This toy was definitely designed
This is a truly entertaining and useful book on the subject of female masturbation. I devoured this book in just a few hours, because it was just THAT entertaining to read! The author covers everything from the anatomy of the female genitalia to locating your
g-spot, to anal stimulation, to squirting, the history of female masturbation, and a huge section on
sex toys.
The book is really an interesting and fascinating read, and I found myself drawn eagerly from page to page. The author even recounts her own experiences with masturbation, including masturbating on camera for researcher Betty A. Dodson. The author obviously practices what she preaches!
The illustrations in the book left a little to be desired, in my opinion, but that is just a matter of personal taste. The book also has an excellent resource section, dealing with everything from further reading material to feminist-positive masturbation sites to where to research and buy sex toys (and yes, Eden Fantasys IS mentioned, yay!).
My favorite parts of the book were those that dealt with sex toys. Unlike many authors, Jayme Waxman does not shy away from mentioning specific toys in her text, even those that are exclusive to certain shops or online services (like Good Vibrations). Unfortunately, this might make the book somewhat dated before its time; but I found the author focuses on many tried-and-true toys that should be around for the foreseeable future (like the
Hitachi Magic Wand, the
Layaspot, and the
Womolia). She also gives a great rundown on the manufacturers of various toys, focusing on those designed by women, for women. On the other hand, she covers the gamut from high-end boutique shops to “value” sites like Adam & Eve for the beginner.
“Getting Off” by Jayme Waxman is an incredibly entertaining and informative book for both the beginner and the expert. The beginner will find many useful tips, while the expert will be in for a great read! Also, I am itching to check out the many sites and resources she mentions at the end of the book. This one is a substantial yet quick read that is definitely worth picking up!
