extremely useful review
Safe Word by Molly Weatherford is a novel published by Cleis Press. It is the follow up novel to the book Carrie's Story. While it is not completely necessary to read Carrie's Story to enjoy this book, I would recommend it so that you can get a better insight of what led up to Safe Word. It does touch on a few things from the first so that you can catch up to some extent, however it may leave you with a lot of questions as to what happened in Carrie's Story.

Carrie, a confident, strong young woman, coming to terms with her own sexuality has to decide exactly what it is that she wants in life. As a reader this book will keep you interested from the first to the last page.

In Carrie's Story we are left as Carrie is sold to a new master, Mr. Constant for one years worth of service and training. Johnathan is left behind. Safe Word picks up on Jonathan and Carrie once they are reunited at the end of that year. They look back on the adventures that they both had during Carrie's year of servitude.

It is told alternately by Jonathan and Carrie, reverting from past to present, touching on the different things that took place during their separation. It touches a lot on Pony Play, where she is kept with other "ponies". There are parties with Doms and subs/slaves that are used for service and training.

Johnathan has a few adventures of his own that will lure readers into his world as well. If you enjoy BDSM, you will like this story. It delves into a few different aspects and acts that most people have at least fantasized about, if not acted upon. At times it is hard to keep up with the way that it shifts from past to present and from Jonathan to Carrie, but it is well worth the read.

Ending with surprises that leave you wondering when the next chapter in this saga will come out. I am impatiently waiting to find out what happens next in their lives.

The book itself is 248 pages long. It is a normal paperback size. It is not discreet to carry with you if you are in a public setting as the cover depicts a naked woman, bound and bending over, ass in the air...as they should be. It is small enough to take in a bag and carry with you, but you may want to have a cover of sorts on it if there are others around.
