Use

The Jimmyjane Form 3 is a small, strong external vibrator whose use is only limited by your imagination. It's designed for clitoral stimulation, but so long as you own a body part that enjoys vibration, pulsation, or even simple stroking, you'll find a use for the Form 3.

If your approach to sex toys is to crank them up to maximum, hold them against your fun bits, and wait for nirvana, the Form 3 will more or less work for that, as it's pretty strong, but it'll be a waste. Where the Form 3 shines is in the hands of someone willing to put the time into exploring its seemingly limitless possibilities, both for solo play and with a partner.

Material / Texture

The Form 3 is made of an exceptional silicone that feels luxurious against the skin and is just the right texture to capture less airborne cat hair than the average silicone. An ideal material for sex toys, silicone is odorless, non-porous and free of dangerous chemicals.

Like a human tongue, the business end of the Form 3 is flexible, with surprising strength. Jimmyjane's website makes a point of saying that there's no need to take it easy on the material, as it's meant to withstand the firm pressure of being bent by the finger, and it cannot be punctured with a fingernail. The company does wisely warn against the dangers of knives, scissors, and dogs. It's strong, not indestructible.

Design / Shape / Size

The Form 3 is sized very nicely to fit in the palm of the hand, with the body of it curving nicely to fit in the upper portion of the palm to allow either an index finger or middle finger to bend the touchpad portion of the toy, if you're using it according to the creator's suggested directions. I've read many other reviews that found the intended touchpad function to be awkward or difficult to use, but the secret seems to be in the way you hold the body of the toy.

I suggest experimenting with it before you even put it on the charger for the first time. Leave the vibrations off, and test the different ways in which you can hold the toy in your hand and flex the end of it with your fingers. Try the index finger, the middle finger, two fingers together, etc. I found that by positioning my fingers much higher on the toy than is shown in the official demonstration video, I could manipulate it quite easily. However, when I rested the toy in the center of my palm, my fingers proved too short to get enough leverage. With a little play, you'll likely find that the toy is a good size and shape for a variety of uses, but that each use requires a different grip on the toy.

The Form 3 is a good size to slip in between bodies during intercourse, and it also fits -- although just barely -- in the bullet pockets on a Liberator shape.

For travel, the Form 3 has a locking function to avoid accidental activation, it's smaller than TSA's maximum size for a tool inside of carry on luggage, and it looks like a computer mouse, so it's discreet enough. For land based travel, it fits in a purse or pocket without difficulty, just try not to sit on it.

As far as discretion at home, this toy is supposed to live on its charger, and it lights up while charging, which could be an issue for some. It does look like a computer accessory, so you could fool some folks just by keeping it next to your PS3, but that of course will have the opposite effect on other guests. You might have to get creative to hide the toy from view without knocking it off the charger. Even if nosy humans aren't a concern, you do need to charge this in a location that's safe from pets, as it would make a very expensive chew toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The controls on the Form 3 are easy to use, and you'll likely figure them out without reading the directions. It has two escalating patterns, a lovely pulsation pattern, and of course steady vibration, all in a wide variety of intensities ranging from a teasing tickle to a serious wallop that I personally found way too strong. If you turn it off while using a pattern, it will return to that pattern when you turn it back on, which is thoughtful of it. For me, I found that saved on frustration when I tried to see how low I could make the vibrations, and kept turning it off. Since most people don't try to turn vibrators down as low as they go while playing, that last might apply only to me, but I appreciated it.

While the controls are super simple, the actual implementation of the toy into play is deceptively complex. It simply offers too many ways in which it can work, which means that to find the best one for you will require patience. If you use this toy once, find a method that's just okay, and then give up on it, you'll really be missing out -- and also wasting money. Take the time to really test it out. Some reviewers have described finding exciting new ways to play with the Form 3 months after first receiving it.

If you're an inherently impatient person who only wants a toy for quick orgasms, leave the Form 3 alone and just buy a really strong bullet or a wand vibrator, because while you can use the body of the Form 3 as a really strong bullet for a quickie, you won't love spending for a luxury toy if you're only interested in one of its lessor features.

The original intended purpose of the Form 3 was to serve as a unique enhancement to using one's own fingers, and if you're willing to experiment until you can find the right way to hold it, the toy really does work quite well for that. The length of your fingers, and the relative strength of your index finger versus your middle finger, will dictate how you need to hold the toy. If it feels like it requires too much pressure to flex, then the tip of your finger isn't high enough on the toy. I found that the very tip of my finger needed to rest on the very tip of the toy. You can also experiment with which side of the toy to hold upright. It flexes both ways, but in a different way.

While the intended purpose works better than I expected before playing with the toy, that's not the purpose that appealed to me. My first glimpse at a Form 3 had my interest immediately. Then the video demonstration made me extremely skeptical. Then a review hooked me back with the concept of a silicone vibrating tongue.

A silicone vibrating tongue is one of the greatest inventions in the history of civilization. Well, maybe not, but certainly it's a huge leap forward for sex toys. With plenty of lube, the Form 3 feels amazing when dragged over sensitive areas, flexing as pressure is applied. It can slide sideways against the clitoris with sort of a lifting sensation, or it can be curved around it from the top for a unique tug. The firmness or gentleness of the motions are entirely controlled by the user.

I couldn't keep my hands off this thing, and have already discovered more than one awesome sensation, even once with the vibrations turned off entirely. I know it would be fantastic to use on a lover, as it would be an aid to the fingers, and therefore a more hands on kind of toy than some others.

The vibrations themselves aren't at all sharp, and can get quite strong. I preferred the lower settings, but it should impress those seeking power as well. I found the higher settings comparable to my Vibratex Mystic Wand, a toy so strong I can only use it on my shoulders. The lower ranges went from a deceptively deep whisper to a pitch that felt fairly similar to the Little Chroma. The pulsation pattern seemed to have a deeper pitch than the escalation, although the very nature of escalation could be the explanation there.

As far as the sound, this definitely can't be heard through a closed door, and would require only low music to drown it out within the room. Rather than sounding like a vibrator, it sounds like a demented squeaking robot, but my experience has taught me that annoying noises from sex toys -- at least sex toys that do awesome jobs -- stop being annoying after a few uses, so I'm not particularly bothered by it.

Care and Maintenance

Caring for the Form 3 is easy. For ordinary cleaning, it can be submerged in hot, soapy water, or sprayed with toy cleaner and wiped down. For a quick pre-use delinting, it can be run under the faucet or cleaned with a toy wipe. For sterilization, it can be rinsed in a bleach solution. Never boil a toy with a motor, or otherwise expose it to extreme heat.

The Form 3 is supposed to live on its charger, as it cannot be overcharged and the lithium battery likes to feel full. Make sure it's out of the reach of pets, lest it get eaten. To hide it from company, it'll fit in almost any clean, dry location, preferably in a separator bag of some kind, as jelly or silicone composite toys will get jealous and try to melt it.

Never use silicone lube with silicone toys, as the chemicals in the lube will try to lure the silicone from your toy away to bond with the lube-silicone, creating a sticky mess. The Form 3 works great with any water based lube, especially slick, light lubes like Fun Factory Toyfluid or JO H2O.

Packaging

In my opinion, the packaging for the Form 3 is at least twice as large as is necessary. It's a small toy, packaged only with a charging stand and cord, and they would have fit easily in a much smaller box. I suspect the box size is dictated by a combination of marketing -- it would stand out in a store setting -- and the large size of the instruction manual. Everything is recyclable, however, so all is not lost.

The package was tasteful, but not discreet, as the toy was pictured on it. The presentation is nice enough for gift giving in an intimate setting, but it's not packaged like jewelry like the Jimmyjane Little Something line, and it's not discreet enough for Christmas morning at Grandma Mildred's. Give it in private, or possibly in an adult setting such as a bachelorette party, and it's perfectly appropriate for any gift giving situation in which a vibrator is appropriate.
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

Honestly, my expectations for this toy were rather modest, and they were blown out of the water almost immediately. The Form 3 is absolutely one of the best toys I own, and my only regret is not buying it sooner. If I have to break out the power tools to design a hidden charging station for my nightstand, it'll be worth the trouble. I probably should have done so for the obnoxious flashing Lelos long ago.

On the subject of charging, virtually every reviewer disliked the way the Form line toys sit in their chargers, but mine isn't even on a level surface that the moment, and it's charging quite happily. So either everyone else is hopelessly picky and incapable of setting a toy on a charger properly, or the whole thing works better on a warped, slanty bookshelf. If you have trouble charging yours, try placing the charger on a slope.
