Smells Like Sugar, Works Like Magic

I swore I was done buying products for feminine odor since none of them ever do anything but make you smell weird, but for some reason I picked this one up. You have no idea how glad I am that I did! This product actually WORKS! It took about a week to get the best results with this, but when they kicked in they lasted all day (5am to 11pm). I hate the sickly sweet smell and how long it lingers, but I don't even care that much because it's an effective product.

Use

As the commercials say, when you have feminine odor, you don't feel like yourself. The problem is that those commercials advertise for products that don't do much of anything to help the problem. JO's Feminine Spray provides a sweet smelling mist that will keep you smelling fresh all day long. You should check the ingredient list for any potential reaction causing components, but for the most part this product uses natural ingredients.

While it is a feminine spray and certainly smells like a more female geared product, I see no reason why a male couldn't use this in his nether region as well. After all, guys have their not so fresh days, too, right?

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

JO Spray operates out of a spray bottle. It sprays a somewhat uneven mist of slightly sticky water onto the area you spray it towards. It only feels tacky for a few seconds until it starts to dry. It fully dries in about two minutes or less, depending on how heavily you apply it. When it dries, there is no sticky sensation left. I sprayed this on my hand at a fairly close distance and let it dry. My arm feels like it should feel sticky because I can feel that something has dried up on it, but when I run my hand across it I can' feel a difference between the skin it was applied to and the skin it wasn't. In use, I can't feel the dried up stickiness like I can on my arm. Once it dries, I don't notice it at all.

Here it is just sprayed:

Here it is once dried. You can see it's slightly shiny. You can tell something was sprayed, but I cannot feel it to the touch:

From what I can tell from the light mist you get from this, it's a thicker consistency than water. When sprayed on my arm, I can flip my arm over and this will not drip off. In the bottle, it looks like a thick water.

Taste / Aroma

I didn't taste this product. I apologize. It just didn't seem like something that was going to taste very good and it's not a product designed to be eaten, so I passed on that. The smell is very strong. It smells to me like cotton candy, though I've notice in other reviews people have listed other smells. To me, it's just cotton candy. No floral undertone or note or anything. Just very sweet, like sugar. I use this first as one of the first things I do when I get out the shower. I can still smell the scent when I am done getting ready about an hour and a half later. After about two and a half hours, I can no longer smell it.

If you end up liking the scent, you may like that it lingers for a while after you spray it on. Personally, I don't like overly sweet scents. The sugar and candy aroma threw me off the first few times I used this. Now I'm used to it, but the smell isn't something I particularly look forward to with this product.

Performance

While the scent lingers only hours, the effectiveness seems to last all day. I wake up at 5am and go to sleep around 11pm. The first week, this product seemed to make it until about 3pm. The next week and ever since then (maybe there is a build up time for full result?) it has lasted me until bedtime.

According to the website, this should control odor and absorb moisture. In essence, this should act like a deodorant AND antiperspirant. Again, there must be a build up time to this. I noticed the first week that it worked to control odor, but not to control moisture. The second week and since then, it has done a fabulous job at controlling both. The first week, it did control some moisture, but only until about noon.

I don't feel any residue when I shower to know if this is an easy clean off. It is a little tacky when first applied, so there may be some resistance if you try to wash it right off. You're not supposed to apply this and wash it off right away though, so it shouldn't be an issue.

The spray bottle has not had any issues with clogging at this point. It does not spray very well upside down, which is my only complaint. It would be nice if a product for a harder to reach area would do that.

You should shake this well before you use it for optimal performance. You should spray it about five or six inches from your body, which helps to minimize the uneven spray. I didn't even notice it was uneven until I sprayed it close on my arm for this review. When you get five inches away, the distance seems to allow it to evenly distribute.

Packaging

There is no packaging on this save the bottle it comes in. The front says "JO for Women" and then "Natural Personal Feminine Spray" with "personal feminine spray" written in a few different languages. It then says "Formulated Especially for a Woman's Intimate Area. Leaves You Feeling Fresh, Clean, And Confident." The back has the ingredients and the directions in multiple languages.

While the packaging clearly states what it's for, I feel like this is a little more discreet than my FDS was because not everyone knows this brand name. Someone just needs to see the big letters of FDS to know what it is. On this, they'd have to read the smaller fonts as well. Once they did that, they would know it was to eliminate feminine odor. If you're funny about that, hide it in a drawer.

You get 4 fl. oz. of product in the package. I've been using this generously once or twice a day for about two weeks or so and have made a slight dent in the amount of fluid that is in the bottle. I'm estimating this will last three or four months.

Special Features

I'm going to use this section to go over the ingredients, since there's really no special features.

Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Gel, Clary Sage Oil, Patchouli Oil, Geranium Oil, Vanilla, Tea Tree, Fragrance, Origanum Vulgare, Oregano Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgarius (Thyme) Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylancum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavendar) Flower Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal) Root Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum, Lemon Peel Extract, Purified Water.

Note that cinnamon and peppermint are ingredients in this spray. Personally, I noticed that if I applied this very shortly after shaving that there was a slight tingle/burn for a few seconds, which I attribute to these ingredients (and possibly the lemon?). If you have sensitivity to any of these ingredients, you should avoid using this spray. I would like to say how happy I am not to see Glycerin as an ingredient or parabens. So, to me at least, this does seem to be a pretty natural product. I'm not the master of ingredients, however, so I may be missing something. Who knows what's in "fragrance," after all?

Personal comments

I would recommend this product to every female, and even males, who suffer from occasional or regular odor or wetness. This has been a life saver for me and I'm so happy I decided to try yet another product to relieve this problem. Truly, I had given up hope on all products like this prior to using this. Even if you only use this during certain times of the month, it is worth every penny of the cost.

Experience

I get to take a lot of medication for some illnesses that I have. Two of these lovely medications have the combined side effects of making me sweat and produce excess oil. This has generally been a problem for me all over, but has caused an extreme amount of self awareness in my female parts. I've tried every over the counter product you can get at the super market with no results other than smelling like a bottle of hair spray. I was using boxes of panty liners and bottles of ineffective sprays and still worrying about my excessive sweat and the potential scent that went with it.

Now, I use this as a combo product. I stumbled upon Coochy After Shave Spray a while back and discovered that it seemed to help some (more than the over the counter products) at combating odor and some sweat. It wasn't perfect, however. I double up now, using that (for its original purpose and my secondary purpose) and JO. I have gone days with just the JO and it seems just as effective. I just feel safer using two and I like the Coochy for other reasons.

Within a week, I notice a huge improvement. I wasn't dripping sweat (lovely, I know) and I didn't feel like my pants had a moist feeling to them. I ditched the panty liners. I couldn't smell the cotton candy scent through the day, but there was no other odors coming through either.

Normally, I take two showers a day because of my concerns about my female area possibly not smelling the greatest. With continued use of this product, I am able to cut that down to one a day because I get home and still feel clean and fresh! This has been a miracle product for me, truly.

I don't like the smell of this. Actually, it kinda gives me a small headache. I'm totally willing to tolerate the headache for this product because it's just that awesome. I will continue to buy this from now on and use it daily. For someone who has been saddled with the burden of worrying about their smell all day, I can tell you this is no small thing. It has been life changing. It's something I don't think about now every time I walk by a client or go to the bathroom. It's not something I think about every time I shift my legs. Aside from coming off of my meds (not an option), this is a cure for my problems. So despite me not being a fan of the smell, this earns five stars from me.

Another review mentioning 'that' smell. I sense a pattern! Thanks for the great review

The tea tree may be another "tingle-causing" ingredient, though it's probably mostly the peppermint like you said. Thanks for the review!
