The Average Egg

While this ice egg is a unique concept, the design has not been perfected yet. It takes too long to freeze in comparison to the time that it takes to melt. The ice doesn't always fit snugly on the base. Occasionally, it scares the crap out of me when the last little bit of ice seemingly explodes due to the vibrations. I don't regret trying it, but it doesn't top my list of favorite toys either.

Use

This ice egg's main function is as a clitoral vibrator. However, it can be used basically anywhere across the body for a tease. If you do use it for teasing, you can not only draw the ice across the body causing shivers, but you can then blow on the wet parts of your partner to intensify things. The bullet can also be taken out for solo use. Finally, it's a fun gift for those who are new to temperature play.

On the other side of things, the egg is not meant to be inserted. It may not be a preferred toy when it comes to single males. I've actually read that men prefer heat, and women prefer cold. Also, it melts rather quickly, so don't expect to use it for a long foreplay session (more specifics on melting times under the performance section). Finally, it takes quite awhile to freeze, so this is important to keep in mind (once again, see performance section for more details).

Material / Texture

The material used for the ice egg is silicone. The only thing that isn't silicone is the bullet. Silicone can be sterilized, and it is a 10/10 on the safety scale. It also tends to deal with temperature changes well, which is perhaps why this material was chosen. The ice holder is much more flexible and softer than the grip. However, the grip does still have some flexibility to fit up against the clitoris. This egg is odorless. Also, the swirls on the grip allow the user to hold onto it more firmly, and it doesn't get slippery.

*One important thing to note: On the product page, the reviewer states that the ice holder is plastic. There is originally a plastic cap (for protection during shipping). However, my holder is definitely silicone.

Design / Shape / Size

I understand the idea of the vibrating egg, and I also understand that it is difficult for vibrations to travel through ice. This is an issue with this design if you're looking for anything except for mild vibrations. Putting the whole thing together the first time was a little more complicated than I expected. Luckily, instructions are included, and there are also directions (with pictures) on the back of the box. I did have trouble with the freezing part. The first time around, I didn't put the two pieces together firmly enough, and the ice egg was not plush against the base. The second time, I pushed them together too firmly, and the water squirted out all over me. After that, I seem to have the art down relatively well. I do, however, disagree with the featured review on a couple of points. The holder is not slippery, and I have no trouble maneuvering this toy solo.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The obvious function is the vibrating function. It also seems pretty obvious that this is waterproof based on the O-ring on the bullet. However, I'm not sure that this is a shower or bath-play kind of toy, as the ice would melt a lot faster. Then again, a warm shower and a cold egg could be exciting. There is a push button and multiple vibration options. I did have to cycle through the vibration patterns to turn the bullet off, which I'm not fond of. Finally, three watch batteries are included. I did have to take out a slip of paper before the bullet would work.

*When freezing the ice egg, I noticed that at 1.5 hrs, I still saw unfrozen water bubbles within it. So, expect to put the ice egg in a few hours before (the back of the box says it can take up to 4 hours).
*While in constant contact with the skin, the ice egg took an average of 8 minutes to melt. The very last layer of ice kind of exploded instead of melting more than once.

Care and Maintenance

Without the bullet, the grip and holder can be sanitized by boiling or a bleach solution. They can also be placed on the top rack of a dishwasher. Honestly, it shouldn't even really get dirty. The ice is what touches your fun parts...not the rest of it. Since the ice egg is made of silicone, do not store it directly next to other pure silicone items. I just store mine in a Ziploc bag with the instruction manual since the box is somewhat large. Also, you will not need lubricant with this item, and as it is made of ice, the compatible water-based lube would be kind of pointless anyway.

Packaging

The packaging allows for the ice egg to be seen through a window. The packaging is very classy with just splashes of blue water on a white box. "Vibrating ice massager" is displayed across the front, but I'm not convinced that anyone would know that this was a clitoral vibrator off of those words and looking at the item alone. I'd actually say sports players might be interested in this for sore muscles. Once again, the back has instructions in 3 languages with pictures. There is also an instruction manual included, which gives directions in 6 languages (English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, and Russian). The packaging is nice enough that I'd consider it gift-worthy as well.

Personal comments

I noticed in the instructions manual that tips and tricks are offered. These tips and tricks include:
-Boiling water for a more transparent ice egg.
-Adding Touche ice flavour packages (pineapple, orange, apple, lemon, or strawberry). EF does not seem to offer these at this time, but I'd imagine you can use flavored water or something of the sort.
-Melting chocolate and then putting it in the fridge to set up in the egg.

Oh, and if, by chance, I was wrong about you wanting to use lubricant with this item, I just recently found that freezable lubricants are sold on the original website (which is included in the instruction manual), and they can be used with this. They come in several flavors, but I suppose if the egg is being used in conjunction with oral play, this might be the perfect idea.
Follow-up commentary
The touche ice big is still not a commonly used toy for me, but it does have a little shock value for any new partners I might encounter. It'll stay in my collection just because it's so different from anything else that I own.

Thanks for the info! I was left a bit confused as to how this toy works, though, and wasn't sure which parts of the toy you were referring to when you mentioned things like "the holder" and "the grip".
