MiMi - vibrator by Je Joue - review by Coralbell

MiMi is primarily a clit vibrator, but it can be used on any external areas and the smooth, flat shape works well for body massage. I've only used it solo so far, but I think MiMi would be a great vibrator to use with a partner thanks to it's small size. This toy is completely waterproof, so feel free to use it in the shower or tub.

MiMi's surface is covered with a layer of smooth, matte silicone. It feels very silky when slid across the skin, and has a small amount of drag. There is hard material below the surface, so this toy has no give or flexibility. I enjoy hard toys because they make it easier to get the pressure I need. The buttons/charging contacts are metal, and there is a small area of plastic surrounding them.

MiMi's shape reminds me of a flat stone. It's oval, 2 inches wide, just over 3 inches long, and about 1 inch high at the thicker end. It fits nicely into the palm of my hand, but I wish it was a little narrower to fit between my labia better. I can use the wide surface to stimulate most of my vulva, or use just the tip or sides to target specific spots.

This toy has a simple, almost minimalist design. 2 small metal circles function as both the controls and the charging contacts, the charging light is hidden beneath the silicone, and there is a small imprint of Je Joue's logo on the top. It is quite discreet and I don't think it would attract much attention if you left it laying around, especially the black version.

My MiMi is the rose colour, which I was expecting to be a bright pink. It's actually a darker fuschia with cool undertones and I think it's very pretty. The end of the charger matches the colour of the toy, which not only looks nice, but also makes it very easy to grab the right charger out of my toybox.

Controls:
There are 2 buttons, marked with a + and - that control the vibrations. Holding the + for 2 seconds will turn the toy on to it's lowest, constant setting. The + button cycles through the 5 speeds and 5 patterns. You can use the minus button to go back to the previous setting, and holding it for 2 seconds will turn the vibrations off at any time. I found the controls easy to use. They take a bit of force to press, but not enough that it was difficult for me. The buttons don't lock, but are unlikely to be accidentally bumped. I would carry this in my purse and not worry about it turning on by accident.

Vibrations:
The vibrations are quite strong; stronger than most of the clit vibrators I own and similar to my Form 2. I would classify them as medium-rumbly. They're not as low-pitched as my Siri or Spring, but they're less buzzy than my Layaspot or Gigi.

The motor is located in the tip, and the vibrations feel much stronger there than on the opposite end of the toy. The wider end of the toy seems to be mostly hollow, and since it doesn't conduct vibrations very well it is easier to hold onto.

I'm someone who needs pressure, and I found that applying a lot of pressure caused the vibrations to slightly weaken. They were still strong enough for me so it wasn't an issue, but it could be for someone else.

The vibration patterns are slow pulsing, fast pulsing, roller coaster (gradually increasing then decreasing), escalating, and faster escalating.


Volume:
I gave MiMi 2 bees, but I would have given it 2.5 if I could. It's a fair bit louder than my phone's vibrations, but can't be heard through a closed door. I live with my family and there are some toys I avoid using when other people are around, but this isn't one of them.

Charging:
My MiMi arrived with a small amount of charge, so I recommend charging before the first use to make sure it won't die in the middle of the fun like mine did. The charging cord connects magnetically to the buttons on the MiMi. The magnetic connection is fairly strong, and I found the charger easier to position properly and keep connected than Fun Factory's Click N Charge system. A red light under the silicone flashes while the toy is charging, and glows when it is fully charged. It took an hour and a half to charge, and gave me an hour and 15 minutes of use on the highest setting.

MiMi should not be used with silicone lubricants because they could damage the silicone on the toy. It can be easily washed with soap and water, and since it's waterproof you don't have to worry about water getting inside while you clean it. This toy can't be boiled since it would damage the motor, but it can be sterilized with a 10% bleach solution.

Je Joue's packaging would be great for gifting. It could be used for storage, but is not ideal for it. The outer box is thin and purple with the words Je Joue MiMi on top, and a picture of the toy and a small description on the bottom. Inside is an attractive black box made from heavy cardboard. It has a flip top that ties shut with a satin ribbon. The MiMi lays inside on a plastic tray that has an indentation to keep it in place. There is a ribbon attached to the tray to help remove it from the box. Underneath are the instruction booklet and charger, surrounded by a white insert that is made of the same material as an egg carton. If you remove the ugly insert and want to use the box for storage, there is nothing to hold the plastic tray up. If you want to store the charger underneath with MiMi on top, the tray will just be balancing on top of the charger. The box is pretty bulky for storing such a small toy, so I just put MiMi in my toybox, and put MiMi's box on top of my dresser to store other things. There is no storage pouch included.
