Secret Flowers for Your Vase

While these ben wa balls are super cute and made from quality glass, they are essentially flawed. Not only are they a bit too small to be used comfortably without a string, they are also too light to give your Kegels a real workout. In short, great design, poor execution.

Use

These Glass Ben Wa Balls by Topco Sales are a pretty and inexpensive way to get the strong Kegels that we all so desire. But buyer beware that these are intended as Kegel exercisers--that's it. They are made for vaginal insertion only, and designed to give your lady muscles a healthy work out to get that sexy tight feeling. So while it's a major turn-on to walk around with these babies in and no one the wiser, don't expect them to induce mind-blowing orgasms.

That said, these really are lovely little Ben Wa balls... and I do mean little! These are best suited for someone with previous experience using vaginal balls as the beginner may have a hard time getting them out. They can be used at any time, really, as you can wear them without worry of anyone knowing they're there. There are no strings to worry about hiding (which may actually be a drawback for some users), and no sound to deal with, making these just your dirty little secret.

However, be prepared to work a little bit to be able to comfortably use these.

Material / Texture

These ben wa balls are made of pyrex glass, meaning that they are smooth to the touch but extremely hard. It also means that they do not have any noticeable smell (or taste, though these aren't exactly the type of toy you'd want to be putting in your mouth anyway). However, even as a glass beginner, I did not find them to be difficult to use (material-wise, at least). The smooth texture does not add any stimulation, but these are strictly meant as exercise tools, so I didn't find that to be a problem at all. These are ideal for use by anyone interested in ben wa balls, so long as they are comfortable with the size.

Design / Shape / Size

These definitely get an A for overall design and presentation. They are probably one of the cutest vaginal exercisers on the market. Each ben wa ball features a small yellow and green flower design inside of the glass, so you get a smooth surface and visual appeal.

The shape and size resemble that of a shooter marble (the larger ones). While this makes them incredibly easy to insert, the size may be a bit too small for most users to comfortably use as it has, in my experience, made them more difficult to remove. The flip side of this is that the small size may be suited for users in the beginner range who are simply looking to strengthen their Kegels and don't necessarily need the tightening benefits as well. Because of this dilemma, I recommend that users carefully consider which is more important-- size or ease of removal.

The box that these come in is small enough to travel with, and outwardly appears to be a jewelry box. While it may be hard to explain exactly why you have what appears to be two high-quality marbles in a case, as long as the box remains closed, these are very discreet.

Performance

While the design is great, the overall performance is only okay. Since these were actually my first pair of ben wa balls, I was relieved to find that insertion was very easy. In retrospect, it was perhaps too easy. Though these are small enough for people who prefer to use toys in the beginner range, they are better suited for someone used to removing loose ben wa balls. Without a string to make removal easier, I found that it took over ten minutes of trying to relax my muscles, gentle pushing, and some prodding around in there to finally get the first one out. The second one took less time, but it was still a hassle.

There is also the fact that these are not very weighted. Not only could I barely feel them, but as I discovered upon attempting to remove them, they tend to travel upwards a bit.

Care and Maintenance

Pyrex glass is the best glass used in toy manufacturing. It can withstand greater temperature changes and is more resistant to chipping than other types of glass. Pyrex glass is also non-porous and hypoallergenic, as well as phthalates-free, making it one of the safest materials. As a result, cleaning these is a breeze; simply wipe them down with antibacterial soap and hot water or use your favorite toy cleaner. Glass is also compatible with all lubes. After clean up, simply return these to their case and tuck them away.

Packaging

These came in their container and in plastic packaging. On the whole, I think the plastic packaging is unnecessary and actually cheapened the overall appearance. However, the actual little velveteen and satin-y case is adorable and the perfect storage. As I previously mentioned, it is discreet enough to pass as a jewelry box as long as it remains unopened. It also makes a cute little gift box!

Follow-up commentary
I've recently attempted to use these ben wa balls again, just to see if I could handle how small they were now. It was a no go. Even though I've been doing Kegels for a while now, these are simply impossible. Not to keep in, no they say in fine... but to GET OUT! They're not worth all the pushing and panicking and such. Even when I completely relaxed they wouldn't come out easily. Ack! Maybe I'll just use them as pretty marbles.

I remember seeing these all the time in Chinatown. Mom told me they were to exercise your hands. I don't know that's what she truly thought or if she was protecting me.

Either way, if you want to exercise your hands with these; try spinning them around each other in one palm, using only that palm to move them. Kinda fun.

Good review! Sorry, I got kinda off subject

How odd I've never had problems removing these little guys! I guess maybe we are shaped just enough differently that it's a pain in the ass for you! That sux cause these are soooo pretty.

They are! I'm going to try out the Emigi and see if I have a better time when there's a retrieval string. Maybe I'll turn these into earrings! Imagine running into someone who has seen these before while you have them dangling from your ears... heh

    Great review and video!

I knew these balls were small, but when you put them next to the quarter, it was very clear how small they ARE! Thank you. That was a great presentation. You have small hands, like I do, so they looked bigger, UNTIL you showed them next to the quarter. I know I'd have a hard time getting these out.

    Thank you.

Oh, you might want to look into Fun Factory's Smart Balls. I did a review on them a while ago, and I LOVE mine. I have no problem inserting them, keeping them in, exercising with them or taking them out. They have a retrieval string made of TPR silicone (that's what the box calls it) and they are really great exercise balls for many people.

Those with really small or extremely tight vaginal openings may have a more difficult time with the Smart Balls, and I have learned that women with a tilted uterus can't use them at all. But, you might get a good experience with them.

Awesome review. These will be my first Benwa balls. And as I am already fairly tight I think they will work ok for me.

Yeah, I was worried about getting them out too. I think I may try a different set. Thanks!

I have these as well and I also found that they were somewhat difficult to extract. Mostly because they do travel upwards . If you are interested I find the easiest way to do it is to apply gentle pressure with one finger to the upper wall of the vagina while using your muscles to push them back down. Hope that helps!
  • Contributor: cherryredhead88
Holy crap they don't look that small, even in your video, until you put them next to the quarter! Thanks for the review

Wonderful video! I really want to get these to try them out. They are amazingly pretty (both the ben wa balls and the packaging) for the price. I just hope I can get them out without panicking.

Oh, and I absolutely love your nail polish!
