A stylish (and noisy) white obelisk commemorating good design

If your only pleasure is deep thrusts this won't be the toy for you. But with cleanup this easy, and storage this simple; the Tenga Flip Air is a no-brainer and deserves its place in your collection if the noise level isn't an issue.

Use

Outer Shot of the Sealed Tenga Flip Air
The Tenga Flip Air is very easy to use. First you remove the white cap that holds the toy shut. Flip the toy open and lube it up as much as you desire. Close it up, pop the cap back on the opposite side (this keeps it from hinging open during use) and get ready to get off. The toy fits comfortably in one hand and allows you to manipulate an air seal on both sides with two raised white buttons. Pressing these buttons allows air to escape from behind the silicone, compressing it to fit your member and forming a vacuum when you pull out. Due to the tightness of the vacuum it can be somewhat difficult to discern the different textures deeper in the toy, but the nubs and ridges throughout do an amazing job of stimulating the sensitive glans. It could easily be used by couples and would look far nicer in a partner's hand than your standard stimulating blob.

Material / Texture

This Tenga has a very soft, transparent and hypo-allergenic TPR silicone on the inside. It's a little bit softer than a Fleshlight, but not by much. Honestly it manages to straddle the line between sexual and adorable, as I kept wanting to smush and prod all the little nubs with my finger every time I had it open on my desk.
Inner Texture
Labelled Inner Texture
Speaking of nubs, Tenga designs their toys like a layer cake, with different zones to stimulate in different ways. I've color coded the image above to make describing them all go far quicker. So now, in left to right order:
Pink: A wall of material greets you with its ribbing, like the masturbation bouncer. Oh, you want to get into this club? Well, go on ahead.
Magenta: Time for a pat down. Four identical balls with one tip each provide some gentle touching all around.
Blue: Nothing but nub. Each of these little guys delivers a nice delicate tickling sensation.
Cyan: Six big bumps that rub a wider swatch than their blue counterparts.
Orange: Even if you drift too far to the side these little bumpers will be there to catch you.
Red: At this point all of the textures bulge inwards with the air pressure, making it a much tighter fit. This new segment starts out simple, with 360 degrees of shallow waves.
Yellow: Nub city! A whole wall of soft nubs with a big, bulging ball of them in the center.
Green: The final layer is five striped orbs, four on the sides and one recessed between them.
Of course with a toy like this there is no "up" or "down." You can hold it one way and get those delicate nubs tickling the underside of your head or hold it the other way and have the larger waves lapping away.
The outside of the toy is a hard plastic shell, indented with a pattern of little divots. The texture of that layer is surprisingly good for gripping on to; Even when the lube starts flying it stays put in your hand and gives you plenty of control.

Shape / Design / Size / Fit

Fleshlight Size Comparison
This is a very compact masturbator. With the cap on it stands just over six inches long and three inches wide. Compared to its distant cousin, the Fleshlight, it's downright petite and fits very comfortably in your hand. It takes a very subtle approach to design, featuring a shiny, white, dotted exterior with only a small "Tenga" brand. This makes it very discreet (when capped, naturally) and could probably be stowed away in a bag without raising too many questions.
The inside only has about five usable inches, but this doesn't pose much of a problem as the myriad of textures is best used on the delicate areas around the head. The big problem is that it is a very tight fit. Obviously there's a good amount of give there, what with the vacuum seal and the air release. But if you're packing enough to make a Pringles can envious then you'll probably just crack it in half.

Functions / Performance / Controls

There's only one mechanical aspect to this Tenga, which is a rubbery button on each side of the toy. Pressing these buttons down opens up an air lock behind the silicone. Pop in your member, be amazed as the inside molds itself to you and then let go of the buttons to seal out the air. The buttons are a bit stiff but it's easy enough to see (well, feel) when they're working.
There's no polite way to describe just how noisy things can get with an air vacuum. The sucking and slurping noises with each thrust are incredibly loud. Anyone listening in would think you had a whole dinner party with poor manners enjoying a consommé in your bedroom. There are easy ways to cut down on the noise, though. If you take off the cap and hold it together with your hand you can let air leak in a bit more easily. Or you can keep the buttons held, meaning the internals will close in behind you and open up as you get to poking. Best of all, though, is just taking your time and doing it slowly. There's plenty of stimulating texture along the entrance as well, so you don't have to "go quickly" to "get there quickly."
The toy doesn't have any buzzing or electronic parts but I would avoid taking it into the water. If some of it leaks in through the vacuum button then you'll have no way to get it all out.

Care and Maintenance

First and foremost, use water based lubes. Putting silicone lubricant on your TPR toys is like feeding your gremlin after midnight. Just don't do it. I'd also avoid oil, just to be safe.
The engineering that goes into this toy really stands out when it comes time to put it away. Cleanup is as simple as flipping it open and running it under some water while scrubbing gently with mild soap. Let it dry and then pop the cap back on. I cannot praise this enough. Compared to a more traditional Fleshlight, which has you wrenching a silicone orifice out of a plastic tube and hoping that a pool of congealed man gravy doesn't decide to relocate to your shirt, it absolutely blows them away.
The cap doesn't just hold the toy together but also serves to keep out dust. Now you have a solid white tube, with no gaps for dirt to get in and a nice, dotted pattern on its white exterior. The Tenga scoffs at velvety storage bags. Pop it on your desk, tell people it's a wireless speaker (please don't.) Toss it in your nightstand or the back of a drawer and it'll be ready when you are. A toy this pretty, though, should be right on top of you collection.

Follow-up commentary
Out of all the masturbators in my collection this is not my favorite. Metaphorically speaking it's a Ferrari with a black leather interior, while my favorite has more of a charcoal finish. Until Tenga makes a self-warming and lubricating toy (which would, allegorically speaking, be a turbo-charged pegasus with a cup holder) this is still a top of the line masterpiece.

I just ordered mine, and I'm a little sad. You see, I usually travel with a bottle of silicone lube. I guess it's time to switch to Gun Oil's water-based lubes...

*sigh*

Fantastic review. I can't wait to get mine.

    • I had one of these a while back and after two uses the inner texture seemed to weld itself together and i actually ripped one side off trying to pry it apart. I cleaned it exactly like it told you too, used the right lube, anyone else have this problem because I can not figure out what the hell happened!
    • After cleaning, I leave it open to dry until next use.

    • Does anyone know how well these hold up with a prince albert?
    • Good question.. I have no real idea, but I assume as long as your piercing isn't sharp, it shouldn't be much of a problem. It will be interesting to see what other people say.

I would think that it would hold up pretty well, so long as you don't have a pointed edge on you prince albert.

All personal opinion. I've only tried the flip HOLE white and the flip HOLE black. The black feels tighter, has a slightly stiffer material, and has a more "aggressive" texture with a lot of "sharp" edges (as opposed to gentle round edges in the white model).

For me, personally, the flip hole white is total heaven. I can go for hours with it if I had the time (I'm multi-orgasmic).

Since I'm not into the "death grip", I didn't really like the black one at first. However, after a little more experimentation, I found that using a really light lube instead of one of the thicker ones worked really well with the black one.

My understanding is that Tenga is making the white models less "stimulating" than the black ones, so there should be a similar difference between the black and white flip AIR models.

Also, Tenga makes "lite" versions of these products. I've read a lot of complaints about them being too small for average guys. There is a size chart floating around the forum that gives a reasonable description of the size ranges for each of the Tenga products.

Personally I own two, the Flip Air White and the Flip Hole Black (the latter of which I'll be reviewing soonish.) The difference between them is pretty vast, so it kind of depends on your personal preference. The black models tend to have defined textures that are more noticeable as opposed to the softer white ones with their toned down patterns. The Hole isn't as tight, and expands readily while giving you the ability to put pressure where you like it, whereas the Air it very tight and only allows you to adjust the pressure overall (between tight and "sweet Lord my penis is in a silicone vice.")
Honestly, try to visit your local upscale sex shop. See if they have any models on display so you can compare them yourself in person. If that's out of the question though... hmm, which to chooooooose... well, the Hole is probably the best multipurpose toy even if it isn't as pretty or discreet as its newer brethren.

    • I tried the original it worked and gets the job done. Prefer the flashlights. Might give this a try. anyone find this any better then a fleshlight. Personal opinions on texture and comfort maybe even a realistic feel?

I was a big fan of the nubby entrance. Overall it reminded me a bit of being deep throated, since the beginning is a large gap (with the almost tongue-like stimulation of the little bits tickling your glans) and the end is much tighter and reminds me of that "yup, that's the back of your throat" sensation. Much like in real life I preferred avoiding going all the way in and just stuck to the shallow sensations.
I tend to stick to my Fleshlight (O'Doyle's Stout) purely since it's quieter, but I'll give it a review soon and have a definitive opinion for you.
