Shredder Petals

The Pleasure Petals is an admirable effort but a huge disappointment in function. There couldn't be a worse toy for shared living or mood killing. It is very loud and the textures will undoubtedly scare away beginners. It might have its place in the toy box though, with it's wildly thumpy vibrations. These are some powerful, deep and rumbly vibrations. If only the design were sleeker, slimmer or just more comfortable.

Use

The Pleasure Petals is a traditional style vibrator made by NMC Ltd, a manufacturer located in Asia, for Edenfantasys. It is torpedo shaped but diverges from other traditional vibrators with the elaborate texture it possesses.

Petals is loud in more ways than one, the design is ostentatious for beginners to texture and not to mention the noise it makes. These vibrations will pound you like a jackhammer, and sound like one too. If a quiet vibrator is what you seek, this one is not it.

Otherwise, the vibrations are deep and rumbly. The vibrator can be used vaginally or externally. It will stimulate the clitoris or nipples, or even the perineum and shaft of the penis. It works well enough for clitoral stimulation during intercourse, though a bit unwieldy. For a solo session, use it alone or paired with another toy. As there is no flared base, it is ill-advised to use this anally unless a firm grip is maintained.

Material / Texture

Petals is made of body-safe plastic. It is non-porous and does not contain phthalates. Plastic rates at an 8 on Eden's safety scale.

The vibrator is not all that small to begin with. However, the unforgiving rigid plastic combined with ample textures make it feel a whole lot bigger than it is. Plastic does not flex and will not give in to any external touch.

The soft matte finish is burdened by intricate raised floral designs. This pattern is random and inconsistent on either side. While the stems do not feel all that bad to the touch, the flowers themselves are irritably rough. Consider lubricant as Petals' reliable sidekick and their use in conjunction is highly recommended. This vibrator will find a welcoming home in that of a texture lover's but will leave beginners wanting much much less. Aesthetically, there is a seam that runs around either side of the vibrator that can not be felt during use.

Initially, the Petals had a slight plastic smell. This was not strong or bothersome and has since faded.

Design / Shape / Size

This salmon pink vibrator is visually appealing, boasting its fun and feminine patterns. It comes in four colours but is only offered in the pink on Edenfantasys. It is perfectly straight and tapered at the tip. The tip comes to a distinct point and the textures only begin 1.5 inches down the shaft. The cap is clear with grooves around the edge. These grooves provide a slightly better grip when twisting the dial control.

The Petals measures 7.5 inches in total length. Roughly 6.5 of those inches are insertable. At its largest point, it is about 4.25 inches in circumference. That's just above 1.25 inches in diameter. Sadly, this is not the girth one can look forward to. It is important to keep in mind how much larger it feels internally due to the firmness of material and involvement of textures.

Albeit, the Petals is not phallically shaped, it will be easily recognized as a sex toy. This vibrator can effectively be kept away from snooping snoopers by tucking it in a drawer or conveniently hidden with other toys. It will not react badly to being stored alongside other toys and its size is relatively easy to ensconce.

The grievance of packing C batteries and making room in luggage for them plus the vibrator might take away from the magic of travelling with a toy. Not to mention the indiscretion that comes from using a vibrator with such a terminal roar.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Petals is battery operated. The cap at the base twists off and the two necessary C batteries are placed inside, plus ends down. There is a paper insert that depicts the direction in which to insert batteries and also cautions not to remove it.

The batteries fit in quite snugly with this paper kept in but trust that it does in fact absorb a lot of the noise. Without it, the batteries will rattle and make this already loud toy blow out someone's eardrum, bumping it up to an easy 5 bees. A little shaking might be required to get the batteries out. The batteries do add some weight. This can be good or bad depending on the person.

To turn on the vibrator, turn the dial base clockwise. Continue twisting in that direction to increase the vibration intensity until the end is reached. To turn it off, twist completely in the opposite direction.

It can be turn off at a moments notice if a happy session happens to be interrupted. However, Petals is so loud that a person would already be suspicious before even entering the room.

The vibrations are deep and rumbly. So much that they can actually be seen. They feel more akin to a thumping sensation. These are hard and heavy thuds. The lowest intensity is relatively high. I would compare it to Mimis level 2. The high speed will knock socks off and the shoes to boot. When placed against the top of my hand it actually bounced on my bone painfully. The intensities have a somewhat step-wise increase. There are 3 or 4 from what I can tell. The vibrations are strongest in the upper half towards the tip but diffuse throughout the toy. They are weakest at the base.

The batteries seem to be lasting long enough. I have yet to replace my batteries, then again, I'm not all that excited to use them up and I always operate at a low speed.

As a small note, the battery cap seems to heat up every time I use it after only 5 minutes of play on low.

Petals does not have an O-ring and so it is not waterproof. Unfortunately, this limits its uses to dry land.

Care and Maintenance

Given that the Pleasure Petals is not waterproof, water that enters the battery cap can damage the internal mechanism and cause your toy to break. Should water get in, remove the cap to air out the battery compartment.

Cleaning is made even more difficult with all the added texture. Bodily fluids and lube can dry up and get stuck in the many small crevices. Clear crusties are not often apparent so it can be an encumbrance to assuredly remove everything. Lots of scrubbing will be required to ensure that bacteria are not left there to breed.

Toy cleaners and wipes will suffice for temporary cleanup but a good thorough wash will be required between uses. Mild antibacterial soap and warm water will do the trick. A small toothbrush might also aid in reaching between the textures. For sanitizing, the vibrator can be wiped down with isopropyl alcohol.

With such textures and material that can not be sterilized, this toy should not be shared without first covering with a condom.

Any type of lubricant will be compatible with this material, including oil, silicone and water based lubes.

The only low-maintenance thing about this vibrator is storing it. The plastic does not pick up lint or fuzz and will happily mingle with other toys. Keep it in its original packaging, hide it in a pouch or just toss it in a drawer. The batteries should always be removed before cleaning and when storing. This will prevent those big C's from draining when not in use.

Packaging

The packaging is not discreet and rather bulky for storage. As far as gifting goes, this may not be the best option. It is very apparent what this is and looks rather cheap.

This clear flattened cylinder has two flaps on either end that fold inward to overlap and stay shut. This box has some pink and green squares and circles printed on one side with the Edenfantasys.com slogan. The other side lists some basic information about the site but nothing concerning the toy found inside. The packaging can be thrown in the trash or recycled. Furthermore, instructions are not included. This was not a big issue as the toy is fairly self-explanatory.

The vibrator is free to roll around inside but is covered by a slender plastic bag. This little bag, though unnecessary, is handy for storing the Petals in.

Experience

I did not have my hopes up high when this was included as a free gift in my order. Unfortunately, even with such low expectations, this vibrator still managed to let me down.

These heavy duty thumping vibrations do not make up for the lack of usable insertable shaft. Unlike other highly textured toys that have been received by many with open er… vaginas (or anuses), the textures on this one are not designed with pleasure in mind. The lines are far too firm and thin. Each raised section felt like a sharp razor blade.

Lubricant is absolutely necessary, especially when using this to thrust and twist. A hard material like this has the potential to get your cervix in a miserable funk if a partner were using this on you. Communication will be key.

The textures were incredibly uncomfortable for me internally. No sooner than I got it in, I wanted it out. As far as G-spotting went, the firmness and girth did not allow me to get it angled accordingly.

I have to admit that the vibrations feel sublime on the clitoris. These are actually some of the first vibrations my partner enjoys as well. We were limited for positions that allowed us the space to use it that way during sex but we did make it work. I don't need all that much power but I only use this on its lower settings. The power this thing has will surely satisfy many.

As mentioned earlier, the weight of this is favourable for anyone, such as myself, who needs a little pressure. This allows it to sit heavily on the clitoris with much less effort needed.

Sadly, the noise makes it difficult to appreciate everything else going on. During sex, it would often rattle against my rings or the batteries would simply rattle in certain angles. This was a little distracting.

To those who can take the texture and aren't as sensitive as I am, this could be a winner. The vibrations are satisfying but that's about the only satisfying thing Petals has to offer. It gets 2 starts for having such neat thumpy vibrations but that's a generous rating in my opinion. It is not waterproof, it's louder than two skeletons f***ing on a tin roof and the texture is rough enough to shred your innards. Its necessity for expensive, heavy C batteries is a bit disgruntling as well. It might work for the right person and it does work externally for my partner and I, but I won't be keeping it nearby on those terms alone.

Nice review! I need to give this a try. I have it and keep forgetting to buy batteries. LOL! Last time I put them on the list I forgot and bought AAAs! But it sounds like there's no need to rush. Thanks for the review and it is good to know it is powerful!

I still haven't tried mine, sounds like it's awesome when it comes to vroom but because it's so damn loud I think I'll just find it distracting lol. Awesome review, the pics were really helpful

Thanks Kate! It is worth trying for the vibrations you get out of it but it definitely is distracting in use.
