The Straight Up is a traditional vibrator from Evolved Novelties that has one primary purpose, clitoral stimulation and vaginal penetration. The simple design of this toy makes it perfect for a beginner to sex toys or for someone just looking to add a good quality vibe to their collection. Due to the fact that the Straight Up has no flared base I am inclined to advise against anal use, however, with caution and care it could be used in such a way due to its long length making it unlikely to be completely withdrawn into the anus. One could also use the toy for stimulating the breast and nipples if so desired because the power of the vibrations can be controlled and toned down to make doing so very sensual. Also, use with a partner is entirely possible and limited only to one's imagination. Additionally, the Straight Up is waterproof and can be enjoyed in a shower or somewhere water might be a problem for other vibrators.

The Straight Up is composed of Phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, non-porous Silicone. When the toy arrived I noticed only a slight "new toy" smell when removing it from the hard plastic case but it was not unpleasant and went away immediately upon washing it (you wash your toys before using them, right?). This Silicone is firm but does have some give to it and can be bent slightly in any direction. These properties allow it to be inserted easily and accommodates vigorous thrusting without being uncomfortable or running the risk of jabbing oneself. It has a ribbed texture consisting of variety of raised contours across its body with some of the contours claiming small rounded bumps for added stimulation. The base where the batteries are stored and where the operating dial is located is made of hard plastic.

Straight Up comes in at about eight inches in overall length with five of those capable of insertion and the remaining three for the battery compartment and control dial. It has a diameter of 1 3/4 inches making it quite filling for a standard vibrator. My girlfriend noted that the Straight Up gently tapers from thinner at its head to the the full diameter in the middle of the body making it easy to insert and placing the widest portion of the toy at the base of the vagina which enables it to give such a filling sensation and placing the ribbed textures where the majority of nerve endings in the vagina reside.

As I've mentioned previously, the control dial resides at the bottom of the toy within the battery compartment cover. The hole in the cover allows the dial to be exposed on two sides, making it easier to operate if the toy gets rotated in your hand during use. In its farthest upward position (the direction toward the toy) the Straight Up is off and simply rotating it down (away from the toy) turns it on in the lowest vibration setting. As you turn the dial the vibrations steadily get stronger until it reaches its farthest downward position and stops, letting you know it is on maximum power. The vibrations are strong throughout the toy but I did noticed they they seemed strongest near the base where I am assuming the motor resides. Also, the toy is marketed as waterproof which I can attest to as I surprised my girlfriend with it in the shower, however, I am unsure if it is completely submersible.

Care and maintenance for the Straight Up is extremely simple. After use simply wash with warm water and a mild soap or specialized toy cleaner according to its directions and dry with a lint free cloth. Do not wash it when the battery compartment is open and be careful to not open the battery compartment while the toy is still wet as water may get in and corrode your batteries or cause a malfunction. To effectively sanitize the Straight Up for sharing with another person or if switching the toy from use in the anus to the vagina wash the toy as normal then soak it in a 10% bleach solution for about ten minutes, leaving the battery compartment unsubmerged to be on the safe side. Also, don't try to boil or pressure cook this toy due to the electronic components. Furthermore, while soaking in a 10% bleach solution SHOULD eliminate any microbes or other unwanted organisms it cannot be completely guaranteed, so if in doubt use a condom over the toy.

My girlfriend loved how easy it was to operate the Straight Up and was quite enamored with how sensitive the control dial was, allowing her to pinpoint exactly how much power she wanted. Her only gripes were that the Straight Up did not get quite as strong as she would have liked in its maximum setting and wished for just a little more power and that she would have loved the capability for patterns, but this would have more than likely eliminated the easy to use dial.
