: Much like a throbbing sensation. Quick, short bursts. Good for blood circulation.
Modulation: More like a pressure sensation. Longer bursts. Good for reducing muscle fatigue.
Kneading: Longer, steadier bursts. Good for areas with muscular pain and tension.

Speed and Intensity
Each of these can be set independently. There are 10 levels for each. Speed controls how fast the pulsations goes. Intensity controls the strength of the electric current. Each time you switch modes, the speed and power are set back to the lowest level.

There is also a timer which will turn off the display after a certain amount of time. Apparently, there is a way to change the timer (according to the box) but I haven't been able to figure it out. There is also a picture of a person on the LCD. Different areas of the person flash when in use, but I haven't figured out this yet, either.
    • Difficult to put on / use

Care and Maintenance

I find that the box is the best place to store this toy. You'll want to make sure that you save the plastic pieces that peel off of the snaps so you can replace them on the pads after use to keep them from losing their stickiness. The best way to ensure the lifetime of these pads is to make sure that your skin is clean and dry before use. As long as you have the pads covered, you should be able to store this just about anywhere. The box is the least discreet way to store it because of the rather raunchy pictures on it.

The pads can be snapped off of the cord for easy cleaning. To wash them, use toy cleaner and warm water. This should help to extend the life of them.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The box has some rather risque pictures on it, but is a bit more informative than the rather vague instructions that come included with the kit. I had to figure it all out through trial and error, for the most part. At first, I thought something was wrong with it because nothing was changing on the LCD screen. Turns out you have to have this thing attached for it to do anything. (Silly me!)

The instructions are enough to turn it on and get it going, but they don't explain too much. Play around with it on lower speeds and intensities until you are comfortable with the controls.
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet

Experience

This was my first experience with any sort of electrical play and I think I'm in love! I find myself using this thing most to just amuse myself or get a nice massage. It is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
Follow-up commentary
I've used these pads about 15 times so far and they have still remained super sticky, which is quite impressive. The refills will probably last me a few months before I need to by more. It took me a little bit to be able to work myself up to the highest intensity, but now it's more exciting than intimidating.

  • Shock Therapy Questions from a beginner
    • I never thought I'd order this, but curiousity has killed the cat.

      My questions:
I have several piercings. Is it okay to leave them in during use as long as I don't put the pads on the metal?

I've read some things that say that you shouldn't do them on your nipples. I don't know a lot about electricity, but I'm wondering if it's safe to use it on one nipple at a time and if the warnings come when you are just using one on each nipple, or is hte chest area not safe at all?

Any advice, or fun things I should try (hot spots, etc.) would be appreciated!

Anyone? It should be here in a couple of days, and I'm really anxious to try it out.... but I've never used one before so I want to make sure that I'm covering all of the obvious things that I might not think of.

I don't know the answers to your questions but I was curious about the product so I read some of the reviews. I think some of your answers are in the reviews. Looks like you have to have all four pads attached for it to work. Not sure about the piercing safety. Good luck and have fun. I'm not sure I would be brave enough to try it ;O

  • Little person with flashing parts on the Shock Therapy Kit
    • I was quite perplexed by what this did, as different parts of the person would flash but there weren't any instructions about it.

I e-mailed their customer service and they told me that the little person on the LED is a design flaw and that they never actually developed the function that they were going to use it for.

Just in case any of you out there were wondering. :P
    • All I read was "little person with flashing parts". >_>

      Heck, Miss Debauchery,

Right now, that's about the ONLY part of MY unit that IS working!

GEESH!!! I just posted a 1-star review based on what appears to be a DOA unit. But I REALLY want to discover it's "operator error" on my part. So any tips you may provide would be MOST appreciated. (Perhaps I could even "service your needs," whatever they may be [weg], at some point?!?)

  • Fetish Fantasy Series Shock therapy kit Question...
    • I just got this delivered today and am MAJORLY digging it! Though I have to ask, just how safe is this toy on genitals (both penises and vaginas :P) and highly sensitive spots (nipples, butt cheeks, etc etc)? I know there are different shocky items available via Pipedream elsewhere (like the cock cage or probe) but I worry about frying nerve endings and other scary stuff :S

I've wondered the same thing. The instructions don't tell you not to and I'm sure the box wouldn't have them placed where they are if you couldn't do that. All it says is not to use it anywhere internal. I think in the adult video review on the page, it is actually put in some sensitive spots. I'm not brave enough to try it yet.

I'd say that if you wanted to try it, start it off on the lowest intensity. I can barely feel that one on most of my body.
    • I guess it depends on the intensity and what your comfort level is.

  • Adhesive
    • I'm slightly sensitive to adhesive, especially the kind found on band-aids. Does anyone know how the adhesive on these pads compares to band-aids (like is it stronger or weaker than that on a band-aid)?
    • Sounds like a good question to post here.

I'm very sensitive to adhesives too, this would be interesting to find out.
    • Its pretty strong id be weary

    • If so, did you enjoy it? What was it like?
If not, are you interested in it?
    • I have not. But I want to try it out and see if I would like it or not.
    • Haven't tried it, not sure if I will because I'm a little scared. However, it does look kind of interesting.

It was a tickling sensation, I am not into the pain fullness of things either, and it is by far not a painful thing, but the higher you crank it the more you will get so I guess for some it could get painful

  • Shocking!
    • What are the best parts of the body to use this one, and why? Also what are your personal favorites?
    • Quote: What are the best parts of the body to use this one, and why? Also what are your personal favorites?
In the sexual realm, we tried several areas such as breasts including nipple area. If the nipples are EXTREMELY sensitive, I advise to avoid that area directly and work on the area surrounding them. Inner thighs are also very good places to explore with this as is the bottom of the buttocks. For muscle massage instead of using for sexual stimulation play, any muscle area is good but I would avoid facial areas. Always start on the very lowest settings and increase slowly. If anyone has a history of medical problems relating to heart or seizures, I advise speaking with their doctor first as a normal precaution.
    • Great video!

Does anyone know if this is less intense than the neonwand? I am having a difficult time talking my friend into trying the wand, and thought maybe this would be more her style.
