Wow! I Like My Iris Better Than My Gigi!

The Iris is a beautiful flowered vibrator that worked great for my G-spot and clitoris. It offers lots of settings, can lock, and has a nice smooth texture feeling in the flower design. It’s great if you’re looking for a G-spotter with more size to it than the Lelo Gigi. The only downside is that it isn’t waterproof. It’s rechargeable and comes with a great silk storage bag. I’d recommend this toy to average and advanced users because of its bigger size.

Use

What a pretty flower! The Iris, by Lelo, is an excellent toy to target the G-Spot and clitoris. The flower design feels really great and is different rather than ordinary. It is complete with smooth silicone like the Lelo Gigi. It adds some texture to the design without being overwhelming. It's a fairly quiet vibrator for being so big and powerful.

I prefer the Iris to the Gigi because of its texture and bigger size. For this reason, the Iris is best for more average and advanced users. It’s great if you love the Lelo brand but want a bigger vibrator!

Material / Texture

The Iris is made out of very nice, smooth silicone with a plastic handle. Like most other silicone toys, the Iris has no smell and is very safe to use. It's non porous and hypo-allergenic. The silicone is very smooth and hard to the touch. You definitely can't bend the Iris, and the silicone has no give to it. The silicone doesn't attract lint and has no drag to it. It's more of a matte silicone than silky or buttery. I did find a seam on the Iris, but it is barely noticeable. I can hardly see it or feel it.

I like the Iris’ flower design because it provides extra texture. However, the texture is more subtle than intense. It is great if you like texture in small doses. I think the texture and the pointy tip in the Iris provides extra G-spot stimulation than the plain, smooth Gigi. The texture in the Iris would be great for an advanced user or someone new to experiencing texture. It was my first textured G-spot vibrator, and I enjoyed it. Since it is bigger, it does take a little more lube than usual.

Design / Shape / Size

I love the design of the Iris over the Gigi. Not only does it provide more size, but the Iris adds a little texture. It’s available in light blue or pink. I had trouble deciding which color to get! It has a nice slight curve to it to provide optimal G-spot stimulation.

The Iris is definitely much bigger than the regular Lelo Gigi. I own both and took pictures to show you how much bigger the Iris is. The flower design increases as it goes up the vibrator. As you can see on the side picture, it has the same G-Spot curve as the Gigi does. However, it is not as dramatic. The Iris has a diameter of 1 3/8” and an insertable length of 5 ½”, while the Gigi has a diameter of 1 1/8” and an insertable length of 4 ½”. As you can see, the Iris can go deeper than the Gigi giving you a fuller feeling. In general, the Iris is bigger all around than the Gigi. The Iris weighs in at 1.5 pounds (the Gigi at 1 pound), so it’s definitely not the lightest vibrator. However, I still feel like the bigger size is worth it.

As I mentioned before, the texture on the Iris is very slight. The top of the bud begins about an inch down the silicone and slightly raises to simulate a petal. A few inches further down, the silicone is again slightly raised to simulate another petal. As you insert the Iris, it gets a little bigger after each raised ridge. It's a nice gradual increase in size, and it is great for you if you are looking for a decent sized vibrator!

I wouldn’t recommend taking the Iris with you to travel. You definitely could if you wanted to. However, it’s a little big and not necessarily discreet. Someone would be able to tell it’s a vibrator unless you had it in the storage pouch. I would prefer traveling with a small clitoral vibrator.

Like I mentioned before, the Iris’ size is much bigger than the Gigi. For that reason, I recommend the toy for those that like more size to their toys. This is not for a beginner but more of an average to advanced user.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Iris is rechargeable, which I always love in a vibrator because I never have to worry about batteries! A full charge lasts for about two hours of play time. The only annoying thing about this feature is that the cover for the hole that you plug the charger into keeps opening up even after you close it. It’s not the end of the world, but it annoys me sometimes.

The controls are fairly easy to use during play and the plastic bottom makes a good handel. It’s like a control pad with four main buttons. The left to right buttons, - to +, allow you to increase or decrease the vibrations. To turn on Iris, you simply hold the + sign. To turn it off, you hold the – sign. The buttons up and down buttons (little arrows) control the different pulsating patterns. The buttons light up in use too! The control pad is fairly easy to use during play once you get the hang of it.

The other cool thing about Lelo products is that you can lock the controls if you are traveling. That way, you don’t accidentally set off the toy. This is a really great option when storing as well, so you don’t accidently drain the toy. To do this, you just hold down the middle button for 5 seconds. You do the same thing to unlock it. I really suggest you do this! I came home one day to hear vibrations in my room. Come to find out, my Iris was still vibrating. Thank goodness no one else noticed!

There are many vibrating options with the Iris. Here is a general description:
1. Steady vibration. Vroom of 1, Bee of 1. You can hardly hear the first two settings.
2. Steady vibration. Vroom of 1, Bee of 1.
3. Steady Vibration. Vroom of 2, Bee of 2.
4. Steady Vibration. Vroom of 2, Bee of 2.
5. Steady Vibration. Vroom of 3, Bee of 2.
6. Steady Vibration. Vroom of 3, Bee of 3.
7. Steady Vibration. Vroom of 4, Bee of 3.
8. Pulsating pattern: plain fast alternating pulses pulses. Vroom of 2, Bee of 2.
9. Longer pulses. Vroom of 2, Bee of 2.

Since the Iris does provide a lot of power, it can be a little noisy. It can probably be heard through covers, but I don’t think it can be heard through a closed door unless you were really straining to hear it. I would compare it to a small appliance. It is a little louder than a cell phone vibrating at its highest setting. I would be comfortable using the Iris around my roommates.

The only main downside to the Iris and other Lelo products is that it isn’t waterproof. I always have to remind myself of this because I’m used to my toys being waterproof. I like to wash my vibrators in warm water and soap, and I always have to be careful to keep the handle dry. It’s a little bit of an inconvenience, but it is still worth it in the end. I don’t really use toys in the shower that much anyway.

Care and Maintenance

Since this toy isn’t waterproof, you have to be careful when cleaning it. I still like to wash mine in soap and water so just make sure you only wash the silicone part if you wish to do so. Stay away from the handle. If you find that the handle nees to be cleaned, simply use a toy wipe. Thankfully, the slight flower texture doesn't hinder cleaning. It's fairly easy to clean everything off. So far, I haven't had any issue with fluids getting stuck around the control pad. The Iris is sealed off fairly well with the silver band so nothing gets stuck underneath. Plus, there is so much of Iris to insert that I normally don't insert her all the way down!
Since it's silicone, I stay safe and use only water based lubricants. Using silicone based lubricant can ruin the toy, so refrain from using them! I store my Iris and my Gigi together in their pouches in the black Iris box. I love reusing Lelo's boxes!

Packaging

As always, Lelo's packaging goes above and beyond the normal packaging. I got the Iris in pink, so my box came in a cute pink box with the other side showing the product as shown below. No half naked women ever grace the boxes of Lelo products!

When you then open the box, the Iris is in another beautiful classy black box. I love these black boxes that Lelo always uses. I always reuse them to store my toys in. They are really sturdy and are roomy enough to hold more than one toy. This box can definitely be reused. Whether you want to use it for your toys or something else, the options are endless. With the outside box, you can tell it’s a vibrator. However, if you are just using the inside black box, no one would know what’s inside. The black box does have the Lelo logo on top, but it’s barely noticeable.

Once you open the box you find your beautiful Iris! My pink flower was nicely nestled on its side in a foam cutout. So pretty!

Once you take everything out you have your Iris, your charger, the information booklet, the warranty information, a sample packet of lubricant, and the black satin storage bag. Lelo’s information booklet is really informative. It not only gives you instructions, but it also provides a troubleshooting guide if your toy malfunctions.

Lelo provides a warranty for 1 year “against defects due to faulty workmanship or materials”. This is really great if you are worried about purchasing the product. Lelo does an excellent job at keeping the consumer informed and protected. They even provide a 10 year limited warranty. This means if the toy breaks within 10 years, you can buy it for 50% off!

The cool thing about Lelo vibrators is that they use the same charger. I just use one charger for both my Iris and Gigi. I keep the extra charger for backup in case the other one breaks. The black satin storage bag is really nice, and it’s very soft. It closes easily. However, if you shake really hard, it can fall out. Be sure you tie it.
    • Good for storage
    • Very informative

Personal comments

I was really impressed with the Iris. It worked great as a G-spot and a clitoris vibrator for me. For the clitoris, it offers pinpointed pressure. If you are trying to reach the G-spot, the end is pointy. There is also a slight curve to her. Her bigger size will please most size queens out there!

Follow-up commentary
I still love the Iris! I prefer its deign over the Gigi. If you don't think that Gigi's shape will work for you, I'd definitely try the Iris.
