Fifty Shades of Red

Overall I found the book to be worth my time. Not worth a second read though so if you can get a deal on it, I recommend it.
Also: I wouldn't get this product used or from the library. Books go through a lot and you hold them for hours...

somewhat useful review
Of course I had to purchase the book because of its recent popularity and thus I went blushing to the cashier at Barnes and Noble....

I know a bit of the background on the book and here's the truth: This is a book based on a Twilight fan fiction and it shows. Names and places have been changed just enough to ensure no lawsuits or copy-write violation. Isabella Swan is now Anastasia Steele, Edward Cullen is Christian Grey (count the syllables). The wealthy, beautiful, and tragically unavailable bachelor is attracted to the innocent young girl and must overcome his horrible and dark secret in order to be with her (but let's face it, we all know he turns Bella-I mean Anna in the end of the series). Sound familiar? The characters are a bit older than in the teen romance, which just reflects the intended age group. And honestly I don't like reading about teens having sex anyway. I recommend reading this if you are in a sexual psychology course or perhaps an advanced psychology course. Or if perhaps you just want an adult version of Twilight.

I personally liked Twilight and I found myself interested throughout this book, although I must say that all of the characters need some therapy. There's not as much adventure as in Twilight; the author seemed to fill that part in with sex. Yes, there are boring parts, but this is not literary greatness we're talking about. I think my grandparents would have used the word "smut" to describe the story. Definitely worth the first read; not worth a second though so if you're committed to buying the book, don't spend too much. I would also not recommend purchasing it used or getting it on loan from a library. Good luck trying to share this book with your man, because I doubt he'll come within 10 feet of it.
