If you've been married for 20 years, there's not much chance that you'll learn much from this movie; and if you've been watching pornos together for years, this probably will not impress you. My husband and I have been married for four years. We have a fun, active love life, and enjoy playing together. One of the things we've talked about is watching porn together: something I have very little experience with. This video ended up working well for that purpose. It is definitely more of a porn than an instructional video.
The video is narrated by "sexologist and Playgirl advice columnist Jayme Waxman." She is an energetic, fun, un-intimidating person. She does a quick introduction before each of the three sections, each of which offer a tip on stirring things up. The sections are mutual masturbation, role-playing and anal sex.
For my husband and I, none of these are new ideas. We really only learned two things: that silicone toys can be washed in the dishwasher, and how to perform an enema in preparation for anal sex. (Don't be alarmed, they didn't show that part, they just explained it well.)
While the ideas the video throws out are pretty tame, the porn scenes that illustrate each section are anything but. In other instructional films we have bought, new techniques and suggestions are discussed in detail, and sex scenes are erotic but tame and seem to be performed by the "couple next door." These video clips take off from the simple suggestion the narrator talks about, and then are performed by professional porn actors, who hold legs out of the way for the camera, and play up the moaning. Two of the three girls obviously faked their orgasms, and the actors look like professional porn actors, not like everyday people. They show penetration vividly, and they get a bit rough at times.
One of the best parts of the video was that it showed women using several different styles of sex toys which I had looked at in the past, but which I wasn't sure how to use, or how to incorporate them into sex. After watching the video, we have a new toy or two on our wish list!

Experience
All in all, the video (Seeking Monogamy Without Monotony) had the desired effect. It was arousing, and led to several rounds of fun for us during and after the movie. It also gave us the chance to watch our first real porn movie together, while the "instructional" sections in between broke up the sometimes-intimidating hard-core porn, and re-introduced a sense of fun. It helped to pave the way for other porn-watching experiences in the future. Under the guise of learning, we got to experience it together and feel out the fact that we're both comfortable watching these videos, not offended or uncomfortable. When it was over, we both agreed that we're interested in getting some real porn movies in the future.

After reading the other review on this movie, and the responses to it, I thought I'd ad a post-scriptum here.
Included on the DVD are previews for Volume 1 and Volume 3 of the series by the same narrator. The first volume seems to explore a multitude of options for sex, focusing on toys, including at least one girl-on-girl scene using a strap-on dildo.
The third volume explores the many many different ways that women can have orgasms, including some crazy-ejaculating scenes. She mentions that one of the other movies covers threesomes, but it's not clear which.
It is only this second volume in the series that focuses solely on sex between a man and a woman who've been in a relationship for a period of time.

I hope you'll post a follow-up review after you get and watch some "real" porn. I'm curious as to how it compares to this (I tend to not be a fan of many mainstream porn films). I would suggest trying something by Candida Royalle--her porn is hardcore, but still generally has a logical plot and is female-friendly. Still somewhat cheesy, but hey--it's porn!
That's really great, that you were able to open up some doors for yourselves. I would suggest a dvd from the Chemistry series. The sex varies in intensity, and can tend to be fairly hardcore because the people in it are pornstars, but you can rest assured there won't be any fake orgasms or dramatic moaning. The way the movies are set up, the stars are in charge of when, where, and how they have sex. Plus, it's broken up with "diary room"-like interviews, so it would be similar to this video in that regard.
