An Unthreatening Introduction to Audio Erotica

This CD would be great for people who are new to erotica and looking to introduce new fantasies into their erotic imaginations. Perfect for a sexually conservative couple that isn't ready to watch porn together but still wants to spice things up. Those looking for long, explicit sex scenes are likely to be disappointed, as are those who prefer less vanilla sexual situations.
Published:

extremely useful review
This is a CD of erotic stories, read by a handful of women who did a lovely job. One woman had a British accent while the rest sounded American. There are 8 stories, each 7 to 11 minutes long, with Enya-like music to open and close the CD and transition between the stories. Here's a quick description of each story, without spoiling too much:

Roadside Assistance: A woman and her boyfriend try to fix their car on the side of the road and get a little distracted.

The Big Tip: A waitress flirts with a sexy customer.

The Dinner Party: A couple sneaks away from a boring dinner party to liven things up a bit.

Falling for Jean Carlo: A traveler meets a sexy foreign stranger who becomes her knight in shining armor (figuratively).

Slave for a Night: A woman attempts to spice up her marriage by promising to be her husband's slave for a night, and she is surprised by what he comes up with.

The Subway: Ever want to get it on with the visibly aroused stranger pressing up against you in a crowded subway car?

Blind Date: A woman meets someone new when she notices him watching her through her window late at night.

Bending the Rules: A librarian flirts with her sexy new co-worker.

As you might expect, all stories are told from a female point of view. Aside from some flirtation between women in Slave for a Night, all the stories feature sexual encounters between one man and one woman. Some stories are just foreplay. I'll have to listen to it again, but I'm pretty sure there were a couple bits of oral sex on a woman but no blowjobs for any of the men. No anal or group scenes. Exhibitionism and the erotic fear of discovery are common themes, but there is also a good deal of sexual situations with virtual strangers. Not all the stories get as far as penis-in-vagina sex, and the charm of many of them is the setting and the buildup more than the description of a sexual act itself. If you are looking for explicit and lengthy descriptions of sex acts, you'll probably be disappointed. The vocabulary is inoffensive, mainly avoiding both the standard, potentially offensive sexual terms (fuck, cock, pussy) and also mostly free of the cheesy euphemisms you read in romance novels (love canal, "staff", "member", etc.). The actual sex in one story takes place in 10 seconds of audio, leading to an abrupt and disappointing ending. Undressing, a few thrusts, and then collapsing in climax, in a span of 10 seconds. I had to replay the section a few times to make sure I hadn't missed something. Another story doesn't go farther physically than some nipple play in public, which leads to the woman's orgasm somehow. If only we could all be so lucky! Some stories seemed to drop off suddenly just when the action was getting good. Most of them have open endings that invite you to imagine further sexual experiences of the same couple. I recommend stopping the CD after each story and letting the fantasy play out in your head to get full enjoyment of each story. If you're with a partner, it would be a great way to initiate a bit of dirty talk, discussing what each partner enjoyed about the story and how you might do something similar yourself.
Experience
I had a few personal problems with the CD. I thought the music was distractingly cheesy, and I would have preferred stories that got more into the sex act and less into descriptions of the individual characters and their relationships. The women frequently behaved in ways I would consider to be careless and potentially dangerous, particularly the ones who become sexual with perfect strangers in situations where other women might scream or call the police, all without discussing condoms. But, if you can get over these things, the scenarios got me hot. Only 2 of the 8 stories (Roadside Assistance and Falling for Jean Carlo) did not do it at all for me, mainly because I found myself completely unable to see myself as the featured woman in the story. But, in any collection of erotica, you'll find some you love and some you hate, simply because everybody has different tastes, and so I will try not to allow my dislike of a couple stories to ruin my enjoyment of the entire product.

Overall, I might pull out the CD again if I find my erotic imagination running dry, but I'd rather turn to an anthology of written erotica because it is easier to find stories that suit my tastes. My personal experience with audio erotica has been a few episodes of Violet Blue's podcast and audiobooks that feature sex scenes, like the later Anita Blake novels. If you are looking for more kinky, explicit, and/or group scenes, I would look elsewhere. Not ideal for me, but the CD seems to be intended as a safe and unintimidating introduction to erotica, and I think it achieves its goal well.
Follow-up commentary
I'm sure this CD would be great for a lot of people, but it was not designed for me. I wanted more explicit language and more detailed scenes. I ended up passing it on to a friend who might enjoy it a bit more. No sense in keeping it kicking around my apartment when someone else might have a use for it!

great review. Your review actually makes me want to purchase the product, except I don't think I could stand it hearing them told by women.
