Serenity now, insanity later!

The Serenity is a well-made, wonderful to use toy that comes in a beautiful metal tin. The material has all the pros of jelly with none of the cons. It is squishy and comfortable, but still has a bit of girth to it. Sadly the anatomy dependent nature of rabbits means it will not work for some users, like me, but it still packs a pretty decent punch, and has a very nice shaft.

Use

The Serenity by Evolved is designed to be a dual stimulation, “rabbit” type vibrator. It has two separate vibrating motors in it, with one universal button that controls both motors. There is a motor in the shaft, right beneath the hooked tip to stimulate your g-spot. (The shaft only vibrates, it does not rotate as some other rabbit toys do.) It also sports another, smaller bullet in the clitoral arm to stimulate you externally as well.

Even though the Serenity is designed for g-spot and clitoral stimulation, its small, compact size lends itself to stimulating any external areas. It can be run across the nipples, testicles, penis or perineum.

As is the case with all rabbit, or dual stimulation, toys the Serenity is very much anatomy dependent. You can find a discussion on anatomical measurements on this thread in the Women’s Sexual Health Forum on the message board. Taking the measurements to learn how far your clitoris is from the top of your urethra may help you narrow down which style of rabbit vibrator will work best for your anatomy. (I discuss detailed measurements and rabbit sizing further down in this review.)

Material / Texture

The shaft and clitoral arm of Evolved's Serenity are made of body safe, latex and phthalate-free TPR, a rubber compound with a safety rating of 7. It is more porous than silicone, and cannot be sanitized with boiling water. Due to the slightly porous nature of TPR, it is recommended that you use a condom if you plan to share this toy. The TPR used to make this toy is very squishy, it feels very similar to jelly, but is a bit firmer. It has a very faint smell if you hold it closely up to your nose, but it is not bothersome. It has a fair amount of drag to it when in contact with skin, so you will need to use a lubricant with this toy for insertion. The material works as a lint magnet, so you will probably want to give it a quick rinse before using it.

The Serenity is mostly smooth, with a slightly wavy pattern on the shaft and clitoral arm. The texture is not noticeable during use, and would be fine for anyone who doesn't enjoy much texture on their toys.

The handle, and screw top to the battery compartment, are made of a velvety coated plastic with the Evolved logo on the front.

Design / Shape / Size

Basic Measurements:

- 8” long
- 4.5” insertable.
- 5” circumference
- 1.6” diameter

As far as rabbit vibrators go, this one is fairly small. That makes it easy to store and hide, even though it isn’t really a discreet toy. It would be suitable for travel since it is very flexible. Although it doesn’t have a locking mechanism, the batteries can be removed so it won’t turn on while traveling or being stored.

This really is a well-designed toy. There is a motor in the shaft, about 1.25” down from the tip. The motor is basically a very large bullet, with a cord floating down the middle of the shaft to the battery compartment. This means that the rest of shaft is the TPR material all the way through, making it very squishy and flexible. The entire shaft can easily and safely bend at a 90° angle.

The tip is nicely curved to hit your g-spot, and the vibrating motor kicks the stimulation up a few notches. The motor in the shaft is its widest point, and it measures about 5” in circumference, or 1.6” in diameter. While it should be comfortable for most users, it may leave size queens wanting just a bit more. The squishy nature of the shaft makes it extremely comfortable.

The tip of the shaft is a bit thinner, at 4.75” in circumference, or about 1.5” in diameter. Right below the motor in the shaft, it is also 4.75” in circumference, or 1.5” in diameter. The motor basically serves as a firm bulge in the shaft, with both the tip and the base of the shaft tapering back down just a bit.

There is another motor located in the clit arm. The arm measures about 2” long.

*Discussion of anatomical measurements and rabbit “sizing”*

The ratio of insertable length to clit arm length on this toy does not work with my anatomy. If you browse the thread I linked to in the “Use” section, you can see there is a large range of variability in the distance between the urethral opening and the clitoris. My measurement is approximately 40 mm (or about 1.5”). The clit arm on the Serenity is too short for me, and does not reach the intended location. I have more success with rabbits that have longer clit arms. The Passion Wave Stimulator, for example, fits my anatomy perfectly. The clit arm on that rabbit measures 3” long, one full inch longer than the clit arm on the Serenity. So take a few moments to learn what the distance is between the top of your urethra and your clitoris, and it will be much easier for you to find a rabbit style vibrator that works well for you. If the distance between your urethra and your clitoris is very small, a shorter clit arm on a rabbit should work for you, but if the distance is larger, go for a rabbit with a longer clit arm. Alternatively, if taking your measurements seems too involved for you to actually do, you may be interested in a product such as The Vibokit, which will allow you to make your own customized rabbit out of any dildo you already own. Then you can compare the design you’ve created with rabbits already on the market.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations in this toy are located in both motors; one in the shaft, near your g-spot, and one in the clit arm. Both motors are controlled by one button on the bottom of the toy’s base. The button is conveniently located for pushing, almost too convenient. I have accidentally bumped the button and turned the toy completely off during use. That can be a frustrating experience, but it is also easy to turn it back on again fairly quickly if that happens.

This toys runs on 2 AA batteries, and the directions for inserting the batteries are on the toy, under the screw on top. There are 3 power settings: low, medium and high. For a toy that just takes two AA batteries, it has a surprising amount of power, and isn’t terribly loud. While it can be heard from underneath a blanket, it can’t be heard through a closed door. The vibrations are not as buzzy as those of bullet style toys in my experience, but they are definitely not what I would consider rumbly. They are fairly shallow vibrations and just a bit buzzy. Unfortunately, the motors cannot be controlled separately. The motor in the shaft is significantly more powerful than the motor in the clit arm.

Power Settings:

Low
shaft: 2 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi on level 2)
clit arm: 1.5 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi between levels 1 and 2)

Medium
shaft: 3 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi on level 3)
clit arm: 2 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi on level 2)

High
shaft: 4 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi on level 4)
clit arm: 3 vrooms, 3 bees (comparable to the Je Joue MiMi on level 3)

This toy is completely waterproof, as long as the battery compartment is tightly closed. Being submerged does not weaken the vibrations, though it does make them slightly louder.
    • Discreet sound
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

This toy is extremely easy to care for. If the battery compartment is tightly closed, it is waterproof, making cleaning a breeze. Simply toss it in the sink and let the hot water run over it, and then soap it up with your preferred soap (or toy cleaner) and give it a thorough rinse. There are no nooks and crannies for dirt to hide in on this toy, so a simple wash up will be all it needs.

Storage is simple with the beautiful metal tin the Serenity comes in. You can store it right in the box it comes in, or if you need to streamline your storage due to lack of space, it fits nicely in a toy pouch or an old sock. When storing, make sure your Serenity does not come into contact with any other toys made of TPR or any other material. When composite toys are stored touching other toys, they will start to break down, or "melt", over time, ruining them.

Use only water based, silicone or hybrid lubes with this toy, and any other toys made of TPR. The composite material does not interact well with oil based lubricants.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
    • Low maintenance

Packaging

The Serenity comes in a beautiful metal tin with a clear, acrylic lid, and metal latches on both ends. It would be wonderful for gift giving, and is definitely suitable for storage. It isn’t particularly discreet though, because the lid is clear and you can see the toy lying inside. Be aware of this for gift giving if you don’t want to embarrass the recipient.
