Double Penetration Vibrator?

The Penthouse Utopia Love Ring by Topco is really more of a sleeve than it is a ring, but semantics aside, it can really work. The sleeve adds girth and texture to whatever it is wrapped around and a vibrator is attached to the top for additional stimulation. The vibrator is mounted vertically which allows for improved clitoral stimulation over those with horizontally mounted vibrators. It may not be perfect, but it certainly can be a lot of fun.

Use

The Penthouse Utopia Love Ring by Topco is a pretty unique device. It is thrown in with vibrating penis rings, but it isn’t like most rings. It is really a sleeve instead of a ring. This means that instead of staying outside your partner’s body during penetrative activities, the ring portion goes in with your penis. This results in a little more girth and additional texture around the base of your penis. It also attaches a vibrator to your penis that can stimulate her clitoris, or your testicles, or other things if you are a little more adventurous. If your partner likes those things, then the toy can be great if they don’t than it’s just a waste.
Here’s the thing, if your partner is in to anal sex, then the Love Ring can be put into place on your penis while you penetrate her anally and the vibrating portion of the toy can actually be inserted into her vagina to provide her with a taste of double penetration. There can not be a lot of thrusting at this point, but you can rock a little and let the vibrator do the work. Although this isn’t the intended use for this device, it is an additional way to use the Love Ring.

Material / Texture

The Utopia Love Ring’s biggest problem is that it is made out of jelly. The problem with jelly is its chemical make-up is somewhat mysterious. It is essentially a plastic that has been softened. Often, phthalates are used for that softening. Phthalates are a concern because it is thought that they may cause endocrine disruption which may have acute health effects in humans. In the case of the Love Ring, Topco is nice enough to inform us that it is phthalate free, so it is better than some other jelly toys that are available. There was very little odor from the toy, which would also indicate the absence of phthalates. Using a material whose chemical composition is clearer (TPR, or TPR silicone) would be preferred.
The Utopia Love Ring certainly does not lack texture. Both the penis sleeve and the vibrator sleeve portion have “pleasure ticklers” protruding from them. These ticklers are little flexible nubs designed to stimulate whatever they rub against. My partner said she could feel the ones on the penis sleeve more than the ones on the vibrator sleeve.

Shape / Design / Size / Fit

The Utopia Love Ring is a hollow cylinder attached vertically to another hollow cylinder. This aligns the vibrating portion nicely to provide decent stimulation to the clitoral area. The material is very stretchy, so it should be able to fit almost any guy without a problem. The vibrating bullet is inserted into its sleeve from inside the penis sleeve which can be a little awkward, but isn’t too difficult to accomplish. It would be nice if the Ring included an anchor ring that could be placed behind the testicles to keep the ring from sliding down the penis.
    • Only fits on penis shaft
    • Will fit most men

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Utopia Love Ring’s vibrator is a small bullet vibe that runs on three AG13 (button cell) batteries. The package does include a full set of three, but in my case, at least one of the batteries was dead, so I had to grab another set. Fortunately it is a pretty common size of batteries amongst sex toys, so I had some others on hand. The bullet is turned on off via a dial at the base. The dial allows variation of vibration intensity, so you can keep the vibrations low if you want or turn them up to the max. Even at maximum, the amount of vibration isn’t that strong, so we usually kept it turned all the way up. The annoying thing with the controls was that they were difficult to adjust while the Ring was on. A better design might be a push button vibe that could be operated while the sleeve was in place. The vibrator looks to have an o-ring around the cap, but it isn’t very substantial, so its water resistance is questionable. The Love Ring packaging makes no claims about water resistance either, so if there is a desire to use it in a bath or shower, realize it may damage the toy.

Care and Maintenance

Jelly is cleaned with soap and water or toy cleaner. It cannot be sterilized, so sharing with multiple partners without covering it with a condom is discouraged. Condom use is also suggested if you are going to use it for anal play. A condom reduces the impact of the texture on the sleeve, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Both water based and silicone based lubes can be used with the Love Ring. Once the lube is under the ring, however, it has a harder time staying in place, so wait to lube up until you already have the ring in place.

Packaging

The Utopia Love Ring comes in a plastic container molded around the different parts of the toy. The container is designed for a hanging display in a store. An information card is also included which highlights the Love Ring’s features on the outside and provides warranty, usage, and care instructions on the inside. The usage information is the standard cock ring warning that indicates not to have the toy on your penis for more than 30 minutes at a time with a 60 minute break between uses. The Love Ring’s material is so stretchy that there is less of a worry of injury than with a standard ring, but it is best to err on the side of caution. The packaging is relatively discreet with no naked women on it. There are some small sketches of the device on a penis, but nothing that should be a problem.

Experience

I was surprised by how much fun my partner and I had with the Utopia Love Ring. I really wasn’t expecting too much. We started out with the “standard” position where the vibrator was able to stimulate her clitoris. She said it felt okay, but it wasn’t enough to really “get her there”. I turned the ring over to see how that felt on my testicles and/or her anus. This didn’t really provide all that much satisfaction for us either. At this point, we decided to get a little crazier and decided to try our “double penetration” maneuver. It worked surprisingly well and had her coming in no time. This is probably the primary way we’ll be using it in the future. Orienting the vibrator vertically is definitely an improvement over most vibrating cock rings because it allows better stimulation to the clit.

Excellent review. I have a jelly finger cot that doesn't have much of a smell either. It must not have phthalates either. Thanks for including a discussion of jelly in your review. I learned a few things.

Thanks for the compliment, Tuesday. I generally avoid jelly if I can, and I haven't had any jelly toys for a while, but when I hit on a less desirable material I like to include as much information as possible.
