Wouldn't Wanna Catch this Butterfly in my Net.

The design, in my mind, is classic and the toy isn't as bad as I make it out to be if you're into that kind of thing. If you try it and love it then that is all that matters. It is a decent toy for the price and isn't as intimidating, design-wise, as the other vibes I've seen. A good beginner g-spot toy.
Published: July 29, 2011
Pros:
The Butterfly Kiss is the little g-spot vibe that could and it occasionally can!
Cons:
The lack of variety as well as a sticky yet slick surface might cause "friction" with some users.

Use

The Butterfly Kiss Classic, by Cal Exotics, is a low-end g-spot vibrator. I can honestly say that you get what you pay for with this product. The bulb at the end of the device is meant to send strong vibrations to your g-spot while the butterfly at the base of the product tickles your clit. Sounds easy enough.

I need to preface this with the fact that I only used this toy twice in the 5 months I've owned it but I won't be too harsh on it because others might enjoy it.

Material / Texture

Once out of the package, you are met with a slightly sticky feeling yet sleek toy. The bulb and shaft connected to the base is completely smooth and doesn't have any distinctive texture to it, which I would have enjoyed. This toy is made out of jelly and is slightly porous. It is a slight lint magnet, but not as much as other jelly toys I have encountered in the past.

Without lube, the toy does cause a little resistance when using it if you are going to be repeatedly thrusting it in and this is a little awkward because for me, it felt like it dragged on the way in as well as on the way out.

Design / Shape / Size

The butterfly kiss is 7 inches long with 3 1/2 inches insert-able length and the bulb, at its widest, is 1 1/8 inches in diameter. To me, upon insertion the bulb did feel a little rigid and hurt slightly and the butterfly stopped close to a quarter of an inch short of my clit. With careful maneuvering of the toy, I was able to achieve the desired effect but it still wasn't all that worth it. The toy seems to be based on a small wand vibrator and for this reason, the vibrations originate in the base. I was unable to feel the vibrations from the butterfly or any at the bulb. I had to actually push a little hard, to the point of almost inserting the butterfly to get anything pleasurable.

With most dual stimulation toys a fraction of the users run into a snag with the design. Not every woman's body is exactly the same so not every toy of this nature will work. I am one of those women and this is why I didn't like the toy.

Personally, I would suggest this toy for beginners but with caution, because the bulb surprised me a little. It isn't overly girthy but just not what you would expect, if that makes sense.

Functions / Performance / Controls

With the Butterfly Kiss, the vibration control is located on the bottom with a soft button (much like you would find on modern flash lights). It advertises 3 intense speeds of vibration but upon my first click, nothing, my vibration was MIA. On a second click I was met with a moderate vibration but nothing too extreme as with the third. I am used to intense vibrations, like with the hitachi magic wand, so I might just be spoiled as far as vibrations.

The vibrations are powered by 2 AAA batteries, and after using it twice, both around 30 minutes per session, I can say that the vibe isn't a battery drainer. I did, however, have problems with the connection in the battery chamber to the point where the vibe's power would dip but I assume that's just my individual toy.

The toy is waterproof but I have yet to try it under the water. I am always wary of submerging toys even if stated as waterproof but it seems like it would do well. The entire base, as well as the battery chamber, is covered with a thin jelly sleeve which makes up the base of the toy. It seems rather study.

I would also consider this toy rather quiet compared to the other vibrators I've come in contact with, especially on the lower settings. When you get to the third setting, it's a little touch and go, especially if inserted; there is almost a resonance to the vibration. I put a pillow over it to muffle the sound but only because there were people in the house at the time. Naughty, me.

Care and Maintenance

Being a jelly toy means sterilization is a no-go. It is best to clean this toy with warm water and a mild soap. Also, if you are so inclined or ever feel this burning need to share this toy with a friend or lover (which I never understood) you should always use a condom. You could also just use a condom to keep the little sucker from gathering lint and to extend the life if it is a must have for your toy chest. It is also compatible with water and silicone based lubes.

I store mine in its original container just with my other toys and I'm not really one to let my toys mingle so I would assume two jelly's might not mix, even though this one isn't as sticky as the others.

Personal comments

I just wanted to reiterate that I don't think it's a terrible toy and it isn't too intimidating for someone who is new to toys. It's a lot less intimidating than a realistic dildo or vibrator because when I started buying toys, was terrified to have anything that looked like a cock. I'm just silly that way, I've become less shy and more in love with the male organ to the point where I prefer that design over everything else.

The cute whimsical shape of what I gather is a butterfly about to land on a bulb-shaped flower is more girly and might be a little less offensive if found by someone.

Personally, I didn't like it because it ended up being too much work for the quality of orgasm it produced and also because I apparently wasn't designed like everyone else as far as shape and proportion.
Follow-up commentary
The toy is still awkward and I ended up getting rid of it in the great purge of 2011. If you have the body for this design you'll enjoy it.. We just weren't compatible.

That's kind of why I got it in the first place. I was super new to toys and didn't know that there was actually high quality sex toys out there. I was looking for something cheap that got the job done. Now I know better.

    • Anyone know why the blue is more expensive than the pink? They're the same, right? So why is one more expensive?

  • i have experiment attraction to women,,, i´m bicurious?
    • hi my name is yesenia paris,, and i´m 22 but since i was in high school i kind of have curiosity for girls,, i never like really kiss a girl or anything or i never had any female friend to experiment that, like i am very shy person and also like a lonely girl,, althought i am a very pleasant person and i good human being ,, noone seens to like me,,, but although of that matter i still feel the curiosity may because i have never been with a girl before
does that make a bisexual,a bicurious,of it just because the loneliness or the lock of friends,, like i never have a real
girl friend ,, like it´s samething that happens with boys,, you are not friends with them ,, but you like them in a different way,,, i always thing it´s because my loneliness
and the need of an another ,, girl being friends with me i also don´t have a mom to call and talk about my problems maybe it´s because of that the confusion thanks have a nice day
    • Someone made a similar post a while back, and I'll basically tell you what we told her. Don't follow stereotypes. Don't label yourself. If you are interested in girls, then you just are. If you haven't experimented with girls, personally I feel that when I liked someone it isn't based on any particular factor, it is based on the person themselves. I tell people I am bisexual, but really I think of myself as pansexual, not limiting emotion and attraction to anything. Not gender, not age, not race, not social status.

I think that sometimes people can become lonely and will "settle", making them open their views and ideas of dating up, to allow "just anyone" to enter into their lives. My boyfriend was this way, before meeting me, dating anyone who would say yes because he had no friends, and had been hurt and heartbroken so badly he just wanted to feel loved and accepted. I also have a straight friend who dated women just so she could have someone to date, but she wasn't attracted to them, although she liked to experiment and have fun, she says she is straight, but I don't give her a label.

If you ever need a friend to talk to, I am a good listener :)
    • Excellent advice Peggi and I second that. We don't need labels...we're just people. I'm a good listener too.

  • What's up with different Butterfly Kisses?
    • When I bought my Butterfly Kiss I thought there were only 2 versions - the standard and the Platinum Edition. Since I couldn't find the PE in my country I went with the regular one. I was so bent on getting it after watching Kara Sutra's review of it. She said it was TPR. I got my Butterfly Kiss. On the packaging (plastic shell with a piece of paper) it said that it's "phthalate-free" and made of TPR. I'm inclined to believe it as it didn't smell, didn't turn ugly yellow even when I had it for more than a year, didn't sting my bits (jelly does).

Now, however I see those jelly Butterfly Kisses. What's the deal? Was my vibe mis-labeled or are there more than 2 versions? I still have the paper insert from the packaging if you'd like to see it. The vibe itself looks a bit more opaque than what I see in EF catalog - it's always looked like this.

I would also ask people from EF who deal with the Review Program. Is my Butterfly Kiss same as yours (and thus qualifies for a review) or is it a different product?
    • Hi there!! California Exotic Novelties was the 1st to come out with this fantastic design. & yes we only have 2 versions, the platinum & the original. Check it out on our website link

Many other companies have tried to duplicate our product but have had no success. We are the original creators with the best product :) Hope this helps!

It's the jelly - throw it away or always use a condom. Look for better materials like silicone or VixSkin.
    • I wouldn't even use a condom...just get rid of it and stay away from the material.

  • Jelly Deformation?
    • Well I loved this little bugger and it came at a bargain so I suppose I can't complain too much. But I whipped it out for play tonight only to find that the jelly seems to have dented and deformed itself on the lovely bulbous head. I had it in a pocket next to my turbo glider and I suspect with some heat and pressure, that's the culprit that did this. It has very odd dents/suctionish things on it now.

Is this prone to happen to jelly toys? Could it have been the California summer heat? I would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

But in case people are wondering, this a toy I would glady invest in again.
    • It is my experience that jelly toys just deteriorate really fast...the heat may have sped up this process though. I do know heat can cause more phthalates to leak out of jelly. It probably just kind of melted on you a little. I would have to say you should go ahead and get a new one or better yet, find a comparible toy in silicone! Silicone can be boiled so, heat shouldn't be an issue with it at all! It always sucks when one of your favorites melts.
    • Does your house get pretty warm? I've never had that problem and I live in AZ. Was it touching the turbo glider? Sounds like a toy material interaction to me.
