It takes two to tango... but probably not these two.
In this set one lube was definitely ready to tango, while the other one seemed to be off the beat. We bought this set mostly because of the desire to prolong our sex sessions... and JO for MEN did exactly what it promised to do! The women's one, however, had nothing to offer me. I simply don't like it and I strongly doubt that I ever will.Published: October 17, 2011

Use
System JO 2 to Tango is a pack of two lubes and each of them has its special features. In short, this set underscores the common desire of a couple to harmonize their sexual life. Thus one lube is designed to decrease sensitivity in men and the other promises to increase sensitivity in women.
Moreover, JO for MEN is water-based while JO for WOMEN is silicone, which also adds some difference to their use.
JO for WOMEN
The best use for this product, in my opinion, would be:
- PIV sex: as the most of silicone lubes this one is long-lasting and hypoallergenic, so it's definitely suitable for vaginal intercourse. JO for WOMEN also increases sensitivity with a long-lasting cooling effect.
- Masturbation and toy sessions: remember that silicone lubes should never be used with silicone toys without a condom. Apart from that - JO for WOMEN is great for the purpose. And even though it is claimed to be for female-bodied individuals, I see no problem with a guy using it as well.
- Anal sex: silicone lubes are suitable for this purpose either. Just keep in mind the cooling effect which not everyone might like.
- Sex in the shower: as far as silicone lubes are resistant to water - that's also an option.
- By the way, did you know that you could use your silicone lube for shaving? According to this guide, it even makes a razor last longer!
JO for MEN
The best use for this lube would be decreasing sensitivity to keep an erection and to prevent premature ejaculation. However, keep in mind that sexual pleasure for some men could be also reduced. Also it's not a best choice for sex without a condom, because this way lube will affect the other partner and diminish their sensations as well.
Here is a list of ingredients for both lubes.
* Men's: Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Propylene Glycol, Benzocaine, Mentha Piperita, Peg 8, Water;
* Women's: Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone, Menthol.
If you look at the ingredient list, you can see that JO for MEN, unfortunately, has a rather questionable safety. First, it contains parabens and there is a popular opinion that parabens may have carcinogenic and estrogenic effects. Even though specialists themselves are still not 100% sure about that, some people might want to stay away from this lube. Second, propylene glycol is known for causing allergic reactions in some individuals. Third, benzocaine (local anesthetic) is a also a well-known cause of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. People with allergies to benzocaine or similar numbing agents should avoid using this product.
By the way, if you think you might be allergic to some components, you can apply a small amount to your wrist or inside elbow area, and wait for 10-12 hours to see if there is any reaction.

These lubes are semi-clear, though JO for MEN is a bit on a yellowish side. Both are super slick, silky and long-lasting, even though JO for MEN is water-based. Unlike all the other water-based lubricants I've encountered so far, this one is more thick and much less runny. I even suspected it being a hybrid, but the ingredient list doesn't indicate that nor does JO official web-site. Both these lubes do not feel greasy, but leave your skin slightly moisturized as if you just rubbed some massage oil into it. I haven't noticed them leaving any particular stains on my sheets, but it was quite difficult to wash JO for WOMEN off myself even with warm water and soap.

Taste / Aroma
Both lubes have a distinct fresh minty scent. If you look at the ingredient list you will see that JO for MEN contains peppermint (Mentha Piperita) and JO for WOMEN contains menthol - that's what gives the aroma. For my personal taste, JO for MEN smells more pleasant, while the menthol scent in women's one is a bit sharper and reminds me of cough drops.
You probably shouldn't try using it for oral, because JO 2 to Tango is not edible. However, I've tasted both lubes and I can say that the men's one will make your tongue loose its sensibility for a while and it tastes rather horribly. When benzocaine is used in the throat, its numbing action can suppress the gag reflex. Nice thing to have for an easy deep-throating, huh? But please, remember that products with benzocaine should be used with caution before bedtime. Sleeping people are put at an increased risk of aspirating vomit or saliva, which can actually cause choking. Women's lube, on contrary, has no distinct taste, but being silicone it's still not a good choice for oral.

Performance
JO for WOMEN
This lube is the first silicone lube that I've ever tried, so there's a chance that I simply don't like that type. However, the only thing that I enjoyed about it was the cooling sensation: it felt unusual and nice. As for the main purpose, I wished it was better. First, JO for WOMEN lacked natural feeling. Second, even though it's silicone, we had to reapply it very often. And finally, I hate the fact that it was so hard to clean off. But please, remember, it's just the matter of personal taste and an honest opinion. You may actually like this product, which I hope you do.
JO for MEN
Unlike the women's lube, this one is a total win for us. We use condoms, so benzocaine doesn't affect my sensitivity. Also the amount of it must be perfectly balanced, so that it helps my guy to stay much longer, while still having great sensations and enjoying the process. The only problem is that sometimes this lube makes it hard for him to finish and we have to change a condom, but it's not a big deal.

Packaging
System JO 2 to Tango comes in cardboard box. You can see the box on product's page - it is absolutely true to the picture. It is totally indiscreet due to the large Mars and Venus signs right at the front. Moreover, such phrases as "pleasure for the couples" and "personal lubricant" leave no doubt about the sexual purpose of the product. There is also a cardboard holder inside, so the bottles stay in place while transported.
On the back of the box you can find:
1) Directions: "Apply a small amount... to genital ares. For condom use, you may apply inside and/or outside of condom surface".
2) Properties: of both lubricants: men's lube - "exhilarating sensation, electrifying intensity, harder and stronger, prolonged lovemaking"; women's lube - "heightened sensation, enhanced gratification, thrilling feeling, endless intimacy".
These look like typical marketing high sounding phrases which they most likely are. But I like "thrilling feeling" rhyme.
3) Ingredients.
4) Warnings: "if irritation or discomfort occurs discontinue use and consult a doctor" and "keep out of reach of children".
Each lube comes in a 2 fl. oz (60 ml) plastic bottle with a pump at the top. This construction is very convenient for dispensing the product and making sure it won't spill. On the other hand, when I'm in a middle of having sex I just can't sit there and squeeze it out a drop by drop. For me, it takes too long to dispense it, so the pump is my choice for toys, but not for passionate nights.
There is also a clear plastic cap on each bottle which protects the pump. However, I've noticed that these caps tend to fall off all the time, so even though it was added to make the packaging more travel-friendly, in fact it's not.

Personal comments
Conclusion
I'm giving this set 3 stars, but if I could rate these two lubes separately, it would be 5 and 2.
The only thing I would like to add is that, despite all the shortcomings, this JO set is a nice thing to try. It won't be a lie if I a say that JO 2 to Tango screams about a good quality: bottles are nice and shiny, lube feels nice and it actually delivers almost everything that is promised. This, in my opinion, makes it a great gift for couples.

Follow-up commentary
I've started to like it more
1 month after original review
Surprisingly, I've started to like that cooling sensation I get from the women's lube. The bottle is still inconvenient for me as I would prefer to dispense more than a small drop of lube at once, but I've started to accept it. Also it is pretty good for... shaving. Seriously. Silicone lubes are generally suitable for that purpose and this one also leaves the area smelling nice and fresh.
As for the men's lube, it still serves its main purpose well. Although, I wouldn't recommend using it when a guy is tired, had an ejaculation not long ago or there's any other factor that is known for decreasing sexual function. With a desensitizing lubricant on top of that a guy might find himself either softer than desired or almost unable to ejaculate. So be careful.

good review, thanks for sharing. I have not been able to get one of these types of lubes to work well for us. Always bad experiences with them.
Wow, you've finally reviewed it! I've been waiting for it Thank you for the great review! And thanks for adding similar products.
Thanks
Good review with good info.
I don't think I'd use either, due to all the ingredient issues. Parabens, benzocaine, (does it numb the woman when the man has it on him?) glycol, menthol and silicone are all things I avoid in lubes.
But, thank you for letting us know all the pitfalls and good things about this lube set.
married with children, sorry that you had a bad experience with lubes of this kind Thanks for reading and commenting!
Blonde, I'm glad it's been useful for you thanks!
Pink Jewel, you are very welcome
P'Gell, thanks a lot!
Yes, as I mentioned, it will certainly decrease sensitivity of receiving partner as well. The thing is, we always use condoms (I'm not on a pill), so it wasn't a problem for us. But for sex without a condom it won't be the best choice to say the least
Btw, I'm now wondering if silicone has something to do with my yeast infections. I always avoid glycerin, parabens and other dangerous chemicals, but didn't think about silicone lubes being potetially harmful for me as well!
Mm, useful, tnx)
Faust, you are welcome! Great to know it was worth reading for you
