Ripples of Pleasure

Overall, I found this toy to be quite nice. If you are looking for a very textured, girthy toy, and you do not care too much about vibration strength, then this is the toy for you. It is well made, but not very strong. It is definitely not a beginner toy, but if you know that you like texture and girth, this would be worth the money.

Use

Fun fact: our word cupid comes from the latin noun cupido which means desire. Now, while this cute vibrator is pretty and pink, I'm not sure how much I desire it. The picture is a bit deceiving. This bad boy is big, thick and very textured. The ribbing is definitely intense. And, because the Cupid Ripples is so girthy, you really do feel every ripple. The Cupid Ripples is definitely an internal vibe; the vibrations are at the base of the vibrator and can not be felt well at the head, negating the possibility of using this as a clit vibrator. This is definitely not a beginner toy either. The ribbing is much to intense. If you are a person who knows you like girthy, textured toys, then this would be the perfect vibrator for you. For those who are not so used to texture...? Ouch!

Material / Texture

The toy is made from TPR silicone, which is a silicone based rubber compound. It rates a 6/10 on Eden's safety scale, but it is porous. The material itself resembles silicone; it is odorless, tasteless, and smooth. It is very very soft at the top, but on the body, it is as hard as plastic. I do not know for sure, but I think that the top bit is completely TPR silicone while the bottom is just TPR silicone covering something else; the bottom is just so unbend able!

There is a bit of a drag, especially near the ripples, so a dollop of water based lube would be a good bet. Also, I've found that my Cupid Ripples tends to pick up a lot of lint when lying around. But, with a careful washing, it is not too big of an issue.

The texture really is the crux of the vibrator. The texture is hard to describe. The toy's texture reminds me of the texture on the base of some ribbed handles of hair brushes. It is closely spaced, soft and tugs. It is hard to thrust with because the toy just does not want to come out! With lube, it is much better, but it is a bit difficult to thrust hard with it. Like I mentioned before, this texture is not for beginners!

Design / Shape / Size

The Cupid Ripples is a traditional vibrator. It is not very good for g spot stimulation--the head is just too flexible. It is quite straight up and down with a bulbous head and a thick body. The ripples begin at the bottom of the head and extend about 3.5 inches. The entire vibrator is 7 3/4 in. With 6 of that insertable. I repeat, do not let the pictures fool you! This is a big vibrator. It is long, and it is thick. It is 5 1/2 in. In circumference and 1 5/8 in. In diameter! Therefore, it is not discreet at all and is not very suitable for traveling.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Cupid Ripples was quite weak and very buzzy. It is not very loud, but it is also not whisper quiet. You will not be able to hear it through covers or closed doors. Now, the vibrations themselves are located near the center of the toy and do not travel well through the silicone. I can not feel the vibrations at all in the head! It is completely centered in the body.

There is one button that you press that will cycle through the different options.
1. Weak Constant
2. Medium Constant
3. Strong Constant
4. Weak to Strong Wave
5. Slow Pulsation
5. Fast Pulsation
6. Strongest Constant
7. Multi Speed Constant

It is extremely odd that the strongest setting is placed second to last. I personally dislike patterns, so I am loathe to cycle through 5 settings just to find the 'strongest' one. I also do not think that the strongest setting is really much stronger than strong. All of the settings are not very strong. I think it is because the vibrations are too buzzy, which makes it very difficult for it to be felt when inserted. Also, the push button, while not difficult to use, is annoying when you just want to turn the vibrator off. There is no off button; you have to cycle through all seven to turn it off.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

The Cupid Ripples is relatively easy to take care of. It does attract lint, but not overly so. The ridges make it a bit difficult, but it is low maintenance. It is made of TPR silicone so water, and some soap or toy cleaner can be used, but it can not be fully sterilized. It has no flared base, so be very very careful if you are going to use it anally. But, if you do please use a condom because TPR can not be sterilized! The Cupid Ripples is compatible with water based lubes only. Because TPR is silicone based, silicone lubes will interact negatively with your toy, which would not be good.

Packaging

The packaging was pretty basic. It came in a clamshell plastic case inside of a cardboard box with flaps that open up to show a view of the toy. It was interesting to note the English on the box. Something was just off. It was not horrendous English, but you could just tell that this was not manufactured by an American company. My guess, which later proved correct, was that this was a Chinese company. And, lo and behold, I was right! The grammar was not a big deal and the packaging was standard, and gave good information about how to use the toy and the toy's features.

Personal comments

Personally, I don't use this toy very often. The texture is just too much for me. I'm still not used to very girthy toys and the Cupid Ripples is very girthy. The combination of the girth and the extreme texture means that I only use the Cupid Ripples if I have a lot of time to warm up. It's definitely not a quicky toy!
Follow-up commentary
I'm just not digging the huge girth and the ripples. When I'm very very warmed up, this can feel quite good; but I realized I'm just not that into texture.
