So Pumped with sleeve - penis pump by Doc Johnson - review by rubberjack69

As one might think, a penis pump is pretty much designed to do one thing: suck. I don't mean in the awesome blow job way, but literally, to suck the penis into the tube causing it to engorge and become larger. Well, the "So Pumped" with sleeve, doesn't quite do that. The concept is as follows: lube up your member, place it into the cylinder and squeeze the bulb to create suction.

The “So Pumped” with Sleeve comes full assembled right out of the package and can be taken apart for easy cleaning. It breaks down to; the hard plastic cylinder, the soft jelly sleeve, and the pump/tube assembly. The pieces of this pump are all pretty durable and are unlikely to need replacing over time.

A penis pump is often used for creating a stronger erection or perhaps enlargement(though research has proven pumps do not actually create permanent enlargement.). Personally, I like the suction feeling a penis pump provides, and with the use of a cock ring, creating really strong erections. The use of this particular model is a bit frustrating.

The material is pretty much what you would expect. It is hard and smooth acrylic outside with a soft, jelly(TPE) removable insert that has little nubs all over it. It’s pretty soft material and feels good against your skin. The sleeve material would “pull” quite a bit without lube but becomes plenty slick after applying a bit of lube. There is a plastic tube and bulb that connects to the top (for creating the suction). As mentioned above, this toy is ready to go right out of package.

At first glance this pump looks like it would accommodate most guys unless you are over 2” wide when erect, and “curved” guys should be able to use this as well. The nubs on the inside are not really felt even at full erection unless you move the toy up and down, but if you do that, you are not creating the suction this toy was designed to provide. The hard plastic has no odor at all, and the removable sleeve has a mild "new plastic" odor, but it's barely noticeable. I had to get it quite close to my nose to smell it.

The overall design was not well thought out. Most pumps have a sleeve on just the end that seals everything off like this one: Traditional Penis Pump This unit has a soft, flexible jelly-like sleeve that's inserted into the entire inside of the hard plastic cylinder which leaves it “open ended”. The inner sleeve has these cool little bumps in the inside of it, but even when you do get a good seal and your penis is engorged, you can't even feel the bumps because they are too far away.

The description of states the inner diameter to be 1", but it is actually 2". If you have a 2” wide penis, you may be able to feel them, but I would suspect not unless you moved the unit up and down. The sleeve is removable, but if you take this sleeve out to wash it, it's a bitch to get back in. Otherwise, if you leave it in the plastic tube and wash the unit assembled, water gets trapped between sleeve and cylinder which is bad.

Regardless of design, this baby is anything but discreet. Anyone who sees it will know exactly what it is for. Therefore, if you travel by air with this, do so at your own risk.

Having used a penis pump before, I am well-versed on how this toy is “supposed” to work. I began by lubing up my penis as well as placing a little bit of lube on the open end of the pump; I slid my semi-erect member into the pump and began squeezing the bulb. Nothing really happened until I pressed the base of this thing into my body to create a “seal” that would allow the vacuum effect desired. In order to do that, I really had to press this thing hard into my abdomen.

Being a pretty hairy guy, I keep myself trimmed down below, but I could tell that the hair that's there was keeping this from working at maximum efficiency, and I had to hold it in place or it would lose suction entirely. I would suspect that if you were completely shaved it may seal a bit better. The pump on this device is easy to squeeze, and if you can actually get the base of it to seal, 2-3 good pumps will create a nice amount of suction, creating a nice firm erection.

The quick release valve is a button at the end of the bulb and is easy to find / easy to press - not that you need it because all you have to do is let go of the sleeve and the unit loses all suction. I would not recommend using this in the water. While all of the pieces are indeed waterproof, the suction created by the bulb will suck water into it and could cause mold. This pump in general is best suited for advanced users due to its design.

This toy is not hard to clean, but it is hard as hell to re-assemble after cleaning. After use, remove the bulb and hose. If you ended up getting any lube on the bulb just rinse it with warm water, but DO NOT squeeze the bulb within or under water. If you get water trapped in the bulb, it can create mold.

Now, to clean the cylinder and sleeve. Pull the sleeve out and wash under warm water and do the same with the Acrylic cylinder. Let air dry and then insert the sleeve back into the cyl...insert the sleeve back into the cylin...HEY! How the hell am I supposed to get this sleeve back into the cylinder, again? Well, I tried several methods. The only 2 I had success with were either lubing the shit out of the sleeve and inserting it, but that was a real pain to clean afterward and I had to remove the sleeve to do so, so I was back to square one.

After a good bit of tenacity, I discovered a method that worked pretty well. After the sleeve and tube have dried, make sure the bulb and tube are not attached, and lightly dust top of the sleeve with cornstarch. Then I inserted a dildo into the sleeve and then pressed the sleeve back into the cylinder using the dildo, and then pull the dildo out of the sleeve while holding the sleeve to the cylinder on the open end. Pretty complicated and a pain in ass (not in the good way), if you ask me. Once you get it cleaned and put back together, it stores pretty easily fully assembled and ready for next use. The jelly insert will collect a bit of lint on the opening, but a little cornstarch dusted on the end will prevent that.

Packaging was basic clear plastic clam-shell type. The picture in the description shows it accurately. What you see is what you get. The toy name of the toy and the manufacturer are written on the insert as well as a few "bullet points" about the toy including the following;

-"compact size is perfect for travel" (ever seen the Austin Powers movie?)
-"strong pump/maximum suction" (it's a strong pump if you can actually get it to seal)

One thing the package does not say anywhere (as most do not) is how to use the toy. The package was easy to open and close again, and in theory, you could store it in the packaging, but it seems like it would be much more compact stored out of the package.

To improve this toy, I removed the nubby, hard to insert, flexible sleeve and used this silicone donut: Silicone Sleeve The pump worked great after that. It fixed the lack of suction issues and created a strong, firm vacuum effect. I will use it in this configuration as it finally makes it worth using.
