Super Cute...but Doesn’t Deliver.

The Bishop is a really cute chess piece that’s actually a vibrator! It’s very discreet and can be used externally and internally. It’s waterproof, safe to use, and includes a 1-year warranty. However, it lacked in what matters to me most: performance. If you like smaller weaker vibes, this could work well for you. This vibrator is very similar in power to the Diamond Spot Vibrator. If you are like me and need more power, I wouldn’t get this vibe.

Use

Checkmates the Bishop is from Evolved Novelties’ chess line. Unfortunately, I don’t play chess so I couldn’t think of a witty title. However, I still think it’s a really cute vibrator! I just wish it had more power! For me, it’s great as a massager toy on erogenous zones. However, down there it wasn’t that effective. If you like weaker vibes, this could be a great choice for you. If you’re like me and need lots of power, look elsewhere.

Please don’t use this anally! There isn’t a flared base so this could easily get lost!

This vibrator is great for any user regardless of experience, but especially beginners. If you are looking for a quiet discreet vibe, the Bishop could be a great fit for you! It's waterproof so you can have some fun in the tub. You can insert him or use him externally on your clitoris. The Bishop is very versatile for a smaller vibrator.

Material / Texture

The Bishop is made out of plastic. It had no smell when I took it out of the package. The plastic is very silky and smooth to me with no texture. It is very hard and has no flexibility or give to it. Plastic rates an 8 out of 10 on Eden Fantasy’s safety scale. It is hypoallergenic, phthalates, and latex free. If you are going to share the Bishop, be sure to use a condom or dental dam. It is mostly non-porous, but it can still harbor bacteria. It is not as safe as silicone.

The Bishop is very smooth when applied to the skin with no drag. Thankfully, it doesn’t attract any hair and lint. There is one seam I could find on the side of the toy. I can hardly see it and it wasn’t noticeable during use.

Design / Shape / Size

The Bishop is designed after a chess piece. They are very similar in design. The top of the Bishop looks like a ball or lollipop. It’s the biggest part of the Bishop. After the top it narrows to a neck and then bulges out to a ridge. It narrows again to a smaller ridge and the white plastic band. The plastic band is where the toy opens for the battery compartment. When I place it in my hand, it reminds me of a dumbbell!

The Bishop is 5 ½” in length. You can insert it up to the white band; this is about 3 ¾”. Its circumference is 4” with a diameter of 1 ¼”. I like the unique design because it isn’t just plain straight. There are some ridges, which add some fun when you insert it. It’s only 2.8 ounces so it’s really light during use!

This vibrator is definitely small. If you like bigger toys, I wouldn’t try this one. Its small size makes it suitable for any user, especially beginners.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations of the Bishop are found throughout the vibrator but are the strongest near the top. To open the battery compartment, you simply twist it open at the top of the white band. It is operated by one AAA battery. It doesn’t tell you which way to put the battery in, however my educated guess worked. I really like that it only takes one battery to operate. I have used it a couple hours and the battery hasn’t died yet!

To operate the Bishop, simply turn the bottom pink dial. I like having a turn dial; it definitely makes it very easy to operate. It can be harder to turn the dial if you have lube on your hands. Also, I found that during use when I was holding the Bishop from the bottom, it would turn the dial very easily. I have found it easier to hold it in the middle if you are using it externally.

As the package claims, the Bishop is technically multispeed. I did find three separate speeds in this vibrator. Now, they are very hard to discern. In order to feel each separate setting, you have to turn the dial VERY slowly. I prefer vibes at their strongest speed, so I usually use the Bishop at the strongest it can go. As I suspected, the Bishop is a fairly weak toy. Its vibrations are very buzzy. I need LOTS of power to orgasm so this wasn’t successful for me on my clitoris or vaginally. However, I really liked using it as a general massager all over my body. I have found that its power is very similar to the Diamond spot vibrator. They both have moderate vibrations that most people will like, but I prefer more power! Plus, they are both really cute vibes that I wish I loved. Here's a picture of the Diamond Spot Vibrator, the Bishop, and the Crystal High Intensity Bullet.

Since this vibrator is generally moderate in power, it’s not very loud. The loudest setting is similar to a cell phone vibrating. I didn’t play with it in the shower, but no water got in the battery compartment when I washed it.

Care and Maintenance

Since the Bishop is waterproof, I wash mine in warm water and soap. You could also use a wipe or toy cleaner if you wish. Since it’s so smooth, no fluid get traps anywhere making cleaning a breeze.

The Bishop is plastic so you can use a water based or silicone lubricant. I store my Bishop in the plastic container it came in.

Packaging

Checkmates the Bishop was packaged in a simple see through plastic case. It is not discreet, however it is a great place to store your chess piece in. It is pretty sturdy. The front lists the name and company.

The back lists some of its features and how to clean it. Evolved Novelties also offers a 1-year warranty. This is great in case your Bishop ever dies on you. There aren’t any instructions on how to use this vibrator, but it’s not too hard to figure out.

Personal comments

Even though I didn’t really enjoy the Bishop anywhere near my vagina, it’s still really fun to use on other erogenous zones. I’ll admit that its cuteness has won me over! It’s probably my favorite weak vibe, which is saying a lot from a self-proclaimed power queen!

Since this toy is fairly week and small, I’m going to give it three stars out of five. It has many great qualities that lots of people will like. It’s waterproof, is easy to use, and just plain cute! Even though I won’t be putting it near my vagina anytime soon, I still like using it as a little massager all over my body.

Experience

I have found that best way to use this toy on your clitoris is to put it on the highest setting. I rubbed it up and down for a while, but it wasn't enough for me. I went to a more powerful toy.

Inserting it was fun because of its ridges. It was a little small for me, but could work for you if you like small vibes. It definitely feels like a popping sensation when you insert it and take it back out. It was a little too hard to insert and thrust with this vibrator. You have to hold it from the bottom which keeps turning the speed dial. It was a little frustrating. This vibe works better externally.
Follow-up commentary
This is a really cute vibrator but it just isn't powerful enough for me. It's super small and somewhat discreet. I just haven't used it at all since I wrote this review.
