Afternoon Delight - book discontinued by Cleis Press Inc. - review by CollegeFun2014

This was a good book, but I expected a lot more from it. Not more as in a variety of stories, because I will say that Allison Tyler did a great job of making sure there is something for everyone, but more as in more sex. A good amount of sex scenes were just too short, and because some stories themselves were just too short in general, their sex scenes virtually disappeared. I would say on average that the naughty bits of the story were just long enough to get me excited, but then I was left with disappointment.

A few stories really were hot, but still could have taken it up a notch. I don’t want to say they were censored, but they weren’t steamy by any means. If you’re looking for something really raunchy and steamy, I do not recommend this book. If you don’t mind your sex toned down, then this really is a decent read minus how short some of them are. I am sure this isn’t going to be a book I pick up over and over but the few stories I enjoyed will be read at least once more. If read together I think a few stories in this book could open doorways that would allow you to explore fantasies and create new ones.

Overall, I wasn’t able to read through this book in one sitting or even two as it just didn’t keep me entertained. I’m honestly sad to say that after four of five stories I had no motivation to keep reading. Almost every author did a great job with a setting, but personally I just like dirtier and longer sex scenes in my erotica. The book is well-constructed and should be able to stand up to any rough play it encounters if it takes you there.

I bought this book after a friend of mine really got me into erotica. One day while she was with me, she read one of the stories and then put it down, disappointed, just like I was. I will admit she did read the least entertaining story in my opinion, so perhaps next time she reads it there will be a different reaction.
