Penis pumps are used by men for a variety of reasons. Pumps are prescribed for erectile dysfunction, however this pump is recreational instead of medical. They can be used for masturbation purposes, which is the recommended use for the John Holmes pump. They are also believed by some men to aid in penis growth, but there is no medical proof of pumps contributing to permanent penis growth. It has been our experience that while the pumps promote larger, thicker immediate erections, there is no permanent growth effects from using one.

Care should be taken when using a pump. Use only for a maximum of 20-30 minutes. Stop if any discomfort occurs. Do NOT over pressurize while penis is inserted, this could cause permanent damage. Continued, prolonged use may contribute to bending of the penis due to tissue damage. Basic common sense should be used when you are playing with a penis pump and the experience will be enjoyable. Get careless and disregard the basic instructions and you could sustain some temporary to permanent damage to the penile tissue.

The John Holes Personal Pump arrives in a large, very x-rated box. It includes a 1 ounce sample lube and instructions, which you should read before using the pump. The pump is big and not discreet in any way. This pump includes a rubber base seal, which can be removed and replaced. The rubber is used to create a seal and should be lubed prior to inserting your penis. This seal was very uncomfortable for my husband, the hole is only 1" diameter, and even though it easily stretches, it was too tight of a fit. It also did not create a strong enough seal and was very frustrating for both of us. It is almost impossible to use this pump alone, I had to hold this for mu husband while he pumped, or vise versa.

The pump has an overall length of 13 5/8". The top 5 1/2"is the hand pump mechanism. You pull the top up and press down to create suction. And do not forget to plug the hole in the side with your finger or there will not be any suction created. You may cover this with duct tape, just leave a pull tab for releasing the pressure easily. The inner diameter of the pump is a hefty 3", which with the correct sleeve, will accommodate almost any man.

Use warm and soapy water to clean the pump, taking care not to submerge this, a bottle brush is wonderful for the interior. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. You may store this in the original box, but may prefer to store this in a large tube sock for discretion. Since it is plastic, it may be stored with other plastic toys. You may use any type lube with this, but I recommend water based for ease of cleaning.

How to use this monster? Well, with a partner due to the size, release hole on the side and up and down piston style pump. This was an exercise in futility the first few times we tried to use this pump. The rubber sleeve did not maintain a strong, continuous seal unless perfectly positioned. The finger valve for pressure release was distracting and we ended up using tape over it. The up and down motion of the piston style pump was very difficult to operate while trying to maintain a seal on the bottom. This one was not a total loss, we are experimenting with ways to save it and have fun. The follow up review will have our results.

This was a great novelty item but not a good functional item. Unless you were born with three or more hands. The top piston pump is not condusive to creating a good seal for the vacuum, when you pull up to pump, the bottom of the pump releases from your skin allowing air to break your seal.

This is one toy that has us a little confused for alternative uses. I am sure there are some out there, but right now we are blank. Sorry to disappoint, but the John Holmes is best left in the box.
