The Fly Micro from Fun Factory is a fun little silicone vibrator that shines at external stimulation, while also allowing some internal exploration. It's an excellent choice for beginners, as it's safe, cute, and non-threatening, yet perfectly capable of getting the job done.

Naturally, I took it apart. More on that later.

As for anal use, that's a big no. This little toy lacks a flared base, and could very easily disappear into regions only accessible by ER doctors. Avoid embarrassment, and play safe.

The main body of the Fly is made of body safe silicone. It's odorless, phthalates free, latex free, and non porous. It's a soft, squishy, and very flexible silicone with a matte finish. The Fly has some mild texture, which can be used for additional stimulation, or avoided if desired.

Both beginners and advanced users should easily find a use for the Fly.

The Fly is a discreet shape which will not easily be recognized as a sex toy. Left out on a desk, it could easily be mistaken for a pencil eraser, a cute top for a magic marker, or the handle to something. It's decorated with raised butterflies, which provide texture during use, and it comes with a removable vibrating bullet.

Thanks to its small size, the Fly can easily be stashed in a purse or overnight bag, so it's perfect for travel.

At less than four inches in length, it allows for exploratory insertion, but is better suited to external stimulation for most users.

The vibrations are located in the inserted bullet, yet can be felt throughout the small body of the toy. The included bullet has three settings -- gentle teasing, a nice medium, and a higher level that I personally disliked, although I suspect I'll be in the minority with that opinion. They were slightly buzzy in nature, but less so than some other bullets I've encountered. The lowest setting is extremely quiet, while the highest can be heard only in a silent room. It cannot be heard through a closed door, or with any music playing.

The watch batteries in the bullet lasted three uses, and then started to weaken. I tossed the bullet into a bag with other plastic toys, where it will live out its life in darkness, ignored and friendless. But don't despair! The body of the Fly -- the good part -- is perfectly compatible with other vibes. Better vibes.

With a drop of lube, I inserted my beloved Little Steel (basically the Little Chroma from Jimmyjane) into the Fly, and this created much joy. The pitch-perfect vibrations transferred beautifully through the silicone, creating a whole new sensation.

In fact, the Little Steel and the Fly worked so brilliantly together that I really had to force myself to even try other bullets with the Fly, but it also worked brilliantly with the Evolved Beaver Shot.

Always use a bit of water-based lubricant when inserting a bullet or other small vibe into any silicone toy, as it's all too easy for a bullet to get stuck in a toy.

The Fly, even with its own bullet, is waterproof, and therefore can be washed in hot, soapy water, or toy cleaner. For sterilization, it can be wiped down with a 10% bleach solution, or boiled for three minutes with the bullet removed. It will pick up lint, but it can be wiped down with a baby wipe before use.

I store mine in a small satin gift bag, but any lint-free cloth will do. Silicone toys should not be allowed to touch toys made of silicone composites like TPR, or any toys of unknown composition. The chemicals in such composites will attempt to bond with the silicone in your toy, melting the two into one gooey lump of useless tragedy.

Likewise, never use a silicone based lubricant with a silicone toy, as the chemicals will recognize the material of your toy as part of the lubricant, causing a permanently sticky texture. Stick with water based lubricants with silicone toys.

If you plan to use the included bullet, as most users will, use a small piece of paper to keep the batteries separate from the contact during storage. That will extend their life and help protect the bullet from corrosion during extended storage.

The Fun Factory Fly came in a cute little cardboard box, with detailed instructions in a wide variety of languages. All of the packaging was recyclable. Since the package was tasteful, yet lacked complete discretion, it would make an appropriate gift in any situation where a sex toy is an appropriate gift, but it should not be opened in mixed company.

The packaging would have made adequate, but not exceptional, storage, and I did not keep mine.

I bought this toy for the sole purpose of using it with my Little Steel, so I'm absolutely delighted with it. Those users who are not addicted to the Little Steel will probably be perfectly satisfied with the included bullet, and it would probably last a few extra uses with proper precautions.
