Tranceptor Book One is a virtual amalgamation of many fetish images. It includes bondage, and domination, not to mention anal play, and the occasional shower fantasy. The setting is a post-apocalyptic wasteland complete with water shortage and mutant lizard men. The story (which is only the beginning of what promises to be an epic) focuses on two characters. A Tranceptor, part of a sisterhood of super sexy, dominating, women who seem to be of the ruling class, and a boy working at a way station recycling water. The cast includes a slightly more sinister Tranceptor (complete with sweeping cape), a very well endowed lizard man, and Una and Uma, the horsegirls who pull the Tranceptor’s carriage.

The dialogue is less than scintillating, but honestly, that isn’t the appeal of the book. The artwork more than makes up for any weakness in dialogue. The first few pages are particularly interesting. The art allows the use of shadow falling on the nude Tranceptor to create the illusion of bondage. The presence of her dominatrix-esque accessories and the heavy bolt on the door only reinforce this impression, hyping up the sexuality of the images. The images throughout the book are what I find most appealing about it. The characters are well formed and attractive, but just as important, the action is not confusing. The images portray the movement of the characters and the interaction of their bodies in a clear fashion. This allows the reader to enjoy without the need to interpret.

While the images are the strongest aspect of the book, the plot is not so weak as to be forgettable. At the end of the book I was interested in what would happen next, not simply sexually, but also to the characters in their pursuit of happy and productive lives. Obviously the antagonists have only been beaten momentarily and it will be interesting to see where Patrick Conlon and Michael Manning bring our heroes next.
