Velvet touch vibrator sex toy review
If you're looking for a no-nonsense simple vibrator, this little vibe is the ticket. It packs a punch and the soft suede-like finish on the shaft is cozy compared to most traditional plastic vibrators. The fun colors and ease of operation makes this the perfect fit!Published: March 31, 2008
Pros:
Soft, sweet, simple
Cons:
Does not perform well in water.
Good Vibrations
The Doc Johnson Velvet Touch Vibrator is an all-time "fall-back favorite" between my legs. It may be old fashioned (minus fancy add-ons or attachments) but it gets the job done and it does it well. The Velvet Touch massager is low key, simple to operate and won't send your partner shrieking from embarrassment. The Velvet Touch is considered a "Traditional Vibrator". In everyday language it's a simple straight vibrator without the added bells and whistles. The Doc Velvet gets its name from the smooth velvet-like texture on the massager itself. Most traditional vibrators are plastic and slick, the Velvet has a soft gentle texture which I find more intimate.
The Doc Johnson Velvet Touch is easily assembled, simply unscrew the base and insert 2 AA batteries. To control the intensity of the vibrations there's a rotating dial on the bottom that enables you to choose from multiple settings. The intensity ranges from a mild hum to a loud (tattoo gun-like) buzzing. This vibrator is a bit noisy on the highest setting but most traditional vibrators are. Though the manufacturer says that this vibe is waterproof, it is my personal opinion that this particular model is not. This is my second vibe due to water damage occuring in the first one I had.
The Doc Velvet is wonderful if you have skin sensitivities or allergies. The Velvet is also phthalate free, which means it’s free from the harsh chemicals ordinarily used in manufacturing plastics. The length of the massager is 7 inches, the manufacturer recommended insertable length is 6 inches (for control purposes), the circumference is 3 inches and the diameter is 1 inch. It has just enough girth to keep my kegel routine in check.
Final Thoughts
Does the Doc Johnson Velvet Touch measure up to its name & reputation? Ohhhhhh YES - I wouldn't have given it the time of day if it didn't. Though it’s a little buzzy (noisewise) and fails the waterproof test, it’s still one of the best and it's fun to play with! The Doc Velvet should be in your "arsenal" if you're searching for favorites and it's an equally great first purchase for experimental beginners.
Until you're confident and comfortable in your own skin, you'll never appreciate the true depth and breadth of sex. Are vibrators for everyone? Of course not! It's a personal and intimate decision. Remember, sexual experiences are what you make of them. Be safe, be discerning, and have some fun while you're at it!
...Go ahead, take one to bed. ;)

Still going strong, and I still think this is a wonderful toy for beginners! It's not to big or noisy and it's very unintimidating. I'm still happy to have this affordable option in my collection.

Getting rid of stains on my Velvet Touch vibe?
-
LinLinHi, I accidentally used my Velvet touch vibrator during my period (like I started going and I didn't notice that I was already spotting). Since then it has some mild yellowing (I got it in lavander) and I don't know how to get rid of the stains! It does not seem to have an odor or anything, but does anyone have any tips on how I can get rid of the stains? I love this toy and its my first and only one I own, but I'm so annoyed with the staining!
Any help would be appreciated! -
You could try cleaning it with a bleach solution, but honestly it might just be stained. I'd say that if it doesn't smell and you've cleaned it real well, that might just be it. It won't affect the usability at all though, which is good. :)

Yep, I was going to suggest the same. Best wishes!

Velvet touch vibrator – traditional vibrator
-
cherrypopedI've heard this one is no good. it stops working fast. Should i buy it? -
Quote: I've heard this one is no good. it stops working fast. Should i buy it?Cherry, In what ways does it stop working fast? Do you mean that the battery dies quickly? Or that the machine itself is faulty? I've had this toy for over four years, only had to change the battery once, and it has remained clean, odorless, retained its color, vibrations are as strong as when I first purchased/used it, and it never malfunctioned on it. Although it's a very inexpensive toy, it has outlasted all others in pleasure and in worth! Go for it!

I had mine for at least a year before it stopped working. When it stopped working, there was rust under the twisting part of the cap, so I likely caused it to stop working by not being careful when washing it. This was a FABULOUS toy when I had it, and I would buy another if I needed another basic vibe. For $13, you can't really go wrong. Don't abuse it (drop it, get the cap or insides wet) and it should last quite a while.

Thank you for viewing Velvet touch vibrator – sex toy review page!

I love the velvety feel. Way better than just plastic.
i wrote a review on this vibe a few weeks back, but i have been afraid to test it's waterproofing, and you seem to be the only one who feels it isn't waterproof, did you test it or did you just go off of the site's description? I would love to test the waterproofing and finish my follow-up review, but im afraid of taking a chance and ruining it...
thanks a lot :)
Hi Curlyque!
I did not test the waterproof feature with this rose vibe. I had the same vibe in baby pink and ruined it in water! It may say "waterproof" but I had a bad experience with the other one and because it was so affordable I purchased a new one for non aquatic adventures lol!
How has this held up over time?
Hi Sleeping Dreamer!
This is my second vibe like this, the first one probably would have lasted longer had I not used it in water. The site says it's waterproof but I dunno, it died after that. Maybe I had a bad one, but as cheap as they are I don't fuss to much about it. :) The rose one I have has lasted 4 months and counting but I also have about 20 vibes that I rotate through, so mine doesn't get used as much as someone that might purchase this as a primary use toy. Hope that helps. -SK
