Guide, not stories of Sexual Fantasy

Overall, I am slightly disappointed with this book. I don't really think it has anything to do with the book itself, but with the expectations I set for it. Having just read multiple erotic short story books, I was expecting the same. And while the stories included were great, they were short and far between. Also, some of the fetishes included in the book were nothing new to me, and nothing that got me excited and wanting to really try.

About author

So far in my erotic reading, I have only read books edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. I enjoyed her stories, but I have also heard some great things about Violet Blue. And this is what lead me to this book, along with the photo of the beautiful stiletto on the cover. In the back of the book, it states that "Violet Blue is senior copywriter at Good Vibrations, where she writes book and video reviews, which has her watching an awful lot of porn, and reading virtually everything imaginable about sex. She is a sex columnist and a sex educator." The short stories that were thrown in throughout the book were very well written. Typically two to three pages long, they always sucked me right into the action. I enjoyed each one I read, and I look forward to reading an erotic novel from her next, instead of an instructional one.

Design

This book is well laid out. It measures 6 inches by 9 inches, and features a black stiletto heel, with a fishnet stockinged leg on the front. Very far from discreet, it would be very difficult to read this in public unless you had a cover over it. Inside there are no pictures or sketches, just 256 pages worth of sexual knowledge. The book is printed by Cleis Press, and just like the other erotic books I have gotten from Eden, I expect it to last a long time. Inside the book are acknowledgments, the chapters and their breakdown, and a short 4 page introduction.

Personal comments

Reading the first 2 chapters, there have been 3 short stories thrown in. Enjoyable to read, and arousing. I have found a few typing errors though, but nothing that would make the book loose a star. Also, not every chapter has a story at the end of it.

Reading these certain chapters, they have reminded me how my wife has asked for certain ways to get her aroused. I had forgotten about this, and I am trying to refocus on her requests, just as I want her to focus on mine.

These 3 chapters below really didn't catch my interest too much.

Ch 5- Threesomes, Foursomes and Moresomes- I skipped, because I gave no interest in actually doing it, and neither does my wife.

Ch 7- Strip Clubs- My wife and I have no desire to go to a strip club, and this chapter didn't change that for me.

Ch 8- Public Sex- No real ideas, but I did like the story at the end about public sex in Paris.

Experience

So far I am enjoying the book, but its not what I expected. I don't know why, it seems clear by the title what its subject is, but I guess I was more expecting stories of different things, not descriptions of all the different sexual fantasies and how to perform them. This book has given me a few ideas, but chapters that include info for having sex with other people, sex parties, swinging, or strip clubs just don't do anything for me. I would maybe consider pretending my wife and I were with a third person, but we would never invite someone into our relationship. And totally forget about ever hiring a hooker or escort. Totally too risky.

I am definitely surprised by some of the fetishes listed in the fetish chapter. I would have never thought about some of those, but those just don't turn me on.
Follow-up commentary
4 months later, and no change to how I feel about this book. I haven't pulled it out to read it again, and my wife hasn't ever pulled it out to even look at it. I guess you can't win every time.
