Sweetheart - traditional vibrator by Shaki Toys - review by pootpootpoot

Shaki Toys's Sweetheart is a non-realistic traditional vibrator. It is intended for vaginal use, and because it lacks a flared base it is not appropriate for anal play. The tip is a bit wide/round for pinpoint stimulation, but it could still be used externally on the nipples or clitoris. Sweetheart is not waterproof and should not be used in a tub or pool.

This vibrator has a very cute look and would be a nice gift at a bachelorette party. It would make a nice non-threatening first toy and is appropriate for users of all experience levels, though advanced users may be turned off by the lack of functions and moderate vibrations.

Sweetheart is made of plastic, which rates an 8 on the EdenFantasys Material Safety Scale. The whole toy is completely rigid, but is smooth to the touch (except for the heart-shaped nubs, of course). Plastic is porous, so it cannot be fully sanitized and is not suitable for sharing between partners without a condom. This toy is waterproof, but does not hold temperature very well. When my Sweetheart arrived, it had neither a taste nor an odor.



The texture on this toy is made up of hearts of varying sizes. As far as I can tell, there is not really a pattern; other than the fact that the hearts are arranged in vertical columns, they aren't organized by size, and don't seem to be placed to provide G-spot stimulation.

I found this texture to be minimal. This would be a good toy for someone who wants to try out texture or is new to toys, but texture-lovers will likely be disappointed by the lack of definition, as the hearts are very shallow.

This vibrator's shape is pretty standard, but there are a few cute changes that add to its look.



My favorite such addition is the base. The button is shaped like a heart, and the base itself is shaped like a hexagon. It looks very sweet and feminine. The lines of hearts that provide the toy's texture are a bit disorganized, but also add feminine appeal. This vibrator is not discreet, and as it has no locking function it isn't appropriate for travel unless you remove the batteries.



At just under 6" in length and 4" in circumference, this toy is very moderate in terms of both length and girth. I found that it was a little too short for me to comfortably thrust with it, but as I have a long torso this might not be the case for everyone.

Sweetheart has only three settings: high, medium, and low. Unfortunately there is no "instant off" function, so to turn off the toy you have to cycle through the settings. There are no patterns, only constant vibration, so there may not be enough variety for some. It runs on three triple-A batteries, which it does not come with, so make sure to pick up a pack at checkout.

This vibrator is waterproof, so you can use it in a tub or pool with no worries. I found that it heated up slightly when on its highest setting and submerged, but not to an uncomfortable degree. On the two higher settings, this toy is squarely in the "4 bee" range, but the lower setting is only a 3. While the lower setting is fine for dorm use, I would recommend a quieter toy if you're looking for stronger vibrations.

To clean this toy, simply wash it with soap and hot water or use a toy-cleaning wipe or solution. Remember that as plastic is porous, you cannot fully sanitize it. Plastic is compatible with all lubricants, so feel free to use either water- or silicone-based lubes. Because this toy is of average size and is made from an agreeable material, storage is very easy. You can stash it alone or with other toys because it isn't incompatible with any other material.

I found Sweetheart's packaging to be pretty entertaining. The front of the box features a topless woman wearing baggy hot pink 80s style pants looking sultrily into the camera. At the bottom, there's a fun phrase that I think we all can vouch for.



The top displays the product's given name - The Hot Pink Sweetheart - and states its purpose.



The back has some basic instructions, as well as another cute phrase.




Due to the topless lady and clear front, this box is not discreet. It could be suitable for packaging, but I chose to throw mine away. I don't consider it nice enough for a gift, but it sure made me chuckle.

I liked this toy the few times I used it, but unfortunately my partner broke it when he tried to replace the batteries about a week ago. when he twisted off the base, the battery compartment came with it, and revealed the hollow interior of the toy. We can't separate the battery compartment from the base, so it's stuck with dead batteries forever now :( it still works fine for penetration, but the vibrations were what I liked best about Sweetheart so it doesn't get used much anymore. I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem, but please be careful!
