So this is what all the buzz is about...

The Layaspot would make an excellent addition to any collection. If something like the Hitachi wand is too much, then this will be perfect. Plenty of vibe modes and color choices to keep a girl happy for a long, long time!
Published: June 11, 2009
Pros:
Discreet, ergonomic, portable, quiet, multitude of color selections.
Cons:
Not powerful enough for some, can't be used for penetration like some vibes, loose battery top.

useful review
Obviously as a male I have little use for such a toy. My girlfriend was gracious enough to write a review for this, and to even let me use it with her. Her thoughts are in normal writing and mine are in parentheses. Now on to the review!

Aesthetics: The first qualities that stuck out to me as huge advantages were: its small size, discreet shape, and delectable color selection. There is a color set to match anything, whether it is another toy, or your bed sheets. To best accentuate my feminine side, my boyfriend bought me the magenta-pearly rose color. It was absolutely adorable, and I added it to a growing number of pink toys in my collection.

(The LAYAspot truly is nice to look at. Even if I, as a guy, can't use it, it's very 'cute.' The wide color range makes it suitable for any occasion, and just looking at the thing made my lover's heart melt.)

What's truly nice about the LAYA is that it's not intimidating. I'm relatively new to vibrators, and this was something fantastic that didn't scare me from it's shape or size.

(The LAYAspot is only 4” and subtly shaped so that storage and transportation are a breeze).

It was immensely helpful in getting me in the mood to play. Also, it's very discreet. For all intent and purposes, it could be passed off as a massager with no problem.

Feel: The LAYA feels simply amazing. The best two descriptors I can think of are 'silky' and 'smooth.' Just rubbing it with my hand makes me excited, and when I grind it against my clit, it's divine. It's a very solid toy, and hard enough to use very well, but the texture is definitely woman.

(I agree. It's nice to touch. When I use it on my girlfriend it feels smooth in my hand.)

Use: The LAYAspot is designed to perfectly fit into the palm of your hand for manual direction, or to hug your pubic bone for a hands-free romp. It's easy to manipulate and very ergonomic. I could buzz myself for hours without getting a hand cramp!

Another desirable aspect of the LAYAspot is its range of speeds and vibration settings. The eight speeds and three vibration presets are easily manipulated by the easy to locate + and – buttons on the top of the device. Best of all, although the LAYAspot has a wide range of speeds, even including some particularly strong ones, it is reasonably quiet. I like to use it while laying on my stomach and that muffles the sound even further.

One drawback is that if you are really getting into it and accidentally bump the battery slot, it can pop off. There's no secure latch, just a short twist, so it's easy to knock off.

(We're apparently the only ones who have had this happen. Might just be that ours is a little looser than some).

Guys: (For use with couples, the toy works very well. Because it fits so well in the hand, it's easy to use during intercourse instead of just rubbing the clit with your fingers. Doggy-style friendly!)

Cleaning: The Layaspot is simple to clean. It should be noted that it is splashproof, and NOT waterproof. There is no O-ring to keep out water. So when cleaning, do not submerge! With that said it's perfectly safe to take a warm, wet, washcloth and rub it down. Then use any anti-bacterial toy cleaner to keep it squeaky clean.

Other: (The Laya isn't jut a sex toy. After a long day at work, or after lifting weights, the Laya feels great as a massager! When I'm rubbed down with massage oils, and the Laya is on its highest vibe, I can feel the tension seep out of my muscles. Very relaxing!)

(As a final note, I was asked to address the strength of the vibe issue. Because it's battery powered, you won't get the ultra-powerful vibrations like other toys. However, it is surprisingly powerful. It has modes to fit any girl, from very sensitive, to just above the 'medium-sensitivity' line.)

Thanks for the review, both of you! How easy was this to clean, and what lubes (if any) did you use with it?

Lily: I addressed cleaning in the review. As for lubes, we use whichever water-based warming lube we have at the time. The warming sensation adds another delicious element to play.

Naughty Student: That is one of the drawbacks. If you're used to something with a lot more oompf, then the Laya just won't be able to cut it.

Thanks for the feedback, both!

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
