Play while you ~play~

The OhMiBod is an amazing and ingenious toy. It has so many uses that the $60 price tag is well worth it. I would recommend this toy alone above any other for a beginner user, and even those better versed in sex toys can take immense enjoyment from the OhMiBod.

Use

The OhMiBod is a multifunctional vibrator. It runs off of 2 AA batteries and has two different end caps that controls the functionality of the toy. The main use of the toy integrates music and sound with the vibration patterns through the included headphone splitter and end cap with a headphone jack. The other end cap has seven pre set vibration patters so the toy can be used as a stand-alone vibrator.

It is not waterproof, so use in the tub is not a good idea.

The design of the toy is such that it could be used vaginally or anally, for direct clitoral stimulation or general teasing all over the body. This particular toy in the OhMiBod line isn't ideal for g-spot stimulation, but there are other toys (NaughtiBod) that are designed to work with your music device and stimulate the g-spot.

If going from anal use to vaginal use, make sure to sanitize and clean the toy, or cover with a condom during anal play.

Material / Texture

The OhMiBod is made of smooth white plastic and the end caps are chrome. Plastic is a non-porous, phthalates free, latex free material. There are no noticeable texture differences along the shaft of the toy, but the two end caps are different. The one that controls the preset patterns is flat on the end, while the one that is used with headphones is rounded.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

The OhMiBod is long and thin, and in my opinion discrete looking. It measures almost 5 ½ inches from the tip to where the end cap screws down. It's not thick, at only an inch in diameter. It's got no curves, bumps or ridges to it. Its small size makes it a great toy for beginners or advanced users, and it is especially comfortable for those that fall into the 'petite' category.

Mine came with a pink pouch that says '"OhMiBod" in white letters, so, while the pouch hides the toy, it's not the most discrete packaging ever. The pouch does keep all the chords and end caps and batteries together, so you don't have to worry about digging around to find a component of the toy. It also allows for convenient and easy travel; just toss the pouch in a bag (or carry it around if you're bold).

Functions / Performance / Controls

Because of the two different end caps, the OhMiBod is like having two different vibrators in one.
If you choose to use it without music, you'll find that there are seven different pre-set vibration patterns. There are the three traditional 'low, medium, high' settings, the low being a dull rumble and the high being a lip biting, whimper inducing intense buzzing. The next four are patterns that mix both intensity and frequency. One reminds me of the revving of a chainsaw, another cycles through the low, medium, high, and what I like to call the 'holy fuck oh my god' intensity with a little pause between each vibration. One is just a dull rumble that builds to the medium setting and dies back down, and the last has an odd pattern that I don't use. These are all controlled by the cap that is flat on the end, with two raised buttons. The triangular button is the start/next button, and the circular one stops it.
The rounded end has a headphone jack, and the traditional OhMiBod comes with a splitter. One end goes into the cap, one end goes into a headphone jack on whatever you're using to play the music, and there's another split off of this cord that you can plug your headphones into so that you can hear the music as well as feel it.

The OhMiBod is run off of two AA batteries. For being such a powerful toy, it doesn't eat through them. Using mine nearly every day, multiple times a day, the first set of batteries lasted almost three weeks. When the batteries are running low, the toy gets a little buggy. Sometimes it won’t switch off, and you have to completely unscrew the end and end the circuit, or sometimes it'll just stop with no warning.

For being such a powerful toy, the sound level on its highest setting isn't that high. On the lower settings, it is nearly completely muffled by my comforter, on the highest it can be barely heard through a closed door.
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings
    • Not very discreet

Care and Maintenance

The OhMiBod is plastic, so a quick wipe down with a warm soapy washcloth, toy cleaner, or even an antibacterial hand wipe will clean and sanitize the toy, which is especially important if going from anal to vaginal use. Because it isn't waterproof, one must be extremely careful to not get water around the end caps or down inside the battery compartment. Other than that, it is an extremely low maintenance toy.

If you need lubricant, this toy is compatible with water and silicone based lubricants.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

When my OhMiBod arrived, it came in a thin, rectangular box. Included were the toy, the two caps, the splitter cord, and a pink pouch to store it all in. Also included were two 'Dead Batteries', batteries that are extremely long lasting and covered in a really cool design.

My toy also came with a little instructional manual that described how to put the batteries in, how to store it, and proper care of the toy. It even had suggestions on how the toy best performs when plugged into an iPod or other mp3 player.
    • Good for storage
    • Very informative

Experience

When I first got the toy, I wasn't sure how exactly it would respond to the music, as the site description is kind of vague. I soon found out why; each song elicits a different response from the toy. It doesn't just pick up the bass and ride that out for the duration, it picks up whatever is loudest on the track...be it the vocal, the guitar, or the drums. The different vibrations and patters that you can get within a single song sent me to new heights with my orgasms. Because it is so thin and easy to hold on to, I was able to use this toy directly on my clit and use another to...well...fuck myself silly.

It took some trial and error, but I found what settings worked best for me. When used with music, having the volume at about 75% got the best reaction. Too loud, and the toy was too powerful, too low and the toy stayed at a dull rumble on even the most intense parts of a song.

The toy also reacts to someone talking, so having it plugged into my computer and having someone talking to me via Skype set the toy off.

Overall, this toy is absolutely amazing. Until the day I run the motor out, this toy will have a number one spot in my toybox.
Follow-up commentary
I still love my ohmibod. I love the concept so much that I just bought the freestyle w.

The problem with the traditional ohmibod is now that it's getting a little older and been put through the ringer, the motor is starting to sound like a rumbling car engine rather than the nice, quiet toy I remember. It still works, but with the noise level and my current living situation I can't use it as often as I'd like.

I'm gonna miss this toy when it finally kicks the bucket. If given the option again to purchase I most definitely would have...or I would've opted for the wireless freestyle right off the bat.

If you're still not sure about the ohmibod line but want to try it, I really do recommend this cheaper (in price, not function) toy in the line. It's an absolutely amazing purchase and there's never been a day that I regretted buying it.

the unit should not heat up like that when plugged in. one of the reasons that it would do this is if the batteries were placed in the device backward causing a short in the circuitry that converts the audio signal into a higher dc power signal for the motor. always use the standard non headphone cover and test to see if the unit works before using the headphone adapter.

if the unit does not work with the standard cover the batteries might be in wrong, once it works with the standard cap switch to the music cap and try a source like a mp3 player/PC/ something with a standard headphone jack. the iphones have a bit of a different headphone jack style with an extra set of contacts for the iphone headsets so if the jack does not go fully in may cause a short in the vibrator.

I love to party alot in groups. Would the ladies like this? Would they be fun at parties?

I think this would be good for parties, especially if there's music. There's a version of the OhMiBod that actually picks up the ambient sound in a room -- you might want to have a look at that one!
    • To me, it seems like that would be a better use than in private. Seems like the novelty would wear off if you only used it alone.

    • I was wondering if anyone knows if a phone with an mp3 player built in would work with an OhMiBod vibrator?
    • I replied to your post in the other thread in which you asked this question, but here it is again.

The reviews on the product page state:

"If you don’t have any kind of portable mp3 player, the Naughti Nano can be used with any CD player, computer, or other device that has an audio out option (small jack) for headphones."

From Sammi's review, which can be read here.
    • Yeah, it can. The only thing that the OhMiBod "links" into is your headphone jack. If it can take a headphone jack, you're good.
