The Tenga 3D is an innovative line of close-ended masturbation sleeves, available in 5 different internal textures. (I got the pile, which is a series of piled-up triangle.) What makes these sleeves unique is they come “inside-out” on a plastic stand with a clear top so that the internal texture is on display. This makes them look more like small pieces of modern art than sex toys. This plastic stand ,like the stand on it larger siblings the Tenga Flip Holes, provide you with an easy place to allow the sleeve to air dry after use.

To use, you remove the sleeve from the stand; turn the sleeve out so that the texture is on the inside of sleeve; lube it up; place it on you or your partner’s penis and stroke away. This design also gives you two sleeves for the price of one, although the textured side is main attraction you can also leave the sleeve inside-out use the smooth “external’ side as well.

The Tenga 3D is made out of a very soft and stretchy, AG Antibacterial Elastomer (JIS 2801 certified) and comes with a plastic stand. The toy unlike sleeves made out of lesser materials is order less. The material is pours, but less so than materials like cyberskin or Superskin. Due to this level of porosity you can’t sterilize or sanitize this toy, thus sharing is not recommend. If you must both users should wear condoms.

The sleeve also comes with a free packet of Tenga Hole Lotion Real lube that has the following ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Alcohol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Phenoxyethanol, EDTA-2na, Paraben, Polysolvate 80, Sorbitan Cocoate, Fragrance.

The texture of the Pile is a series of haphazardly placed triangles. Starting from the end of the sleeve they start off loosely packed and then become more tightly packed and “piled-up” as you reach the entrance of the sleeve. See performance section for how they feel (Spoiler: amazing)

This sleeve measures a total of 4.5 inches in length with an unstretched diameter of 2.0 inches. The sleeve is very stretchy, and should be able to stretch to fit penises of any length and girth. To test, with some lube I was able to easily stretch this over the large girth of the Tantus General.

With the texture on the outside, the sleeve looks cylindrical in shape. However, when you invert the sleeve the end portion balloons out this creates a tighter entrance canal and providing a better grip for your hand. Inverting the sleeve also squishes the triangles together

As mentioned above this is probably the most artistic line of masturbation sleeves ever and you might even be able to fool someone in to think this is just a mini-piece of modern art!

I’ll get to the point: this is perhaps my favorite masturbation sleeve out of the many I’ve tried. It is defiantly my go to non-canister styled sleeve. The internal texture thanks to its design is unpredictable providing an intense sensation. You can also ,although it not it intended use, use the external smooth side of the sleeve as a bonus, however I've never been a fan of completely smooth textures. The softness and stretchiness of the material allows you not only to stroke with the sleeve, but also to twist and squeeze the sleeve to provide different sensations. You can also try stroking your penis through the sleeve as opposed to stroking with the sleeve for another way to vary the sensation. The result: excellent orgasms.

For all these reason, I find this sleeve to be excellent for edging (keeping yourself on the edge of orgasm) and/or stamina training. The intensity of the texture is balanced by your ability to manipulate the sleeve in a variety of ways that allows you to keep yourself on edge. On that same note, I’ve mastered the ability to have non-ejaculatory multiple orgasms this sleeve is good for that for the same reason it is good for edging, it allows the right balance of sensation and control to allow me to achieve orgasm while not achieving ejaculation. But it doesn’t end there for me, multiple orgasm comes very naturally to me with this sleeve. Without deliberately trying I usually get off a few non-ejaculatory orgasms before the final ejaculatory one. I don’t know if it some to do with the feel of the sleeve itself or if the deign just causes me to intuitively fall in to a multiple orgasm producing pattern but either way, it is part of the reasons I love this sleeve so much.

I really have very little to say negatively about his toy. One possible negative is that it states this is designed for only 50 uses. However, I say possible because the consensus regarding the Tenga products is they do generally last longer than that; however I will keep this in mind and report how it is holding up in the follow up review. I think the packaging could be slightly improved (see: packaging section)

Lastly, this isn't truly a con but I feel it worth noting that I liked the texture and feel of this one so much that this is the first non-canister type masturbation sleeve that I wish came in canister form (i.e. like the Fleshlights and already mention Flip holes). The reason is that the canister model masturbation sleeves can be used with a Fleshlight mount like the on a mission. Actually thrusting into a sleeve in a natural fashion really changes the experiences and like I said the is the first non-canister style sleeve I’ve like enough to want to try full sized mount compatible version. You would trade many of the benefits of a handheld sleeve if they did this, but still I’m left hoping they’ll make a Pile XL someday.

Cleaning the toy is easy just use some soap and water. The design of the sleeve makes it easy to clean as you can turn it inside out. As stated before, the base provides an easy place to allow the sleeve to air dry making cleaning even simpler. This base is also the best way to store it, although it would be even better if it locked for easier transport (see packaging section for more).

Elastomer is generally compatibly with both silicone and water based lubes. Although if you want to err on the safe side a simple water based would be the least likely to have any material compatibility reactions.

The toy comes in the same stand you use to air dry/store the toy. To elaborate the stand is a cylinder measuring a total of six inches tall with diameter of approximately 2.75 inches. The bottom portion is an inch tall. It is black with silver lettering with the name of the texture ,”pile” in this case, in large letters with, "Tenga 3D" in smaller letters underneath and finally "New concept Hole" in smaller letters under that. On this button portion is the pole you place the sleeve, on the top is an inch diameter disk that helps keep the sleeve in place. The top portion is simply a clear plastic top. My one minor complaint about the packaging is that the clear upper portion does not lock onto the base. This means if you do not want it to come loose in transport you will likely have to tape it shut.

One the toy arrives to you it will be taped shut via a label, on the button will be a small cap holding the included trial packet of lube and instructions in Japanese and English. The pole on the base will also come with a large an additional disk on the top and some Styrofoam warp these are for shipping and should be removed when you receive the toy.
