Yin, Be My Moon!

This toy, made to compliment the Yang, just copied it. Though it wasn't for me, I would still recommend it for a beginner. The Yin and Yang are less about being different toys made to balance each other and more about what color you prefer in a toy. There are only 3 settings, and the only redeeming quality of the toy was the carrying case it came with. Maybe if there were more settings it could have been a better toy.

Use

Doc Johnson brought us the Yin and Yang. They are both discreet bullet vibes, mostly aimed towards clitoral stimulation, but could be used as an all-over teaser toy. This toy is for anyone. It could be used to stimulate any partner, and works in any setting because it is a very quiet toy. This toy is perfect for roommate/dorm situations or even being used in a public setting (as long as it's not too quiet) with minimal noise.

Material / Texture

The Yin is made out of a super smooth and easy to clean ABS plastic, which is rated an 8 on Eden's safety scale. This is the ideal material for bullets and vibes because it doesn't smell, isn't porous, and is pretty durable. The only downside is that it can get VERY slippery if you're using lube, and that makes it hard to hold onto. The smooth texture is for both beginning and advanced users alike. The button on the bottom is made of a softer, less durable, plastic.
Yin and Case
The smooth plastic is seamless (up until where it unscrews for the battery compartment) and simply glides across skin with little lubrication.

The carrying case is made of some sort of plastic also and has a "velvety" texture to it. It doesn't collect lint and hair, though.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The Yin has a bowling pin shape to it, which is different from what I have seen and had when it comes to bullets and eggs. The shape does nothing for my pleasure since the tip and sides are the same up until you get to the "hips" of the toy.
Size compare Yin
The shape of the Yin makes it a bit odd to use with dildos that have bullet inserts or cockrings. It can fit in them, but it seems to be a bit more difficult to insert it as deeply as you would like into the toy. Even if you do it's bottom heavy, so in a cock ring it would tilt slightly. The vibrations of the toy also don't travel well. The first two inches of the toy have the vibrations in it perfectly, but it quickly starts to lose power as you travel down the toy.

Yin case compare
It measures in at just over 3 inches, which is standard bullet size. It's not suitable for insertion or anal at all, so I wouldn't try it if I were you. The bowling pin-like shape makes it a bit easier to hold onto because the plastic can be slippery when wet.

The travel case has the classic "Yin/Yang" symbol on it and is the most discreet case for a toy ever. It easily stands up and can be hidden among anything, and the only way people would know what's in it would be to open it. I have mine by a piggy bank on my nightstand and my mom often takes loose change I put there and she has not questioned it at all.

The case is extremely helpful! It can hold my We-Vibe Salsa perfectly, and I would assume that it could hold any other bullet that is about the same size/thickness as the Yin.

Functions / Performance / Controls

When it comes to performance, the Yin could not be any more of a let down. It only comes with three settings: low, medium, and high. I was VERY disappointed when I found this out, but I was even more disappointed when I realized that I couldn't really tell the difference between all of the settings once they were on my clit. I've bought toys that cost less and the difference between the settings was a lot more noticeable than the Yin.

The vibrations are located in the first 2 inches of the toy and are more "buzzy" than "rumbly." To put it to you better, I would have to say it feels close to a bee flapping it's wings against my clit or if I had an electric toothbrush on my clit. This was also a disappointment. The vibrations tickled rather than stimulated. Since it felt like the vibrations were only really strong on the surface of the toy, the same goes for my clit. It stayed on the surface and didn't go further than that. While a beginner might enjoy this feeling, I do not.

The button to change the settings is easy to reach/push. I haven't had any accidents like turning it off in the middle of a heated session.

While the packaging says it's waterproof, I'm not a huge fan of using my toys in situations to where waterproof-ness matters. My advice is to make sure the toy is properly and tightly closed so you don't ruin it.

Care and Maintenance

The Yin is easy to clean. Just some soap and warm water or your favorite toy cleaner/wipes goes a long way. It's easy to care for, and that also makes it very anyone-friendly since it's not very labor intensive when it comes to cleaning/drying. It's compatible with any lube and wont react, so silicone, water, oil, and hybrid lubes are all friendly with the Yin. It also doesn't react with other toys because plastic is very unreactive.

I store it in its carrying tube, which can also be cleaned the same way as the Yin. I would just use soap and water, no need to get fancy.
Innerds of Yin
On the inside of the toy, upon first opening it, there is a small, white half-tube that fits a AAA battery. While it's helpful in telling which way the battery goes into the toy, it's not a super necessity for operating the Yin. If you lose this little piece of plastic you don't need to freak out over it. The little tube can be a pain because the battery isn't super easy to remove once it's in there, so some might prefer to use it without the white thing and just throw the white thing into a junk drawer.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

Yin packaging
The packaging isn't discreet because the toy is visible through a window they put in it. In fact, if it wasn't for the word "EROTIC" across the top, many might not know exactly what the toy is because its shape isn't traditional or suggestive. The Yang and Yin use the same packaging.

Back of package

There are instructions on the back of the box and they aren't very good instructions. They seemed to expect you to know that that the button on the bottom turns it on and how to clean it. There aren't any warnings or anything like having it avoid certain situations or functions. It's a really a "figure it out yourself" toy.

It doesn't come with a AAA battery, but could have easily come with one. I'm not complaining because I picked up some rechargeable ones. I recommend people to invest in some nice rechargeable batteries, you won't regret it.

The box could easily be wrapped and turned into a gift if you cut off the hanging flap on the top.

Why store the toy in its box when it comes with such a cute tube?!
    • Minimal
    • Not discreet
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

This is a nice beginner toy, but that's about all I can say about it. I was very excited about the Yin and Yang, but they turned out to be the same toy with the same crappy, buzzy vibrations. I have used the Yin a few times like the Yang and it took me longer than usual to get even remotely turned on, let alone orgasm. If I let my mind travel enough I forgot I was masturbating. I did have orgasms, but they weren't the body trembling, energy-draining events they usually are for me. It honestly made me appreciate my Salsa and all other toys I have that vibrate. Even if they aren't made for clitoral stimulation, they still do way better than the Yin and Yang.

I think that this toy is overpriced. They could easily sell the cases by themselves (I would buy a ton of them) for like half the cost or a bit less than the total price of the toy and I would be happy with that. The vibe itself is virtually useless to me and I expect it to be a let down for others. I would pay maybe $10 for it, and that's being nice. I'm honestly okay with buying it though, because of the case. If it didn't come with it I would try to find an alternative use for the toy.

All that being said, it's a great teaser toy or toy for all-over stimulation. The buzzy vibrations were perfect for exciting my nipples or teasing other parts of my body and around my vagina. I might use it on my boyfriend to tease him a bit the next time I see him because any kind of vibration is new to him.

Still, the Yin and Yang are exactly the same toy, just in different colors and sold separately on Eden. The ratings given between the two threw me off because I did think that they would be different.

The Yin does fit the characteristics of the sign "Yin." It's slow, soft, and passive.

Experience

I used the Yang first and transitioned to the Yin expecting something different. I used the Yin several times (like the Yang) and was just as impressed. It took 15+ minutes to reach orgasm and I would have to liven up my imagination with outside stimuli (porn usually) to get myself there. Like I said before, the orgasms were less than impressive, and I don't think I've ever had such a weak orgasm when vibrations were used.

It won't shine in my toy collection. I have purchased toys for half the price and got a better result from them. Though they weren't as durable and took more batteries, I was still happier with the other toys I have and the investment was a good one while it lasted.

Doc Johnson could have done better with these and the toy leaves a lot to be desired.
