And She Pulled Out my Mushroom Tip

The Egg masturbators by Tenga offer a very unique entry to the sex toy world. It fits into a plastic egg case so it is very discreet. The material is very soft and stretchy so it should work for most guys. The see-through aspect adds a new twist to the use of a masturbator as well. The Twinkle interior texture stimulates well and it's fun to twist it around on your head. It may not be as strong as some materials, so go easy on it if you want to keep using it.

Use

The Tenga Egg masturbator is different if nothing else. It is amazing both in idea and execution. It is a compact masturbator with different interiors that is very stretchy and provides good stimulation. The visual aspect is even worthwhile as you can see through it as it stretches along your shaft. It is like a very small and very thin version of an Ice Fleshlight, or almost like a thick condom with interior texture (ribbed for HIS pleasure).

Peel off the wrapping, open the egg, remove the plastic insert and free lube pouch, lube up the interior, and you are in business. The soft silicone may not be built to last through many repeated uses, but the price isn’t bad either. There are several different interior textures which might keep the repeated experiences exciting, but this review is for the twinkle interior.

Material / Texture

The material of the Tenga egg masturbator is listed as silicone. If this is pure silicone, it is softer than any silicone toy in my experience. It feels more like TPR silicone. It is possible that it is similar to the silicone used for the exterior coating of Vixskin or Tantus H2O toys which are also very soft on the outside. This might also explain the delicate nature of this toy as reports have been made that it can be punctured pretty easily. There was no detectable odor with the Tenga egg material.

The texture for consideration here is the Twinkle interior. There are little stars and vertical waves on the interior for stimulation. It’s like there’s a galaxy trapped on the inside of this little egg – think Men in Black, only bigger. Maybe that’s a bad analogy, but the interior textures are very stimulating, so this one is definitely worthy of consideration.

Shape / Design / Size / Fit

Well, like the name suggests, this masturbator is in the shape of an egg with a hole on the bottom for entry. The design is unlike any other and since there are so many different interiors available, it should take one a while to work through them all. The different interiors might not feel all that different, however, so it might be worthwhile to try some of the most disparate ones and see if you can really tell the difference before deciding whether one wants to try them all.

The size is diminutive, but it does have a lot of stretch to it, so if you don’t go too crazy, it should be able to stay intact. The fit was reasonable and not too tight, so warming up with the egg is definitely possible. Lube it up and stretch the opening over your head and then slide up and down until you achieve the desired outcome. It definitely adds a different component to a masturbation session.

Care and Maintenance

This might be the trickiest thing about the Tenga Egg. If it is made out of pure silicone, then you just need to avoid silicone lube. If it is made out of a blended material like TPR silicone, then sticking to water based lubricants becomes much more critical. If you want to play it safe, stick to water based lubricants. This makes water play trickier, but a thicker water based lube might work out okay in this circumstance. The impression is that the Tenga Egg is not designed for long term use.

The Egg is easy to clean as it can be turned completely inside-out with little effort. Soap and hot water or toy cleaner can be used for cleaning. If it is pure silicone, than it should be able to hold up to a boiling, but this has not been attempted yet with the egg I have. Sharing is a no-no unless you are able to sterilize it by boiling or thoroughly cleaning with a bleach solution (if it truly is non-porous like pure silicone).
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Packaging is diminutive as well which makes the Tenga Egg perfect for traveling. It comes in a plastic case (like those plastic eggs you can get at the stores during Easter season). This egg is covered with a shrink wrap plastic outside for shipping. Once the shrink wrap is removed there is no clue as to what is inside until it is opened up. Upon opening, there is a small plastic insert which helps the egg maintain its shape during shipping and has the free lubricant sample pouch rolled up inside. All in all, very creative packaging that has a great look.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Minimal

Experience

I don’t travel often, but I happened to be taking a flight just after having received the Tenga Egg. I figured this was a perfect chance to see if I could get a sex toy past security without issue as this thing is very easy to miss. Both flights I went on it passed through security in my carry-on bag without issue and without embarrassment. It’s fun feeling a little sneaky when you go through airport security.

My use of the egg was straight forward, and it worked very well for me. I did not puncture the egg or really have any trouble with it at all. I will say that it is best to let it remain outside the hard shell after cleaning so it can dry out because it would take a very long time to get dry inside that shell.

I wondered if it was a silicone blend or pure silicone too, so I slathered mine up with a mix of oil lubes and let it sit for a couple of days. There wasn't any noticeable degradation, so I'm pretty sure that it is 100% silicone.

Nice job, ScottA. I was considering what kind of torture to submit mine to as well, but maybe you answered the question for me. You put at least one petroleum based lube on there, right, ScottA? Somebody around here had a flame test, if I remember correctly. It's hard for me to burn my toys even if I did get them for free.

I used a vegetable-oil based lube and a Vaseline hand cream with mineral oil and petroleum jelly (straight petroleum jelly is so hard to clean off)

Thanks, NuMe, Jul!a, and bzzingbee for the kind words.
ScottA - I figured you'd throw some petroleum jelly in there somewhere. That's what I was looking for. Nice work!

Sounds like you're having a lot of fun with this. How many times have you been able to use it? Also, rather cool you got through airport security - what if they had asked about it?

I've used it a couple of times. I was a little nervous going through airport security. I figured I would tell them it was for a new wart treatment system.

Thanks for the compliment, SydVicious. I don't know that I explained the Sublime reference very well, but you can put the egg on just the head and it makes it really look like a mushroom tip. That's what made me think of those lyrics.

  • Anyone have this product? Does it work well?
    • What does everyone who has it think? Do you know anyone with it?

whoops. meant to put this under a different topic!
    • From what I've seen, the general consensus is that the Tenga Eggs are pretty nice for the price (rhyme not intended, haha!). A lot of people recommend them to guys as first-time strokers, since they're cheap and disposable.

Before asking questions like this in the forum, though, read a few of the reviews. I find that it's usually helpful to read at least one from someone who really liked it and one from someone who didn't, so you can get an idea from both sides. :)

  • tenga+strap-on?
    • I don't know why, but I keep fantasizing about jerking off my strap-on/hard pack cock with a tenga egg. I feel kinda ridiculous about it but WHY NOT POST IT ON HERE (oh god my tumblr is showing)

I know some of y'all have talked about getting head on your strap-on...but this just seems a little weird. I have had fun jerking off my strap-on cock every once and a while too..

Has anybody had similar ideas/experiences? It's kinda the psychological aspect, like with getting head, I guess?

(And so it wouldn't be a waste, I'd give it to my partner to use after I've had my fun, seeing as I'm not gonna cum in it...)
    • I wouldn't mind it, I'd probably like it more if my partner was the one playing with it for me though haha.
    • Actually I have a couple different Feeldoes, and I have thought about using our Egg on it as well. Then I reember there are better ways to get an orgasm from my Feeldoe, but eventually the need to try it will override my need for a quicker orgasm. I'll report back once I try it ;)

  • Fleshlight
    • How does it compare to the fleshlight feeling?
    • Alan says there's no comparison; Tenga egg is more like an enhanced hand job, but the right Fleshlight is like "gettin some strange" (his words, not mine.. LOL)

  • Tenga Eggs and Foreskin?
    • So I'm curious because I'd love to get my boyfriend one of these. He is not circumcised, meaning he has his foreskin (thank goodness :D ) but that makes we wonder how well these would work for him. See the reason I ask is because his foreskin occasionally will get caught or pinched in a condom, and I know those are significantly tighter, but I'd hate to buy him something that ends up being uncomfortable.

Any uncut guys have experience with these toys and can give me some insight?
    • I hate bumping my own posts but I'm looking for an answer ASAP... I'd like to place my order for other things tonight, and it'd be great to tack this onto the order rather than buying it separately and paying separate shipping.
    • Sorry I'm late.

My Master is also uncut and I got him a couple of Tenga eggs over the past few months. He says they're really enjoyable and they don't hurt. I do rec that your boyfriend uses lube with it, though.

  • Where have all the Tenga Eggs gone?
    • I'm not sure if I keep missing when these come back in stock and they just get bought up really fast or if they just aren't ordering any more. But My partner adores these eggs and would really like to try the Sparkle or Twinkle. However I've never seen them available. Anyone know what is going on with this?
    • I believe that the Tenga Sparkle and Twinkle were 2010 seasonal limited edition, so EF may not be able to get them in stock again at all. Perhaps you can file a support ticket, though, and inquire as to whether or not they will ever return to stock.

:( I have been wondering why those are always out of stock myself. I really want to get one of both Twinkle and Sparkle for my SO, but I have yet to see them stocked myself.

  • Tenga Egg Material
    • I know EF has the eggs listed as being silicone but I wondered if anyone has actually flame tested one of these cute little guys.

Reason I ask is because I went searching the tenga website when someone (and I cannot for the life of me remember who) wrote a review and were unsure of the egg lotion being water or silicone based.

When I stumbled onto the tenga canada site and saw the specs for the egg it said there they are actually made of Elastomer.

So has anyone taken science into their own hands about these little suckers?
    • Hmmm very interesting indeed...

We've never used one of the eggs, but I'm very interested in knowing the answer to this. Not that it would make a super huge difference simply because they're so cheap and disposable.. I wouldn't mind if it was Elastomer as opposed to silicone. I'm still gonna get one :)
    • Oh for sure. It just would make a whole lot more sense right. Like why it is so disposable, why it does not seem to matter what lube you use.

  • Single use?
    • I'm wondering exactly why these are only single-use. I've read most of the reviews, but still do not understand exactly why (I would have commented, I just wanted to make a general discussion). Since it's silicone, shouldn't it be..? Or is it a really low-grade or soft silicone or something?

      Thank you!

      Hi Sir!

We have one and we've only used it once so far, but the top of the egg appears to be thinning, like it will break with one or two more uses. I think it is the grade of silicone, however, I really do think they can last more than one use. Many people I know who use them get at least a few uses out of them.
    • Glad someone posted on these because I'm infinitely curious about them. I hope someone does a video because I still can't get a good idea of how these work just by looking at/reading about them.
